Halo 4 out November 6th!!

Went to Best Buy with CAG member Kendal, as we did in the past for Halo 3 & Reach as well.

Mister Chef showed up about 30 minutes before midnight.

I didn't even buy it there, my Amazon copy will be here later today. Got a free shirt and free drink out of it though. Just went with Kendal since he was buying it.

They had inflatable helmets, dog tags, and plasma sword pens to pick from besides the shirt. After seeing what the shirt I got looked like (the XXL was different than the other sizes, which I didn't realize at the time - the smaller sizes was a big "4" and the XXL I got is just a monochrome version of the box art...no thanks) I sorta wish I got the ridiculous helmet instead.

Saiyan, if you haven't figured it out yet, from just about any menu, press start and it goes to your Spartan customization. From there L and R bumper to change armor or loadout or emblem. If you redeemed all the codes, you should see lots of stars all over the new items.

Got up to SR17 so far in multi, really enjoying the game. Waiting a while on one of my friends before I do the campaign or spartan ops but it's all good as I played a ton of Reach online and I feel this will be the same, especially with all the dailies/weeklys/monthly.
Sean we need to up our game, we both sucked
 I hadn't even noticed you joined me. I had a couple bad games adjusting to the new play style. My last game (when I unlocked the new plasma rifle as my main) I was in first place.

Sorry I didn't join your party. My fiancé and dog were sleeping right next to me and I knew I couldn't play long anyway, I'm startin work at 8 am today :/

goddamnit i am tired of best buy's shit. the game STILL has not shipped. my order says it will ship in 1-2 days. fuck you. i even called them to confirm it would get here today. ridiculous. i'm probably going to buy a copy at walmart today, then return the copy from best buy.

I knew how to access the menu but my pre order content wasn't in the menu. I have them now. I'm not sure if I needed to restart my Xbox or if it was just because the servers were down.

Ahhh. I downloaded what seemed like 10 codes before I started the game (thank you chatpad). They were all there when I started. Glad it.got sorted out for ya.
Hands down the best MP in halo I have ever played. My only complaint is the saw is too powerful lol.
Yeah I definitely agree. Needs to be toned down a little.

The multiplayer makes 3 and reach feel like outdated garbage.
I want my damn smiley emblem. It's the only one I've ever used, going back to Halo 2. :(
So that means no frowny face? fuck MY FACE, I'm in the same boat. Been using it since H2 as well.

Xbox newbie here - I missed out on this series entirely, but I'm interested in playing the games. I picked up Halo1 HD last year and just couldn't get into it. Without the nostalgia to propel me through the campaign, the map design and the games ability to guide me through the levels fell flat.

If I want to start playing them - is 4 the best launch point? Or would it make more sense to start at 3 or Reach? I'm only looking to play the campaigns - not interested in multiplayer.

H1, H2, H3 ODST, H3 and H4
You can add Halo wars and Halo reach before Halo 1, if you want the complete experience.

^I understand the chronology of the games - I wasn't sure if the story line for Reach and 4 was removed enough from the originals to be a good launching point for a new player.

First impressions from last night of about 3 hours of gameplay:

I love it, it feels like Halo is back for sure, HOWEVER, the only real armor ability I find relatively useful is thrusters but not in their current state. It needs a major buff in my opinion because as it stands now it's like you're taking a step or a half step in any direction which is less than useful.

It's not useful from what I've tried to do with it last night, which is use it as a sort of double jump or a long jump to reach higher/further places in one leap. Yes I'm aware there is the jetpack. The only armor abilities I ever used in Reach were Sprint and Armor Lock, now Sprint is available to everyone so my choices have been cut in half so this is why I'm so pro-buff Thruster.

If I'm maybe not utilizing it properly please let me know because I feel like it can be a huge advantage if the speed/distance covered was buffed a bit.

I swore off the DMR from Reach and was happy to see the BR back in the series but now that I've got my hands on both, I feel like the BR doesn't pack the punch it used and that I was hoping for from H3 and the DMR in general seems to do more damage in less bullets. I'm sure that's as intended because of the 3 round burst/semi auto ROFs of the two rifles. I haven't done any real testing on the two but it feels (probably in my head) that the DMR is stronger and gives you more bang for your buck (more damage for less trigger pulls).

Of course the lag was in attendance last night and I'm not sure if the lag was a contributing factor to the kill cams being completely useless or not, but whenever I did catch a kill cam, my killer was shooting at the ground, the crosshair was never one me, or I wasn't even on the screen the kill cam was showing.

