Halo 3 Beta via Crackdown is up!

My most satisfying kill came today. We were playing Territories and these two guys waited inside a Bubble Shield trying to gain control of the land. My noob teammates were shooting at them not realizing the bubble was protecting them so I got inside and left 2 nades.
Wait, does this work on all the vehicles? I'll have to try it tomorrow after work. That sounds cool.
You can stick all vehicles.
I was talking about the mongoose..
thats not true, i have done it. Although it was pure luck that it happened

I played the beta for about 6 hours today. I finally got bored enough to call it a night. Great beta. I take back what I said about bungie. My skills have also improved dramatically since before I started playing the beta. I've played more rounds of this than I have in Halo 2.
What an idiot..........
what??? ........i have

what happened was i was driving the mongoose and someone stepped out right in front of me from behind a rock

I was never a big fan of Halo 2 online, however my friends and I are having a blast with Halo 3 beta. Love the updated control schemes, as using the RB/LB stuff is very fluid. The demo is pretty balanced weapon wise as everyone I know has a different favorite weapon. 2 out of the 3 maps are really good (not a big fan of snowbound). Can not wait for the final game now. I actually excited for a Halo 3 now

Does anyone know if we can see what all the new medals are?
They've changed some old ones (Running Riot --> Killing Frenzy, Rampage --> Running Riot, Killtacular --> Overkill, etc) and added in new ones (Killjoy, Beyond the Grave, etc), and it'd be nice to know what they all are.

They pop up on the screen when you get them..
I think Running riot, overkill, etc. are just new names for 5 in a row, 10 in a row etc. Beyond the grave- kill someone with a grenade after getting killed, Killjoy- end someone's streak

There's sprees for the shotgun and snipes now. (5 and 10)

Killing spree is 5, Killing Frenzy is 10, Running Riot is 15, Rampage is 20.

There's a medal for getting at least 15 kills without dying in a game, which is called perfection.

EDIT: Found this.
will this work with the non-crackdown version that I downloaded? I don't think the code will let me download it again.

On the thing about the split screen being 4:3, they did that for purity. They couldn't increase the FOV because then that would be kind of cheating. And if they had to make the FOV smaller to fit, people would complain about that. But yeah, hopefully in the final they'll offer an option for you to pick the fullscreen and less fov.
Yeah, it beats the vertical splitscreen in Halo 2 for widescreen. It was a full screen but it sucked ass.

Not sure if I'm in the majority, but I'm already bored of the beta. I played the crap out of Halo 2 and after three days of the beta, I think I'm done.

I'm sure once the game comes out and there are tons more maps and game modes (hopefully) that'll change, but for now I think I've had by Halo fix ... which kind of scares me.

I think I'm the same way Rudy. I've played a good sum here in the last few days, and while I enjoyed it, I'm about done myself. I think the amount of customization allowed in the final game will give the game exponential life, but as of now-- I've got a good idea of where they're going, and am glad to see its on its way.

It doesn't worry me for the final product at all-- instead it worries me that Shadowrun may do the same thing to me, at a 60 dollar pricetag.

"Halo 3 Beta Code Confirms 4 Player Co-Op Over Xbox Live"

"playing the Halo 3 beta are skillful modders who over the last few days have been examining the beta's code. They have found references to unannounced weapons, new vehicles and game types but probably their most precious finding is the fact that Halo 3 will support up to four players co-op on Xbox Live and System Link.

Scrolling through the list of on-screen text for party menus, one sentence revealed the following:

The game cannot start because all players are set to observer. Too many players for splitscreen. Only 2 players may play splitscreen coop on the same Xbox 360 console. The party size is too large to start the game. Up to 4 players may play coop on Xbox Live or System Link. Loading information from Xbox Live…
I'm still shocked that there's little talking going on before and after matches.
I would imagine that a number of people are just toggling on the "Team and Friends" option under Voice rather than otherwise. I know I'm doing that all of the time. Why? Not because I'm not sociable, but at the end of the day I've already heard at least 250 screaming teenagers whining about inconsequential things and I tend to find that number a bit high enough as it is. Also, if I don't have to listen to strangers, I find that I'm going to the Mute button far less, much less the "Avoid Player" function and the other methods for reporting XBL garbage.

