Halo: Reach
? Why didn't you run away. It's not hard to run away from someone trying to betray you, given that there's no auto-aim on teammates
I was trying to avoid getting sniped, but he was jet packing remember? I ran around what looked like a tractor trailer....trailer a few times, crouching etc. If I simply ran, it would have been a much easier time to get sniped on the open map. It was obvious he was mad bro, so I lose 1 chance for +1 perfection commendation but he lost all credit for that match. Totally worth it for someone like that.
Anyone using the Xbox feedback system much with Reach? I'll "Avoid" anyone for quitting... my team, the other team, whatever. I probably left feedback for 10 quitters last night.
Yep. I also like that there's an option to avoid people who are "too good" now. That can help with the rare cases where you get matched up with someone way above you in skill level.

As well as avoiding quitters, shit talkers etc. etc. I don't generally file complaints, but I'll use the avoid systems pretty aggressively.

He sniped you while jetpacking without any auto-aim?

I find that hard to believe. I'm not doubting that he wasn't being a dick, but at the same time it doesn't sound like you tried very hard to avoid him.

He shouldn't have to avoid him

Snarf?

Scenerio: 5 enemies remaining, I killed 2 on my side of the map (Outpost), the other 3 guys w/sniper rifles killed the other 3 on their side. They were all sniping from the UNSC center base. I was on the ground w/the fuel rod gun score multikills remember?

When the last covi died to sniper fire, I started to head for cover. Past experience proved to me that at the end of the game, most ppl will kill you just because the game is over. I noticed his 0000 or whatever he put in for his call sign moving closer to me, so I tried to position myself behind the trailer thing for cover. I ran around maybe twice before he flew over head and shot down at me. Auto aim or not, I got sniped. Died, betrayed, booted him before the screen faded out for post game recap.

He had the 2nd highest score, only 1000 ish behind mine, so can't say he didn't contribute or was a bad shot but he was a poor sport regardless.

Some ppl get lucky shots, some ppl are just good at sniping. I'm going to say I was just in the wrong place at the last second.

Yeah, what is it about Halo that brings out the biggest dicks in the online world? Maybe once a week you get matched up with someone that is fun and a decent player, the other 99.9% of the time it's 12 year olds that just leraned their first curse words and ghetto clowns that think they can prove their thug credentials by busting virtual caps in various asses.

I was at a loss for words when someone t-bagged my spartan's foot after his teammate killed me. Part of me was like, wtf? the other part was...you realize you're humping my foot right and your spartan is the female model so this is just entertainment for me now.

Swat on Hemorrhage has to be the worst idea ever. I don't understand why Swat is found in other playlist other than the Swat playlist. I was playing multi team and had the misfortune to play the suckfest that is Swat on Hemorrhage. Not only is everyone camping, everyone is too far away to kill with the DMR. It didn't shock me that the game ended because time ran out.

I also ran into a real jerk today. This is what happened. I pick up the sniper and this guy betrays me becuase he wants it. I was like "Oh HELL no" and betray him to get my sniper back. Sure enough, he comes back, kills me and takes my sniper. Then I was like "WTF?! Are you serious?! >:3" and did him a favor by scratching his back with my fist. So I retrieve my sniper and think the nightmare is over because I thought its 3 strikes and your out for betrayals. To my disbelief, this guy comes back for more. I thought "That's right, come over here and kill me so I can boot your ass". He starts to fire at me and was like :D, then an enemy ghost does a drive-by on me and I was like D: The jerk then picks up my sniper and I can not touch him because I already killed him twice. I was so PISSED!

I was under the impression you could boot from the first betrayal?

Sometimes, the option to boot does not appear. It's happened to me a bunch. I don't know if there are actually any requirements, or if the system is simply glitchy.

Do people who keep changing their vote every second on the voting screen think they are cool?

