Halo 3 - General Discussion & Info
Bungie has stated that the Halo series can be best appreciated when played on Hard. This has not stopped me from then replaying through on Legendary.
I thin they said heroic. On legendary it can be very frustrating with out co-op friends.

You are all crazy. All three games were great in their own aspects.

Halo: CE had an awesome story line and single player. I played through it at least 30+ times. And no, I'm not exaggerating. If I ever had any friends over all they would want to do is play Halo so we did a lot of campaign.

Halo 2 had an awesome multiplayer. Better than Halo: CE and Halo 3 combined. I never finished the Halo 2 story line though. I just think it sucked.

Halo 3 has a decent mutli player. It's solid, but not as fun as Halo 2. The campaign was great. I must have beaten it about 6 times already. Again, with friends. And I still play the game on occasion.

If I had to choose which game out of all three was the best I would go with Halo 2. I had a lot of fun with that multiplayer. Halo 3 is following Halo 2 very closely. It's a fun game, but there are more bullshit moments in Halo 3 then in 2.

What you mean halo 2 is more fun then 34 when they are exactly the same. The maps are superior so i guess that is why you like it. I hope coloses and ivory tower return.

I think we are both prone to mistakes. Heroic = Hard. There are too many games to keep it all straight.

True! I did complete this with a co-op partner. I wish all games would have a co-op campaign (both online and off) - makes it a blast to play. You hear that Insomniac and Guerrilla Games - campaign co-op is fun!

Anyone wants to get skulls/terminals/beat legendary with me? PM me.

Only 1 requirement- must have beaten normal mode

We will play on specified dates and will make a chart of each mission and if they have terminals and skulls.

I am pumped, it will be a good holiday weekend.

Can't wait, I'll be getting home from work in the AM when they come out and will be off the whole day. I also won 400 points from the T-Mobile registration on XBL, so it'll seem like I'm getting 50% off the maps.

They're available now. I'm seeing if there's going to be a CAG night for these maps or not. It wouldn't be right to get something and not have anyone to play with.

Probably already mentioned, but are the Legendary Maps free now? Or free with mythic? or soon to be free?

From what I have read, Bungie has said they will never be free.

I had assumed Legendary would go free today. If not, that sucks. I already have them, but the more people that have them the better IMO.

I'll probably pick up the Mythic Maps today assuming the 2XP list requires them and is something fun.

QFT, that sucks I always figure they were free when the next maps came out, my friend just got a 360 and I was having him wait on the legendary but if this is true he will have to pick them up soon with the Mythic maps.

CAGCAST Game Night?!?

I got 900 points on my account and I want the maps. I'm not going to get them just yet though..

Also I wonder if the Legendary maps are now on marketplace for free? Like that Bungie did with the first set of DLC.

Well the 2XP list doesn't require Mythic (that surprised me) and the only list that did when I was on yesterday is the one that mentions the Halo Wars code they've had up for weeks. Didn't motivate me to buy them yet. Not saying I won't pick them up over the weekend, but I was hoping for a new list that would have a ton of people on.

Double XP lists will start to require Mythic next month. They aren't making any playlists require them until next month because they want to give people a chance to buy them. I don't really know if they need to wait a month for that but that's what they're doing.

And the Mythic playlist had like 60,000 people on it last night when I was on, so I don't know how that isn't a ton of people. I don't get why it has to by a new playlist because it'd be new to you if you're just buying the maps now.

I figured the existing list probably did have a lot of people, but it's good to get confirmation.

I'm just not a big fan of a single hodgepodge list being the only place to use the new maps. I suppose it's inherent with the maps being pay content. Only a fraction of players will buy them, so they can't require them on too many lists or the populations of those lists will be too small for satisfactory MMing times. Still, I'd like to see (minimum) a Team Slayer and a Team Objective list split out.

They really need to make Legendary free so it can be rolled into all of the playlists.

I haven't paid for maps yet (thanks Circuit City for Ninja Gaiden deal) but all my friends are getting these maps and I don't want to be a douchebag.

