Guitar Hero: Metallica - Full Track List - Demo Now On XBLM!

So I have this now, I especially like the Mercyful Fate 'official bootleg' video from Ozzfest 2008 being on here, because I was there front and center VIP. :>

I might pick this up when it gets cheap. I don't mean to add to the bickering, but I've really been spoiled by the song importing that RB2 introduced. So now any music game where I'll have to swap discs becomes a much less urgent purchase!

I participated in the GH:M tournament in Austin at SXSW (Metallica also performed at Stubbs!).

The song list rocks, but the gameplay is still just as loose and unsatisfying as every GH game after 2. The animated band really freaks me out for some reason, they all look like they're made out of plastic. They also bear resemblance to GH:A animated Aerosmith, which is fucking hilarious.

I went and cancelled my pre-order today (which I was going to do anyway, as I didn't have the $60), but after playing most of the songs on it, I can say I've had my fill of the game.

My favorite songs were Blood and Thunder (the hardest song on drums, ever) , War Ensemble, King Nothing, and Creeping Death. I didn't try Dyer's Eve, which I regret. Oh well, that sums up my view of the game.

Anderson: I expect GHM to drop heavily in price within a couple of months, which seems to be the trend for non-Rock Band 360 music games.
I know right. Swapping discs is so hard that I can't do it anymore.
haha I get the point you're trying to make, but I was thinking mainly in terms of local multiplayer. When you've got a party going it's nice to just pop one disc in and have a huge library available. I even got a printed out list of all the songs available tacked onto the fridge, so people can just browse that while they're waiting to play. You lose a lot of that fun and accessibility when your song library is segmented onto different discs.

If we're strictly talking in terms of single player games to "beat" then granted it's much less of an issue.

I thought the band looked like real musicians in a game, not plastic. You really feel the tone of Metallica with the demo at least. I've got plenty of other songs to play while I wait for the price drop lol. I still have GH2 apparently on back order from Red Octane, so if they ever ship that I'd have a full game to go through before Metallica.

I think the character models are decent, but there's a moment in the demo (the second "I'm you're eeeeeeeeeyesssssss" before the second solo) where Robert is shown and his mouth is comically enormous.

Kind of annoyed they are wasting 4 slots with Death Magnetic stuff since you can buy that on the marketplace, but ONLY as a bundle. I just want three songs off of it, but I'd be more inclined to buy the whole thing anyway if I wasn't being forced to buy 4 songs I already have included on the GH Metallica disc.

Thats the full song list for the Wii and PS2 versions, the PS3/360 versions only have "All Nightmare Long" on disc. The other 3 songs are bonus tracks essentially since they didn't release Death Magnetic as DLC on those platforms, plus you can now play the drums and sing "One", so what that guy posted was very misleading. The only setback is that the DLC songs may not support the Expert+ setting, except for All Nightmare Long which is on the disc.

Gotcha. Thanks.
just curious why they added another difficulty for this game...crazy
In the past, double bass patterns have only been charted as half patterns, which was fine since there weren't that many songs that had them. This game, however, is almost wall-to-wall metal and lots of metal uses double bass.

Why is everyone complaining about the list? It's friggin' Metallica. If you don't like Metallica, don't buy it. I mean their name is in the title.

I know exactley the moment you're talking about, and it freaked me the fuck out.

And Hetfield's teeth in this game make him look like a fucking demon.

What about if you like Metallica but the rest of the stuff doesn't appeal to you? They need a kick in the balls - GH:Metallica should have nothing but Metallica songs and it should be more than 28 of them. Why not put out a "Discography Game" for a band or something? If that's too much to cram in one game make a few albums DLC or something. I don't know - the only thing they are doing are making people who like Metallica and would otherwise buy the game pass on it because they don't feel like slogging through System of a Down just to unlock the next bunch of songs.

You do realize that all of the non-Metallica songs were handpicked by Metallica themselves, based on influences, and so forth. Wait until you get the game yourself to judge it.

Also, I'm pretty sure non-Metallica fans will question a song or three in the game. My friend Eric kept asking why Turn The Page was in the game, and I had to explain about there being a Metallica cover existing and so forth, since he's more of a GH-fan and not a Metallica-fan.

I don't know about most people but I don't give a crap about the music they like. If I buy a Metallica game I want more Metallica music and less of everything else. Pearl Jam is my favorite band ever but their influences (The Who, The Ramones and Neil Young primarily) can suck it for the most part (although I do like quite a few songs by The Who). Just because the band likes it doesn't mean everyone will. I guess these band-specific games aren't for me...