I dont think thats the reason, I think they are looking to glitch the gametype choices and what I mean by that is if enough people do that the system goes crazy and it will keep giving you a brand new set of gametypes to vote for, I know this because it happened on one lobby in BTB, I swear that we had 5 different gametype changes people were voting back and forth until the time expired.
Ugh, what is the infatuation with Infection? Wanted to knock out a few quick challenges last night and getting a high number of kills in that mode is impossible. On the other hand Oddball just rakes in the kills, which is the game I got after Infection. Kinda balanced things out. lol
Yeah, I went Rumble Pit to try to get the 77 kills challenge. What a mistake. So many non-slayer match types. Race was the worst of them. But I did mop up on Juggernaut, getting an avatar item for getting a killtac in multiplayer, I think. Ended up going into Arena to get my last 37 kills.
Anyone using the Xbox feedback system much with Reach? I'll "Avoid" anyone for quitting... my team, the other team, whatever. I probably left feedback for 10 quitters last night.
I do it all the time.
I'll mark someone "Avoid player" if they deliberately betray me in FF. i.e. One match on snipers, I picked up the fuel rod gun and was getting avg 2.5 killtacular's every wave. Didn't die all game, neither did spank nuts who was sniping from one of the rooftops. End of game, I saw him jetpacking toward me and I hid. He finally managed to position himself to snipe me. As the "well done spartans" announcement started I booted his punk ass. Seriously, why ruin a perfection for me...so he didn't get any credit for his match. Sucker. I'm all for ppl that want to be competitive but there's thousands of players, I can do without a few wet blankets.
After the match like that, or at least, sort of after the match, does that really affect your death count? I thought it was like killing teammates in Team Slayer after the game was over -- it was undocumented fun.

I've never gotten the teabagging thing...I don't do it, I don't get people doing, doesn't bother me if they do. Also...every time I play, everyone is on mute. Silence is indeed golden

Why not just vote for a new set of gamemodes from the start instead of trying to blow the system up?

I don't mute everyone but I don't play with a headset on. Usually I hear a couple douchebags talking shit to each other so if one is on the opposite team I'll probably throw a couple crouches on his corpse cuz odds are he will rage and it's always hilarious.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised considering the average age of XBL users, especially on a Halo game, is most likely under 11.
Yeah bro, fuckin' pussies using strategies and shit
Umm yeah strategy is to not put yourself in that position in the first place. Armor locking when you're about to loose a dmr battle in arena is just straight up being a pussy. I stand by my statement radar and any other armor abilities besides sprint dont belong in arena keep them in regular modes, but thats all.

I really don't care about my KDR, it only counts for Arena. As for undocumented fun? He had fun sniping me at the last second in FF, I had fun booting him for his unprovoked betrayal. Game on bro. ;)

It's what it's there for, man. The guy's not being a pussy, he's using the ability to save himself.

If you don't want abilities, play Halo 3.

Seriously. The game has changed. This is Reach.

What's funny is that every person who says "this is cheap, that is cheap"...guess what...you do something that other people find cheap. Just about every, single tactic anyone has in any game is thought of as cheap by someone. I've had people tell me I'm cheap. If I use the shotgun, I'm cheap. If I use the sprint to double melee someone, I'm cheap. If I snipe someone, I'm cheap. Everything is cheap. Apparently, no one has ever gotten a legitimate kill in a video game...ever.

The guy who used the armor ability to save himself, he probably lost out on some kills over not having another ability. If he could sprint, he might have caught someone from behind and assassinated them. If he had the jetpack, the guy he was shooting on another level might not have gotten away. Maybe, he would have killed you in a different circumstance earlier in the game if he had another ability.

I dont have a problem with abilities, I'm saying they dont belong in Arena. Arena is supposed to be a competitive environment, well right now it isn't. I would say that Team Slayer is more competitive, because at least there you get the option of Slayer Pro. It is a major annoyance to me to out dmr someone only for him to armor lock at the last possible second before his buddy comes along and kills me. That type of shit isn't competitive and I for one can't wait until they fix it in Season 3.

Edit1: Just in case anyone misunderstood me I dont have a problem with armor abilities they work really well in other gametypes, they just dont belong in Arena.

That's completely competitive! It may not be what MLG uses (and mind you, I have no idea what their setup is), but what isn't competitive about it? Armor Locking while his teammate kills you is freaking teamwork.

Sounds like JohnBoy needs to get some friends; if you had a buddy with you focus firing, you wouldn't need to worry about "pussies" armor locking in your face and watching you eat their friend's bullets.

When me and my buddy played, he used armor lock solely for that purpose; you stick together with your teammate(s), act as a distraction, and then you lock and your teammates get the kill.

LOL then keep it in team slayer or any other gametype, get it out of Arena. Arena is just supposed to be about you and your dmr, no armor abilities to get in the way.

MLG doesn't have it so everyone spawns with armor abilities, you have to find them around the map and you loose them when you die.

I have friends, except none of them play Arena which is what I like to play, so I have to rely on random teammates who of course do fuck all. Exactly what you posted right there is the reason I'm really starting to hate Arena, remove radar and armor abilities from Arena and you'll see how that strategy starts working for you.

