Guitar Hero: World Tour - Gen. Discussion & Info

Whoa, wait, what? You can use the RB1/2 drums with GH:WT and the tracks will change to support 4 pads instead of 5? No way.

Also, does anyone know if the new GH:WT guitar will have to same type strum bar as past GH guitars (as in not the strum bar from the RB guitar that I hated)? I'm considering buying the Guitar Kit (game + guitar) for $40 more than the game only since the guitar sounds really nice with that touch pad.

are GHWT drums supposed to work with RB1 and 2? I am gonna pick up Rockband or GH when they release but just want to make sure the set that I do pick up works with the other. I recently sold my Rock Band one second to put towards an upgrade.

Yes
Wow, what a laughably bad track list. I hope Guitar Hero goes the way of the dinosaur; it's just turned into shameless branding.
If that tracklist is "laughably bad" then how would you categorize the Rock Band soundtrack? They share a lot of the same bands. Unless of course you hate BOTH setlists, in which case I suppose your personal opinion could be justified...:whistle2:k

Wow I was not planning on getting this, but how in the world did they secure licenses for Tool?

Edit: Just found this, sorry if it's been posted already:

"Hugely popular alternative metal band Tool, known for their epic, intense musical arrangements and killer visual arts, will also soon be known for their contribution to the upcoming Guitar Hero® World Tour. Guitar Hero fans from all over the world will be able to rock out to "Parabola" and Grammy-award winning "Schism" from Tool's critically-acclaimed 2001 album Lateralus in addition to "Vicarious" from their 2006 Grammy-award winning album 10,000 Days. The game will also feature an all-new venue designed in collaboration with the band and highlighting the art style that has become a staple in their music videos, live shows and album artwork."

Couldn't disagree more. Looks far more interesting than RB2. Van Halen, Nugent, Tool, the Eagles, the Doors, Hendrix, Wings, Willie Nelson, Ozzy, REM, Nirvana, Muse, Metallica, Lenny Kravitz, Bon Jovi, Stariani, Skynyrd, Bob Seger & Steve Miller? That has WIN written all over it.

Make no mistake, GH is bringing the big names and sales will reflect it.

I am sorry to ask this beacuse you most likely get it a lot. But I havent bought a GH game since the ps2 version of GH2 and never looked into rock band. For some reason I am confused at both games so bare with me.

Ok. I plan on getting both games, 1 bundle 1 stand alone. Which bundle should I purchase to get the better instruments that are compatible with both games.

Also. What all do I have to purchase to get a full band? 1 bundle? 1 bundle plus extra guitar?

Thank you in advance. I dont know why I am not understanding but I am not.

The main difference in instruments would be in the drums. GH:WT has one extra drum pad, but the game still supports the RB drums and actually adjusts the in-game track accordingly. Until I hear some damning detail about the GH:WT drums, I'm assuming that they are the best ones to get for anyone who does not yet own a kit.

I wouldn't say it's laughably bad, but I would say it pales in comparison to Rock Band's. And that same band rule doesn't necessarily fly, cause I'd take One Step Closer over whatever Linkin Park song they chose in Guitar Hero ANYDAY

it has something written all over it but i dont think it's win. without a doubt they have spent more money on the songs than rock band but all the celebrity endorsement makes me sick. they pay travis barker to endorse the drums, tool to work on/endorse videos, they pay ozzy to be in the game. it's all money and no thought. if activision had original ideas they they wouldn't have bought guitar hero, stole rock band, and will soon steal skate (they're working on a "totally realisitic and original skateboarding game" WOW). i already have my band game and it almost has 500 songs. i don't need another 85 from a crooked company.

You know, it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of the anti-Guitar Hero zealots are the same people who jumped on the EA hate train a few years ago. Just sayin'.

As disappointed as I am in the setlist...I still kinda want to get the bundle. Not just for the drums and guitar, but so I can get dibs on my band name first.

a lot of people like to attack when companies merge or conglomerate or whatever. as for me, i'm just not a big fan of thievery.

Logical progression is not thievery. People have been talking about 'drum hero' long before Rock Band. It was only a matter of time before they were added. It is irrelevant as to which company is behind it, as it was going to happen anyway. Appropriating ideas has been around since the dawn of time and like Wombat said in the CAGCast, if companies didn't learn from each other, we'd still be driving Model T's.

