Guitar Hero II - General Disscusion - Indie Pack #2 - 3 Songs Up Now

you know I was looking for this video and watching it I thought "This might work in GH" I would have posted this on the forums over there but...I dont think it will be well recieved because of its genre.

edit2:upon further review, there is too little lead guitar to make a good song, nevermind then, but still...it would be nice to get some more genres in the series.

I will NEVER 5-star everything on Hard. I have about 15 of the songs completed and I just can't seem to do any better. I also have 4 songs I can't beat in order to just finish the hard setting. 5-starring Medium was really really easy though - I got mostly 5 stars the first time through - go figure.

Just gotta practice. Lots of them are easy to 5 star, a few are even kinda easy to FC.
 
Damn that Hard difficulty. Though I can't seem to do better than 3-stars and the occassional 4-stars through the first 3 sets, it's made Medium so boring without the use of the 5th fret button. I don't know how I'll be able to trudge through Easy to get the achievements there.

Easy is really unbearable. I've been doing a song or two a night to try and eventually get the achievement but it is tough. I think I'm 4 songs away from 5-starring everything after finally beating Easy over the weekend. I got perfects on just about every song except for 2 or 3.

What I had heard was that they were going to release 3 packs a month which should make the next 3 coming out this week or maybe next I'm not sure.

I'm on the lookout, but I'm merely curious if they're still going to charge $6.25 per pack, or if they're going to be a bit more polite this time around.

They haven't lowered the price of the first 3 packs so I have no reason to believe that they will lower the price. What a kick in the balls.

The price sucks, but since I got the 1600 points card from CC free with GHII, I'm just going to bite the bullet and buy 'em(at least the ones I want).
 
Finally picked this game up last night. I've 5 starred every song on Hard except for Psychobilly Freakout and Freebird (both 4 stars). I'm around 20k short from 5 starring both, so it can't be that hard.

I 5 starred Carry Me Home on Hard last night, pretty satisfying.

That's the only reason I even bought 1 pack was because of that free CC card. I wish I hadn't even bothered. For 1600 points you can pick up Worms and Catan on XBLA and get about 500 times (probably not an exaggeration) more time and enjoyment for the price.
 
I'll preface this by saying that I suck at this game. 3-stars on most everything thus far on Hard through 4 sets, but damn is it ever satisfying when you see a run of notes with hammer-ons and pull-offs and your mind is thinking, "Oh, shit, where the hell do my fingers go," and yet your fingers just move naturally despite your mind being a few notes behind. I get done with a run and I think, "What the hell just happened? I got that note streak down?" It's almost as if it's not my fingers working the frets.

wow, thats weird. Not sure which is harder, the hands or the game? lol

Anyway, I just beat pshycobilly Freakout on expert (damn song). took me about 30 tries.

Nice! I remember it took me FOREVER to beat it the first time. I still can't even four star it. :lol:

I saw a couple at a Best Buy a few weeks ago, but I haven't seen them since. I was at a Target today that had the shelf sticker (59.99) but no product.

They are also selling guitar stands now. Comes with a strap and stickers for 14.99. Has anyone bought one of these? Are they junk?
 
It's taken until tier 6 of expert for me to start miserably failing songs. The opening solo to Crazy on You kept kicking my ass, and now Freya had made me hate quick chord fingering...

Oh well, at least I made it this far without needing to use practice mode. Hell, the only song I failed on my first try until this was Search and Destroy on expert...

Crazy on You and Freya are bad, Stop is pretty bad too. Then it is Phycobilly Freakout and Rock this town. The final set, every song is terrible.

As for guitars, Almost every game store I have been at has had the game, but I havn't seen any guitars.

That might be nice. It's too little for a regular guitar stand.
 
i was waiting on best buy to get more x-plorer guitar controllers in at 49.99, but they're STILL sold out...it's been over a month.

i'm glad i found one at target for 59.99 (rather pay 10 bucks more than wait a year for one). i wasn't even going there for one. they still have a bunch of guitar controllers over at the target near my house. about 7 if i recall.

Looks like someone also thought that "Snow (hey oh)" by RHCP would be a good addition. I wish I knew how to add custom songs.. it'd take for-freakin-ever though.

I'm not looking forward to The Trooper, I hated that song on Hard, and I fear it on Expert... And I can't even 5 star Freya on hard, let alone finish on expert, though I got about 70-80% on my first try (my hands are too small, the stretching for the "green, orange, blue/yellow" part is fucking painful!). There's a kid I work with who has ALMOST finished expert on PS2; he's got 3 songs left.

Eh, maybe I'll try to finish 5 starring hard (13 songs left!) before I finish expert. At least I have slowly gotten better since the PS2 release, and the fingering practice will come in handy.

Now, if only the song packs were cheaper...

There's an iso called "guitar Hero Hacker's Edition" floating around torrent sites. Not sure if these songs are on it.

I'm not sure how to do it for Guitar Hero itself, but it is very easy to create custom songs using Frets on Fire. It has an editor built in and all you need is an ogg version of a song to work with. I'm pretty sure it also works with the 360 usb Guitar Hero guitar.

Just keep practicing. It took me like 2 weeks to finally beat Freebird on Expert but I kept at it.
