Halo 3 - General Discussion & Info

I consider the girl that's always talking to you to be more iconic to Halo than Master Chief. Master Chief doesn't even talk and you don't see him so what's the point? As far as I'm concerned, all he is is an icon symbolizing what you see on the box as being what lets you know what game you're playing.

I could care less if it's Master Chief or Master Lee from The Last Dragon. Just don't kill off that woman.

I don't even remember the name of Dead Rising's main character and I played that religiously.

You gotta figure, most of the time you play Halo 1 & 2 for a typical gamer is playing Multiplayer or on XBL.

I know I like her voice though. :D

They purposely keep the amount that MC talks to a limit and never show his face. It has a psychological effect on you in that you never put a name or a face on to the character, so when you play as him, you feel as if you ARE him.

Cans in the shape of bottles.
Anyone know if you'll need to know the story from the first two games to get the third's campaign?
Legendary Edition comes with remastered cinematics from the previous two games, so that should fill in the blanks for a lot of people.

Have you actually played Halo? Master Chief talks, just not a lot, as mentioned earlier.

Plus, how could you make sweeping statements about the game when you don't even know one of the main character's names?
No friggin way am I paying $120 or whatever it is for the Legendary edition. I guess I'll watch it on youtube.
I'm sure they'll get tossed up there at some point, or if you know someone with the LE version, ask to borrow their disc.

FYI Here are the trade in prices for Game Crazy

# Halo 3 - $22.73 9/10/07
# Halo 3 Limited Edition $35 9/10/07
# Halo 3 Legendary Edition $60 9/10/07

I'm going to guess LE just means the discs not the helmet... but you never know.

Exactly. Becuase there's really so much things you can do to complete objectives his personality is defined by how you play. Pretty cool stuff.

This is why they would piss on everything they worked up if they gave him a face. They've already partly ruined it by giving him a name and a backstory.

Choi Wang mailed us in to reveal that a Norwegian game shop called Expert today sold at least two copies of Halo 3 to the public, he added the following picture as proof. In the past, premature street date breaks have resulted in competitors following suit, if this occurs, we could all be purchasing Halo 3 a lot earlier than we thought. Spread the word and DIGG THIS!!!
awesome music..but what is it?
It's the diorama that was put together for the commercials. You can interact with is.

It's beautiful.
That site was sooooo awesome.
That was made by weta right? I guess they got alot of free time these days.

I'm going dark. I'm done with NeoGAF for 12 days. I'm done with halo threads for 12 days. I'm done with anything that even vaguely resembles communication about halo on the internet that's not from bungie for 12 days.

I'm out. See you on the other side. Those pics of random ass dudes having the game worry me about hearing things I don't want to hear.

I guess the marketing has finally gotten to me or I just have snapped nonetheless but I already had the Collector's Edition pre-ordered and now I just pre-ordered the Regular Edition (so not to muck up the Collector's and it is more convienient than, oh, the Gears of Wars Collectors Edition disc-holder). I now have a urge to see if the Legendary Version is still available for pre-order anywhere.
Dude. I had chills the entire fucking time watching that video. This "Believe" ad campaign is simply amazing if you ask me.

Also, I'm pretty sure the diorama wasn't by WETA, it was made by some really famous guy who specifically does highly detailed miniatures like this.
The flash site is probably one of the best marketing tools i've seen...oh...ever. Exploring the battlefield, learning about what everthing is. And then at the end with Master Chief, man, i can't wait. I got chills when the grenade (?) starts to glow and he looks up...

Side note: i would love to have that mini-set that they are using for these commercials!

I also noticed that in the description, it says "This is where the Masterchief allowed himself to be captured" and turn the tide, blah blah. Makes me REALLY want to finish the story and finish the fight.

Why not just buy the Legendary edition if you are gona spend that much?
Because I am fucking nuts and I got nice deals from Family Video.
I'm going to call them in about half an hour to find out when they are going to be shipping the game. I'm getting the Limited Edition; $60.48 shipped with UPS Ground. Would be awesome if they ship these out on the 24th (or sooner) :)

The legendary is still available for pre-order everywhere. It doesnt seem very limited at this point.

I think the hype has finally got to me. Here we are, 11 days before release, and NOW I'm excited for Halo. Here we go again.

I'm the opposite. I'm suffering hype burnout. I'm actually rethinking my preorder with all the other stuff coming out that I know is good. I do want those HaloClix though, so I'll probably keep it.