I just love how people have some personal vendetta against Neversoft like they came in raped your family and shit on your 360 before leaving with your Rock Band setup. It's a company. They are out to make money, just like Harmonix.

Man I know I'm going to buy this game but will I have enough money buying Prince of Persia, Banjo Kazooie, Fable 2, Gears2 and Fallout 3 as well! lol

Edit: Damn wtf, 240 bucks for a bundle version of GHWT:http://www.redoctane.com/s.nl/it.A/id.475/.f?sc=12&category=450
I know the regular bundle is 190 but do they know what the economy is doing right now, man. Also all I want is the drums, great the rock band drums work but I don't have rock band, I just want the friggen drums. This sucks, I know what is going to happen, I'm going to buy the game, then wait till they release just the friggen drums. Also it looks like you can just buy the new neck and put it on your old guitar to get the tap functionality so hopefully that is what will be available.

can u really buy a standalone neck attachment? i proposed this idea here a while ago and everyone called me a dumbass...

There should be more hype to this game I mean it's gh!

Someone should email them and let them know that the economy is not doing well and why the prices are so high..
Well you can buy replacement parts for instruments for Rock Band and Guitar Hero so that's how I thought of it.
The connections are different though, I'm pretty sure.

Well, I hope some of you put in your pre-orders early from Amazon, looks like they've cut them off. The band kit for the 360 and Wii are no longer avaliable. Glad I did mine months back.

Gamestop.com stopped last week, and most Gamestop stores stopped two weeks ago. RedOctane.com is still taking preorders, though I don't think they cut off at any point.

Although I much prefer the RB interface and song list (especially when you factor in DLC) I'm still getting this because it has Hendrix and The Doors.

Just waiting to see how the midi port on the drums works before I decide whether to get the whole setup or just the game only. I'm thinking about getting an electronic drum set and I gotta wait for feedback on how that works with the GH drums before I buy. Also wondering how the GH drums work with Rock Band.
is any place selling JUST the drums yet?
They haven't even announced plans to release drums yet unfortunately. I want the drums for rock band.
They haven't even announced plans to release drums yet unfortunately. I want the drums for rock band.
Agreed, I am in the same boat.
Does that setlist include bonus songs?
According to all other websites and such as well, final tally is 86 so yes.

I was about to overlook this entirely after investing so much in RB DLC, but I ordered the guitar bundle through YF360games.com. I hope its worth it.
They haven't even announced plans to release drums yet unfortunately. I want the drums for rock band.
Thanks, I was just about to ask the same question as Busta did. I'm not to intersted in World Tour besides the drums. I've just invested so much time in RB2's DLC and character/band customization that I don't feel like doing it again.

So if you pre-order through gamestop and instantly unlock all 85 songs is that like just using the cheat and forfeiting an achievement?
They haven't even announced plans to release drums yet unfortunately. I want the drums for rock band.
Humbug. Is there a game+drum bundle at least? I planned on getting the game eventually anyway, so I could live with that.

They've gotta realize that a TON of people are gonna buy secondhand drum kits if they don't sell them separately. Why would they wanna throw such a huge bone to the used market?
Humbug. Is there a game+drum bundle at least?
No. There is:

Game only
Game/Guitar Bundle
Full Band Bundle
No. There is:

Game only
Game/Guitar Bundle
Full Band Bundle
pshhhh well they can bugger right off then. Maybe I'll just get separate drums from some reseller. And tons of other people are gonna do that too. Thanks a lot Activision, that money could have been yours!

I'm sure they'll have some kind of drum kit available after Christmas season. RB did the same thing last year.

I wouldn't mind getting the new Guitar, but is there some way to wire it? I hatted that about the last model.
You want wired over wireless? What are you smoking?
Only the good stuff my friend. I prefer wireless, but I want some kind of hub so you can attach a 360 controller cord. My X-Box's locate button doesn't work and Microsoft wont fix it for free. There's no way for my 360 to recognize a controller unless I wire it first. After that it has no problem recognizing it.
You want wired over wireless? What are you smoking?
It saves batteries. I prefer wired to wireless for that reason.

I haven't had any problems with my batteries once I take them out when I'm not using the guitar. They last a long time that way, also grab the energizer lithium ones which last the longest. The perk to wireless is you can sit back and play guitar 6 feet away from the TV. ^^ Also nobody trips on the wire or pets trying to eat through it!
