Guitar Hero 5 - September dlc: Papa Roach, Godsmack and more!

OMG TV on the Radio? Are you fucking kidding me? Day 1 purchase if they have Wolf Like Me or Stare at the Sun. This is a great lineup, I like the Rock Band series more but this may get me back to my Guitar Hero roots.

Just wanted to check. :p

A bunch of pre-E3 previews for the game mentioned that you could transfer World Tour's songs to 5 but it wasn't mentioned at E3 so hopefully it's still something we can do, for me it amounts to basically wanting the choice to play "Assassin" in newer games.

All I've ever read song transfer wise is you can transfer over the DLC from GH:WT, but as for GH:WT and other on disc songs they're "looking into it," which usually means little to no chance of it happening. This information I know was even recently in the new Game Informer.

Yeah, it's probably too early in the morning for me to think properly cause reading over some of the previews again, the only one that mentions on-disc track transfer is Kotaku's article. Seeing how "looking into it" equals "it's not going to happen so move onto the next fucking question" in PR talk, looks like I shouldn't get my hopes up for a World Tour track export.
Blah, looks like World Tour is going to be like Legends of Rock where I don't want the damn games anymore but keep them cause they have Muse tracks in them. :whistle2:|

trying to come out before Beatles Rock Band I see. I'll be waiting for deals on this one, but definitely buying Beatles on day one.
Definitely a good list of bands, though I'll reserve judgment until I see the song choices.
If the Wiki is accurate, you can see a few already.
Here's a contest of some sort:

Wiki page has been added to the OP. I'm gonna go apeshit whenever I play "Blue Orchid". I freakin' love that song!
Majority of those songs were actually confirmed on newest Game Informer.

bah. im sick of guitar hero's marketing. im convinced that theyll never go nuts with DLC because theyd rather release a game every 6 months to milk us. if the two games coming out this year had a track transfer so i could play them off one disc i might go for it. but im waiting for price drops on these as they are.

I prefer to buy one (possibly two, if improvements to the core experience warrant an upgrade) music-based game and add songs to the game's library via DLC instead of buying band-specific packs, which could be sold as DLC.

Plus its easier to impulse buy DLC than it is DVD's.

The timing of guitar hero with the mechanics of rock band? sounds fucking great.

Oh shit it has a Children of Bodom track. That guarantee's I will be buying this. Irrational like that.

Was anyone else disappointed by the fact Attack Attack is the UK band and not the American band? When I first heard they were going to be in it, I was ecstatic, but now I am not so much. I can see why people would love the track list, but I am passing on this until it goes on clearance (list all GH games ).

If it was anything from Hatebreeder then hell yes, other then that it's a nice addition, but nothing I'd pay $60 for.

If it weren't for the recent "Vans' Warped Tour" track pack featuring The Devil Wears Prada's Dez Moines, I would've been surprised to see Attack! Attack! on the band roster. But even so, it's a really sweet roster, and I can't wait to get my hands on it.

If they fix the song selection screen, multiplayer layout (Metallica sort of did) and stop letting everyone share star power, I'll buy it.

Star power is similar to Rock Band now where everyone has their own bar, but if you're already full and hit the star power notes it'll spill over into another bandmates as well. Everything else...Your guess is good as mine. I HATED the having to buy songs/venues in GH:WT.
cant wait for this game to drop..
Same, game's degrade in price all the time, dlc not so much, sure you have weekly deals, but I like that they come out with new songs and features with a full game. Still haven't picked up GH:Metallica but its on my list. I really like the artist list with this one, a friend of mine who prefers Rock Band was very impressed with the list as well.

Nothing too exciting...for me anyway.

stoked to see a SDRE song on there. there are couple good songs from the 90s, but over all this does not look like a day 1 for me.

You forgot the "featured characters."

 • Matt Bellamy (Muse)
 • Johnny Cash
 • Kurt Cobain (Nirvana)
 • Shirley Manson (Garbage)
Okay, let me try and figure this out. Shirley Manson of Garbage fame broke up that band awhile ago to pursue other interests so I don't know how it works having her on there. Matt Bellamy is nice, but he's not really a household name in terms of musicians.

As for Johnny Cash and Kurt Cobain, I don't know. I Know they did Hendrix in the last one, but something about possibly having Cash and Cobain here just rubs me the wrong way.

8-10 good songs, anyways.

I'll be pissed if these songs stay as GH exclusives. There are a handful of songs I want, but I've decided a while back that I'm not going to keep buying the new guitar games when they come out. Rock Band DLC is all I need or will buy going forward.

Sucks that GH beat RB to the punch for Tom Petty and Mellencamp, both of which would be instant party classics.

I'm not too big on the setlist though, lots of great bands, but the wrong tracks from said bands.

That's over 1/4 of the tracklist! And even among the missing songs, there is a decent overlap in the bands represented. So if history is any indication, I'm thinking (hoping) that "exclusivity" won't be much of an issue here!

This is quite possibly the worst setlist from a music game I've seen. Granted, I've only stuck with the Guitar Hero and Rock Band franchise for them most part, but this is really disappointing.

Any word if your DLC will carry over to the next game Rock Band style?

It's rumored to.

Agreed. I'm hoping it's more like GH2 where the songs aren't as well-known as others from their respective bands but the game is tons of fun to play.

Very nice to see Under Pressure on there. (where Ice Ice Baby's beat came from...)

This does nothing for me. The list is probably worse than GH:WT's and once again it makes me appreciate Rock Band even more.

Nice list of artists represented, though we've seen several of them already on previous music games.
