Halo 3 - General Discussion & Info

I haven't been paying too much attention to Halo 3 media, but just after watching that video of Forge alone shoots this game to the very top of my want list. The variety of weapons and vehicles this time 'round seems to great as well.

I actually liked the announcer and audience, brought some humor to the video.

My oh my, September 25th is getting closer and closer, and then when the countdown reaches 7 days, it is going to feel like the wait has restarted all over again.
 
Does anyone know when the Halo 3 promotion blitz begins at 7-11 and Burger King? I tried googling it but too many conflicting dates. My brother really wants the collector cups and I missed out on the Halo 2 cups last time around. Thanks.

A Burger King in Mid-Town Memphis had a sign up for Halo 3. Didn't see much else about it. Just some Halo 3 promotion. Maby they'll have some cups, But i don't care about a cup...ME WANS HALO.:bouncy: :bouncy: :bouncy: :bouncy: :bouncy:

I'm going to assume most people who play Halo don't even know about that PC versions.

I always have people asking me how I got Halo 2 achievements.

I bet less people know about Halo CE.

Of course its not going to be more popular than Halo 2 or Halo 1, those things are system sellers.

And nothing compares to CS are you kidding me.

But to say it's not popular at all is an understatement, it still gets a fair amount of play.

Okay that's fine, but would you agree that saying the flamethrower is old news, when most of the Halo fans have never used it, is ridiculous?

I wouldn't say ridiculous...slightly less than ridiculous. But I see your point, I'd say like 85%+ of Halo players don't know about the PC version.

On another note, Flamethrower looks fucking rawwwwwwwww. Can't wait.

EDIT: Funny coincidence, I was listening to the EGM Live podcast with Luke Smith and Brian Jerrard as guests and the EGM guys asked about the flamethrower. I didn't know it was a support weapon. They must've made it pretty damaging.

Oh that's right. I remember him being softened up a bit before the flamethrower too, maybe I was mistaken.

Looks to be the other person from that 1v1 match. The flamethrower kills someone extremely fast, and it looks like it can overheat.

The brute mauler shoots like a magnum.
 
Just came back from 7-Eleven and picked up a Halo 3 Slurpee cup...its badass!
Also looks like 7-Eleven has pre-orders for Halo 3 and will have a midnight sale on 9/25.

Edit: Looks like they'll have different collectable 3D cups and Mountain Dew GameFuel slurpee. I'll be sure to stop by later when they have more.

The flamethrower should be alright. Between the wielder's slow walking speed and the flames short range it shouldn't be to overpowering. I want to see what it does to a vehicle.

Even though many not have not heard of it, that does not make it "new". For example, I guarantee that most of typical halo 2 players have never heard of the scarab gun, let alone used it. If that was remade for Halo 3 (which it won't be), would you still consider it "new", just because not many players of one of the best selling xbox games heard of it (even though it was in the game)?

Oh and don't be a total ass and be like "oh you're too cool along with with 37 other people". Halo PC sold large amounts and there still are a bunch of people playing it.

helmet is too big, but that's because it would close to impossible to get the size of the helmet MC wears on a human head, because they are so close in size.
 
Just spent way too much money replacing my old stereo for a new 5.1 system. Receiver, speakers, stands and cables were about 900 bucks retail but I'm a cheapass and got them for around 600. Here is what I got:

Receiver
Speakers
Stands (4)


Halo 3 and sound... I thought about it and if the sound is as good as they say it is, a 5.1 system should make you a better halo player. It should atleast make you more alert to ambient noises. I wonder if footsteps will be heard? I doubt it b/c it may give an unfair advantage to those with a good stereo. Who knows? Anyways, those echoing gun bursts on Valhalla in the beta were the whole reason I started thinking about a stereo upgrade. 26 days can't go fast enough.

Oh I forgot... One off-topic question. Do the HDMI 360s do Dolby True HD? I have a HDMIless premium so I am curious if I will be limited. Fortunately I am not audiophilic enough to tell the difference between DTS and True HD (I hope). Thanks for listening to my rant. I assure you that this post has ALOT to do with Halo 3.
 
Those promo pics were pretty slick, but that is the Halo 2 Master Chief (look at the gauntlets) with a Halo 1/3 gun. If that suit was provided by Microsoft, I would say that was a significant oversight.