Besides, it's just a beta. Everyone's getting their game on and letting their frustrations fly. I'd rather just have some fun chatting with friends while we play rather than letting the ire that occured earlier on in the day result in my reporting other people because I'm in a horrendous mood and I feel like being a prick. ;)
 that would be incredible if it was confirmed.
QFT

If so, I need to see what the Gravity Hammer is, the human sword?

I hear that. Its easier just not to talk to people and only have a private chat with one friend going on. Sure it hurts the team in team play, but Bungie refuses to put in a "mute all opponents" option into the game. Plus that reporting people thing is garbage. Like the guy from OXM proved its next to impossible to get banned.

What do you guys think about the Veto Map option? I enjoyed the variety of Oddball and Crazy King and Rocket matches and these seem to be getting the most vetos. And with most of the matches I've had being only 6 players, 4 vetos and it's over.

I've noticed more people vetoing the map than vetoing the game.... unless it's territories. I like all the more custom games than just slayer or team slayer, the only one that bothers me and it has happened to me twice and I was the only one to veto it was I was playing skirmish and the game came up as team slayer, if I wanted to play that I would have picked it, and then in the game people are like whats going on I thought this was king of the hill.

Wow, some of those are insane.

At one point, team Bungie had this in place:

They should have kept it

I am loving the Veto. I have only had one time something was vetoed that should have been played. I have also only had one time out of all the games I have played when I was up against a team of increadably great players. This team had our flag within a few seconds and we never scored on them. They were aggressive as hell.

Big Team Battle Training is now up! Me and Jaket were the first ones on it. Max Party size is 12 (not 16 like from before). Also, they took out regular Team Training from the playlist.

EDIT: It's MultiFlag CTF on Valhalla and it runs silky smooth. It looks like it's still a little glitchy, because it shows a Territories game on my Bungie stats page, but we vetoed it. Plus, it started the game with me and Jaket and 2 other guys vs. 6 (4v6).

As far as split screen multiplayer goes, when you guys play, does it cut off the screen and make it full screen with black bars on the sides? Just wondering if I messed up the settings, since its doing it for me.

same thing here too, i'm playing on a widescreen HDTV though, not sure what you're using though.

In one of the interviews I read Bungie said that's how they changed it for Halo 3. So I assume that is how it's supposed to look for you guys.

fuck...so its either that or downgrade the visiuals to 480p to get it fully stretched on widescreen?...bummer. I understand if they don't want to give the "stretched" effect, but I'd take that over the black bars.

ya just saw that, Will probably be playin that a little later with some friends :)

So if BTB is a social playlist, does that mean we could potentially get a 12 or 16(not sure if 16 player games are supported?) player CAG party going?

The beta caps rooms at 8 players max :(

Today the beta's Big Team Battle was upped to 16 players, with some other tweaks to the play list. Dual CTF, and you can see the new Banshee on one of the levels as well

Are you sure? I know it was upped to 12, not 16, unless they just updated it again.

Upped to 12, not 16.

Trakan: make your internet connection not suck so it doesn't screw me over!

I'm kinda mixed on these smaller rooms: sometimes, it doesn't feel like there are enough players in Rumble pit, but I imagine it'll work better in BTB.

one thing thats really annoying about BTB, is that every single game i have played, one person quits. Then, it takes like 10 minutes to get back into the game

Hmm.. I played again for a bit tonight.. didn't WIN any games..came in 5th...but I actually got some kills. The end scores weren't "43" and i had "2"..LOL

it is enjoyable when you don't play with people who do NOTHING but play this game. It makes me almost want to get it, but I know I'll be dealing with people who are insanely good at the game.. so i won't like it :(