But I also don't want to give MS ten bucks for maps either.
Is it just me or are the Mythic maps underwhleming when compared to Heroic and Legendary?
Well...there's nothing really new about these maps. Heroic had Foundry while Legendary had the camera effects. Mythic has a Foundry in Sandtrap basically.

im in the same situation well just my one friend i play halo with got em and even though i have 15k in points,i refuse to buy them because of the CC deal and getting the heroic pack when it became free so im attempting to not pay for any map pack even though the points i got cost next to nothing

You guys know that you could just get your friends accounts and get the maps for way less right?
It once worked where like 6 or so all got the maps from 1 download...but usually it only works with 2 max. I'm sure everyone knows the 1/2 price DLC thing though since theres a sticky here...

You could always wait until Halo 3: ODST to come out, which will have all Halo 3 maps on the disc. But I guess you'd still be paying for them.

i mean standalone i would count odst as different since it has a campaign plus i dont plan to pay full price for it

All H3 maps are underwhelming compared to H2 maps. They even remade Lockout and Chill out. I still don't know how they managed to fuck that up.

Silver and Gold

For Silver Xbox LIVE Members feeling left out of the Mythic Multiplayer experience, Microsoft is gonna hook you up this weekend. Starting today, 04/10 at 9AM PST, and running through Monday, 04/13 at 9AM PST, Silver Xbox LIVE accounts will be able to play with everyone else in Halo 3's Matchmaking. If you've already got Gold, make sure you drag your Silver friends online this weekend so they can throw down with you in Mythic style. It's on Microsoft.

I like the new maps. Played some very creative Sandbox forges and some Halo 2 remakes. I like orbital the best, but Sandbox has great forge potential. Too bad I have no creativity, hopefully some 12 year old will make a great map.

I find it interesting that Sandbox has 3 levels to it. I just kinda wish you could fall all the way down to the middle level, though. I'm hoping someone makes an Outdoor Grifball map because I think that'd be kinda fun.

Orbital...seems like a very cool Infection map if done right. But I haven't had much time with it.

Assembly though seems like a disaster.

Wait, how much is ODST? I only got the free maps, BUT I got halo 3 legendary edition. If all I have to do is sell my copy of halo 3 then pay a little more for 2 sets of maps, I'll just wait.

Price hasn't been officially set for the game , but the rumors going around seem to point to either $40 or $50. Bungie has been on record for saying that they don't want to charge full price for it , but how much less than full price it is is anyones guess.
Bungie doesn't want it to be full price. Microsoft will make it full price.
Valid point , but then again this is bungie , they might have extra pull , much like most of rares games as of late haven't been full price either.

The reason the latest 2 Rare games were budgeted were because all of Rare's games this generation have sold like crap.

The inverse though is also true. You know that ODST is going to sell really well , so its not like it has to be priced at $60 for them to still make a lot of money off it.

You don't undercharge for what is perceived to be a AAA title that will sell millions of copies in the first few days.

Also expect to see an $100+ Legendary Edition with an Elite helmet.

Perceived to be an expansion to a AAA title.

I think all three packs are on par with each other. 2 great maps and 1 mediocre one. In my opinion, the mediocre ones being Rat's Nest (Heroic), Avalanche (Legendary), and I'm leaning towards Orbital (Mythic) being the weak link in this pack. (Yes, I enjoy Blackout, despite the minor nuanced differences).

More than anything, I just want to see a Foundation remake.

Foundation Remake on Sandbox http://www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=6962547

Personally I think Assembly is the weak link. I think the map is way too open with little cover. I am really enjoying Orbital and the battles down the long hallways.

I'd buy it... after a couple of months when it will be $30.

I've only gotten to play on Assembly once but I enjoyed it. It's a lot more smaller than any other map. There's plenty of cover on the map, you just need to know how to stay out of view and sometimes off the radar.

I have been spending a ton of time in Forge lately with Foundry, Cold Storage, Last Resort, and Guardian. I also make a custom game type for every map I make. That way I can tailor the experience even more than normal.

I don't have Mythic because I'll wait for ODST.