I didn't like Arena at first, but now that I know I can play with a friend and armor lock at the last minute and have my friend kill people I will make it my main matchtype.

Just let it go. I had these same issues with H3 and Reach, and still do, but it's not Halo 2 and never will be Halo 2.

If you asked me to compare Halo 3 and Reach's multiplayer to Halo 2, I'd say Halo 3 is a pile of dog shit, and Reach is roughly the same weight, size, and smell of said dog shit. Halo 2 would be something akin to a giant, giant, giant pile of money and gold.

The others complaining about your complaint likely never played MLG style Halo so I can see their point.

P.S. If 343 Industries released Halo 2 with XBL functionality, I would literally pay $100 for it.

I would say add me to play but Arena is just garbage. I won't touch it until there are at least some improvements. Like you said it's supposed to be for competitive players, yet they have abilities and radar and crap in there. It all makes for a very monotonous uncompetitive experience. And the gametypes / settings are just the tip of the iceberg with what is wrong with arena.

Me, too. You wanna do the armor lock, or will I?

Yeah I'll drop it, its not like complaining about it will do any good anyway. I just want to know why Bungie dropped the Slayer Pro option from Arena. Their decision still baffles me.

I think there should be two options in arena, one to play the way it is, ranked, halo reach with abilities, and another that is more traditional, no radar, no abilities and dmr.

I dont think the way it is now is bad, its just theres not another competitive option. Id be surprised if bungie didnt add that playlist to arena.

They're working on a Team Hardcore/MLG playlist. It's just going through testing, and they hope to get it out in November? This is from memory, but I think that's what the last weekly update said.

Im aware of that, they need that playlist in arena.
then you get both playstyles in the ranked arena environment.

Yeah exactly before arena had 2 options, slayer dmrs and slayer pro along with 2 map choices. Now its just slayer dmrs and not even a map choice. Its really fun playing on pinnacle 2 times in a row.

Not everyone is good. If you're competitive and want to win, start a clan or at least play with other friends who are good. Or just stick with Rumble Pit.

I play to have fun and have plenty of bad games as I don't have time to "practice" and really learn the maps etc. on top of just not having great aim etc.

Not everyone has the interest, time or ability to be good at online gaming.

I found I was having the most fun when playing with 4 buds of mine in a party. Obviously it's better than just playing with randoms, and when cool shit happens you can all remark about it.

Except for my buddy Nate. Good guy, but he has that MLG "WELP MY KDR IS SHIT NOW" attitude when it comes to online gaming.

It really is so much better playing with friends. all bullshitting and laughing abotu wacky shit that happens. its great.

Anyone feel like rumble pit is just different in this one? I can't put my finger on it but I always seem to come in near the bottom. The thing is my K/D will still be really positive +5 or +6 but I somehow always have one of the lowest scores. Comparing to Halo 3 where I was a 42 in Lone Wolves and was always near the top. Not really complaining, just an odd thing I find myself in whenever I play rumble pit. Anyone else find this as well?

Are you completely used to the DMR? It could be that or you haven't memorized where the power weapons are located at yet.

What does that have to do with someone going 1 and 14? It's not like he just got the game he was a WO3. I find it odd that people enjoy doing bad. I don't freak out like most people do if I have a bad game but I'm not gonna keep playing something I'm bad at because it's not fun. It's not a job, you don't HAVE To do it so why would you keep doing something you're bad at?

SWAT for example, isn't a hard concept to wrap your head around, no shields, DMRs only, aim for the head. Besides that it's not so much the player that bothers me it's the fact that the game put him on my team. It's not like I'm super pro I have a little over 200 more games than you do yet you don't have "time" to "practice" yet you have a .65 KDR and I have a 1.39 KDR with a difference of 200 and some games.

I don't think practice or not knowing the maps is the problem, you're just bad, no offense, and there's a lot of players like you as well it just bugs the shit out of me when they play SWAT knowing they are bad.

Yeah haha it may just be that the few games I've played I've been unlucky and most of the action happens away from me or something. I regularly grab the sniper or anything else I can;). I'm thinking it has more to do with sprint and other things related to my position on the map, but then again the number of rumble pit games I've played in comparison to other stuff like Team Slayer, is really small.

In my opinion sprint really is good, because you can easily run around corners evading enemy fire and if they suck at DMRing you can easily out DMR them.
