You can play Infection in custom matches.

You can create a match and invite your friends to play.
 
I truly wish the little 5 pt achievements could be earned outside of Lone Wolves. I don't think I'll ever pull off another sword triple kill or laser double kill again.

I think that the achievements should be possible in any Ranked Playlist, but I'm not going to lose sleep over it.

I play almost exclusively ranked team slayer now. I used to play social slayer, but I don't see any reason not to play ranked with the opportunity for better ranks with it.

I agree, no sleep lost here either.

But you know what? I've really fallen in love with Social Slayer, because most matches are 5 on 5, which means, even if someone quits (5 on 4), it can still be a fairly balanced match. In ranked matches 4 on 3 is really difficult unless you play cheaply with grenades and camp.

The ultimate playlist for me would be Ranked 6 vs 6 Team Slayer to 75 score. 1 grenade, Battle Rifle

I have no idea what's going on, and I don't want to have to find out every single little thing about the latest hack in order know what it looks like and avoid people who use it.

But with everyone's willingness to harshly ban everyone in sight for next to nothing, I have to be nervous all the time wondering if I'll somehow manage to join a game where people are hacking and end up booted to kingdom come.

Its true, Pyro. You need to sit down and chill out. Bungie is very thorough when they check into cheating. Just because you are in a room with someone else who is cheating, you don't have to worry about getting banned. They have said before, plenty of times, that they have specific ways to tell when someone is cheating or not. If you know you aren't doing anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about.

It's hard to give someone the benefit of the doubt when it's rarely happened that way before. I doubt bungie gives a damn if they ban a few innocent people along their way to world domination. ;)

If people just fixed their game instead of going on a ban spree everytime someone finds a glitch, it would be a hell of alot more effective and I wouldn't have to think about it.

Is there an ignore option on this website? I can't stand this guy. How can you think that it's OK to use that many F-words and stand there like you have any validity in what you say? You sit there complaining and complaining and when someone tells you to STFU because you're just adding FILLER to your posts, you get on the offensive about them not reading what you have to say. No one wants to read the bullshit that you type up. How can anyone take you seriously when you're making these ridiculous posts that consist of constant F-words? It's almost like SPAM. Hey, he can win all the arguments that he wnats, I just don't want to read any more of his posts. I've tried ignoring it, but he makes so many and it's really annoying to see someone think they have a valid opinion when it's riddled with curse words.
 
Sweet, finally got my Overkill achievement today. Couple of plasma grenades and a shotty during a Crazy King match :) I'm stuck at 35, though :( maybe my speed upgrade will make things better, though...at least I'm not lagging out anymore.

Yeah, man. Once you get Overkill your Spartan gets little wings on his boots that make him zippier ;-)

But nah, that was a train-of-thought post. In retrospect it's a bit garbled, and for that I'm embarrassed. In reality, I decided to cough up $5 more per month to upgrade my connection. I was having some serious lag problems, even in small matches like Rumble Pit

I'm not a big fan of the achievement rounds, although I've sorta benefited from one of them. Everyone else was standing around setting up to get someone a killing frenzy, but before they could get started I shot through 3 of them with the laser. That's the only cheap one I've gotten. Yesterday a bunch of guys were standing around trying to get the steppin' razor achievement in a social match. I don't have a mic, so I just let them go at it for 5 minutes until they realized it wouldn't work.

I got so aggrivated tonight with the randoms I was playing with I had to quit playing.

It was nothing too ridiculous, but they were just constantly in my way. I had one guy run in front of me in the middle of sword lunge (hitting him instead of the guy). Another guy just was constantly in my way, specifically whenever I tried to backpedal (run backwards), this guy would always be blockinge my path, giving my opponents several nade double kills as I'm shouting "MOVE" into my headset.

Just annoying. I understand teamwork and sticking together, but there's no reason to be hovering around me.
 
I figure the only legit way to get a Mongoose kill is to stake out an area and wait for two people to start running at each other with assault rifles. The winner shouldn't have much health/shield left and you might actually get him. I'm also a little curious about the "Chop" achievement. It says you need to destroy a vehicle with machinery...does that mean a turret or something?
 
i literally got my mongoose mowdown at the very last second of a match on high ground, i was just cruising around trying to run the bastards over, and none of them were still long enough to hit, then just after it said 10 seconds left, i ripped through the base and one of them had just jumped down landing in front of me, i splattered him and then it said game over, i wish i had saved that film thinking back on it now.

We're In For Some Chop? Tsavo Highway, Legendary, let the AI drive the warthog, and shoot the turret off the Phantom.

? Why Legendary?

I did it on Normal on Tsavo Highway. There's a section where you come across 2 of those supply huts, you'll find 2 land mines in one of them. You're either going to have to use both land mines on one single Brute Chopper (2 or 3 of them come into the area) or damage one enough with grenades to take it out using just one land mine.
 
I did it first time through (heroic) on one of the earlier levels. First time you see a brute chopper there's a bunch of land mines, I just tossed it out there and stood back for a while.
 
I got my Mongoose kill the other day. Someone went AFK near a wall, I had some good speed going and Splat. Straight luck, homie.

Tsavo Highway, 2nd checkpoint, when you're in the room with 3 mines, pick one up, clear all of the brutes that keep coming down from the ships, next area there's brutes in choppers that come at you, set a mine down, shoot to damage and let them run into your mine.. and "were in for some chop" is achieved.

You would think that Halo 2's super jumps would have taught Bungie not to use the Havok physics engine with Halo again (I even thought I remembered reading an article about them not wanting to bring it back to Halo 3), but here we are again.

That last jump in Guardian is retarded.


Stupid exploits like these and other things that need to be patched have really turned me off of Halo.
 
I don't play anything but Team Slayer and Lone Wolf....those videos seem to show other maps that I've never seen. Does Big Team Battles and/or other game types have different maps than Team Slayer/Lone Wolf?

Damn...I always thought that their map count was small. Never played Forge or custom games, I never know when I'm going to be playing till I'm playing so I can never join in on my friends matches when they coordinate.

The best/worst thing to happen to Halo was adding Live support. I've had a blast playing online MP, but the days of getting together with 16+ people at someone's house with cables running everywhere and everyone huddled around TVs was hands down more fun. Playing with/against so many people made it more of an event. None of my crew missed a Halo night unless they had something really important going on. Or maybe my friends just suck?
 
I've only ever played Team Slayer and Lone Wolves (also in social playlists), and I've seen all those maps... haven't seen every map in Halo 3 yet, though, either.

The very last one in the video? (where he goes up the shaft-looking thing?) Actually I thought that was one of the less cheap ones. It's something you could actually do in real life.

It's the ones where they use the slanted parts of the map to boost that are cheap, because they defy all laws of physics and reality.