Just wait for the inevitable price drop, JAH. It won't drop as quickly as the Aerosmith game, but that thing is $10 already, so I'd imagine this one will at least drop to $30 by the end of the year.

I agree with Matt Young. Hell, even today the front page of CAG had World Tour for $25 from Newegg. Every GH gets massive price drops.

I'd say there is plenty of Metallica in this game, and the some other tracks include fucking War Ensemble and Blood and Thunder. Is that not metallica-esque enough for you?!

It's what I keep referring the title to to Eric.

To stay on topic, I'll be back on this game tonight if anyone wants to play.

My Gamestop isn't doing a midnight release(from what I can tell) but they're opening at 9 tomorrow morning. I can't wait!

Same here. First they were doing the midnight thing, now I get a call saying they're not, but will be open at 9 a.m. Oh well...

Okay no one was obviously on last night, but if anyone is on tonight, I'm up for doing some of the achievements. Check PS3Trophies for the complete non-hidden achievement list.

Um, if you like Metallica, there's a pretty big chance you'll like a lot of the other bands as well.

I agree.

And javeryh, if you don't like Toxicity, which is a song I LOVE, then don't play it. Quickplay in GHM has ALL songs avaliable from the start. No codes necessary. Have fun.

That is amazing. Someone finally figured out that we don't want to be unlocking songs! Every music game should have that functionality; it is a shame Rock Band 2 doesn't.

I agree. When I got my dirty little hands on this almost a week ago, I went to Quickplay first and foremost, like I do with every music game to start out with. I didn't know what song to play because I wasn't used to having everything avaliable to me to start with. ;)

Yeah that's the
zombie
outfit. I perfer the
80's
outfit myself. If anyone wants to do Band vs. Band (I'm looking for the achievement for winning that), I can do anything but drums, but I'm a vocalist first and foremost. I can sign into another account if need be tho.

I really want to get this game, but I don't know if I should because I have already spent a lot of money this month, haha.

What the hell, where are the last few posts, including my own that Razzuel quoted and my post about the outfits, along with the post that made me reply about said outfits? Why do my posts always disappear from this forum?

I really want to get the Band vs. Band achievement out of the way. If you are playing the game, let's set up a Xbox LIVE party.

EDIT: I posted about the deleted/disappearing posts, Razzuel, if you could say something over here: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=219438, it'd be appreciated, thanks.

My quick review.. (bear in mind that I played single player guitar for the time that I played it.)

First off, I'm not the biggest Metallica fan ever, but I love quite a bit of their songs. I was hyped for this game and picked it up at midnight. It seems like the developer's hearts were in the right place while making this, but it just feels.. off.

First off, the presentation, as noted, is top notch. You really feel as if they're playing on stage, and it is, without a doubt, the best a GH game has looked. The unfortunate part of this is that you're supposed to be paying attention to the notechart. This could've been remedied with a mode similar to Rock Band 2's axed "Jukebox" mode, where there'd be no notechart or anything, you'd just get to watch the band play. I kept getting distracted by pyro and crazy antics and I would miss a note or two.

Secondly, everything's unlocked! I know what they were thinking.. they realize that Metallica songs are not easy to play and therefore they shouldn't make people play through career mode to unlock songs. Again, the problem: It sucks the fun right out of it! After an hour or two of playing through the initial batch of songs that you want to play, you're not really going to want to play through career mode. Any satisfaction or sense of accomplishment you could've gotten from finally nailing the solo on that one part of a song to unlock a song you've been waiting to play is stolen.

The live performances and behind the scenes mo-cap is cool, but after about two hours, I feel like I'm done. I have nothing to unlock, it's unlocked for me. All of the live performances and behind the scenes videos are unlocked after you play the first two songs in career mode. There are four or five more locked videos. I'm assuming they pertain to the career mode and aren't Metallica music videos or live performances or anything.

Don't get me wrong. The songs are awesome, the notecharts are a little underwhelming on expert (the only one to give me difficulty so far was "All Nightmare Long" at 77%).. but unless you're a HUGE Metallica or Guitar Hero fan, rent it or pass altogether. This will probably wind up on my tradelist soon.

//edit: Also, "Turn the Page"'s chart is weird as hell.

So I'm guessing you played it on expert than? I've only gotten up to hard and I'm sure the reason why they didn't have you unlock the songs as you go is by the mistakes they learned with the previous guitar hero games not because Metallica songs are too hard.

I'm personally someone who digs into the songs I wanna play with in Quickplay before touching Career, and it was a pleasant surprise to not be set to 8 songs or so before doing so.