I feel like the Warthog handles a little different than from Reach, can't put my finger on it but just feels different. Wrath is about the same, maybe a little more easier to maneuver as I got a Kill frenzy in it last night and splattered 3 people as soon as I got my hands on it.

Due to my memory of Reach being foggy I can't be sure if the Rockets/Spartan Laser has been toned down or not, but I shot a Warthog with a direct hit rocket and it managed to survive, same with the Spartan Laser and a Wraith so needless to say I was hoping for a 1 hit kill in both circumstances but got nothing.

Domination is pretty fun, didn't think I'd like it because I never really got into HQ mode in COD but I'm sure Domination has its place now in the Halo world.

The game is a lot of fun and I'm pretty excited to keep playing, for those people that have not played a Halo shooter in quite a while like myself it will take sometime to re-adjust to the weapons and basically re-learn how to play because the weapons have been toned so differently.

Its actually Reach/1/2/3/4 if you want story I agree with you on H1 Anniversary I played the original on my Xbox and loved it but at this point can't get into it. H3 while good I would say start with Reach and then play 4 I played the shit out of reach and Bungie went all out so I feel it is a must play. From the little time I have played 4 I enjoy it quite a bit but I have only played MP because like most I am waiting for friends to trek through it.
There are only 12 stock emblems as far as I can tell. They removed the pimp hat : (
I know there's a bunch of unlockable ones.

I never touched Halo before 3, and I was never really interested in the series storyline; but I personally enjoyed Reach and 4's campaign. As a newbie to Halo, I had no idea what was happening in 3 or 3 ODST and just lost interest half way through. There's always this if you want to catch up on the Halo story without playing every game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIwnrIOqhO8
Anyone found any skulls? I have not yet.
There are none. The modifiers are already unlocked from the beginning.

I've played all the Halos but that was a nice quick recap for when I start playing Halo 4. "WTF IS THAT?!" haha, couldn't of said it better myself.

Ugh....my MS Store order that shipped next day air Monday is stuck in Philly. Looks like my Newegg order will get here first tomorrow. Disappointed.

I was shocked at the free next day air for the Microsoft Store. I live in California. I ordered Saturday morning. It shipped from Pennsylvania. Got here today. Pretty amazing turnaround.

Finished the game earlier(little over 8 hours). (played on Normal) Fantastic game. Honestly it's the first time the graphics have wowed on any level since the original game. Makes you wonder why Bungie couldn't pull off a "next gen" looking Halo.

Holy crap at the ending. Also stay after the credits, there is an extra scene.

If you're just interested in the campaigns, definitely play them in release order. Sure Reach is a prequel but I don't think the ending will have near the impact it has if you play it first.

1, 2, 3, ODST, Reach, 4

I sincerely don't mean to be offensive to anyone, but there's 24 days left in November. Do people really spend 6 hours a day playing Halo?

To be exact, 140 hours to earn $7.50. That is a whopping nickel per hour.

The Chinese factories that pressed the game pay better rates than that.

Just played the first two levels so far, currently installing Disc 2 so I can dip my toe into the multi. I agree that the graphics are unbelievable, really some next-level stuff.

Halo is back baby! Always bought Halos the day of release but was always let down multiplayer wise "Yawn, I'll be bored of this in a week". Halo 4 feels fresh, like others said it feels actually next gen, definitely the best Halo yet, multiplayer is fantastic.

I haven't been blown away of a Halo like this since the Halo 1 launch on original Xbox.
Probably a dumb question, but does the limited edition come with the smiley emblem unlocked?
Nope. Dog tags only. Lame as hell.

"let's take all this content that has started out as unlocked for 10 years and lock it for incentive." Loved the campaign and what 343 has accomplished, but damn that's a huge fail.

Have been playing Regicide on and off throughout the day today and wasn't sure how I felt originally, but I think I like the change to FFA. Makes it a bit more tense and leaves the game a little more "open" in a sense. That said, I'd like to see some traditional slayer modes make a return as well.

finished up all the missions for episode 1 on spartan ops gotta say I miss Fire Fight but am having a blast still. Online is just as fun as I remember it to be.

What a great game. I was big into Halo, Halo 2, and 3. I probably put more hours into Halo 3 than any other online multiplayer game ever. Unfortunately, Reach was a flop for me. I just couldn't get into it for whatever reason, just seemed very unbalanced and all the abilities and stuff was to much.

However, I'm having a absolute blast with Halo 4. You can see the Call of Duty-like additions but the game still feels like Halo and that's what matters.
