Anybody interested in imports, EzyDVD is doing a 2 for 50 (or 25 a pop) sale for Universal titles.

http://www.ezydvd.com.au/promo.zml?pid=647&ddat=1&dsal=1&dper=1

Import exclusive titles include

Rambo 1-3
The Holiday
Total Recall

And there is also non-combo versions of

Children Of Men
Smokin' Aces
American Werewolf In London
Miami Vice

for you combo haters.

The really nice thing is that the AUD is weaker than the US dollar. So I was able to grab Rambo: First Blood for only 27.23 AUD (US $22.39)
I'm think it was about $46ish for my two...

Nope, it's been $22.37 the whole time and the charge is now completed.

You may want to call them or send them an email. Could be a mistake.
Sporadic,

Is that $22 each? I bit for two.
I only bought Rambo and including shipping, I was charged $22.37

I don't even notice it.

At FYE.com Knocked Up is available for pre-order on HD-DVD for only 20.99 after rebate and then you can use the 10% coupon for new users (WELCOMECCTEN). Best deal I can find for this amazing movie so far.

I've gotten a couple. They took around a month to arrive. They're getting better compared to the old days. IIRC they sent me an email to let me know when they received the rebate, and that it was in process.

Sold! Thanks for posting it.
anyone actually gotten their rebates from fye?
The only time I've done a rebate from FYE, I got it within a month. It was for $70 so it was worth the wait but for something like a few dollars, you have to weigh the options. I couldn't find a better price for Knocked Up HD though, so I went ahead and ordered. Basically, if you don't mind waiting a month for a $7 check, FYE is the way to go.

A list of all of the valid deals so far would be cool so people don't have to wade through 6 pages.

Same here. I'm going to either call tomorrow and check the status of the hd-dvds.

@anomynous I don't know if its a blind buy. I saw the movie in the theater and the first half an hour was ok but it kind of turns serious when that chick is pregnant. If it was me I would just rent it.

That's probably what I'm going to do...........
nice deal on knocked up. I havent seen the movie, do you guys think I should blind buy it?
Most definately!!!!

Most people on AVS were reporting a 2 month wait for their 5 free movies which I only imagine would become longer as they get swamped with orders.

Just be patent.

The rebate did say it was 8-10 weeks for processing/shipping, so yeah, just be patient. Only the really early people back when the deal started, probably received theirs already.

hello all,

Just a quick question I see HD DVD movies on the sites you listed, But I have a few questions

1) These movies are not available to buy in the USA

2) Do these movies only have english subititles or do they play in english

3) If they play in english do you have to do anything special on the menu screen

4) Anybody know if Fantastic Four rise of the silver surfer is coming to HD-DVD, or any of the Spidermans.

5) Are there any sites that give reviews of the movies on HD-DVD's

Thanks for putting up with the questions

Highdef digest is the best review site.

As far as your audio and subtitle options - generally speaking, the movie's audio is whatever the movie was originally made in, unless otherwise noted.

In other words, just because you buy an american movie from germany doesn't mean it will just be dubbed in German. That has happened in one or two cases I think, but it's rare.
1) These movies are not available to buy in the USA
Yeah, other studios have international rights and thanks to HD-DVD being region free, we can benefit from it.
2) Do these movies only have english subititles or do they play in english
Just about every movie that was originally in English has an English soundtrack. Although some movies have forced un-English subtitles when you select the English track (Serpico and Terminator 2: Disc 1) and some movies that are in another language don't include English subs (Ran and a few others)

This thread over at HighDefDigest is a good guide.
3) If they play in english do you have to do anything special on the menu screen
I know there's one movie where you have to do something special to get rid of the un-English subtitles but I can't remember the name.

Most of the time though only thing you have to do is select the English track in the options.
4) Anybody know if Fantastic Four rise of the silver surfer is coming to HD-DVD, or any of the Spidermans.
Sony has the rights worldwide for the Spiderman series so they won't ever come out on HD-DVD.

I have no idea about Fantastic Four Rise Of The Silver Surfer. I imagine it would be coming soon since the first one has been released in Germany.

- edit Fantastic Four 2 is coming out in Germany in December.

That was Underworld: Evolution from Spain.

Damn, I had to pay tax, so even with the code, it came to about $27. I'm just gunna get it from Amazon where its $19.99, and I won't have to wait for a rebate.

No...I'm pretty sure it will...I have Fantastic Four on HD DVD and it has a preview to FF2 on it. Sporadic above mentioned it will be coming towards the end of the year....in Germany but since HD DVD is region free...it can be imported through xploitedcinema.com

When I bought 300 it charged when it shipped, so I assume thats the way it works.

I had an Amazon.com order pending with 4 HD DVD's from when they had the B2G1 free deal...I canceled one of my HD DVD pre-orders, Face/Off because It would ship sometime in November, but when I canceled it, they took the promotion off. I just emailed them about it, but what are the chances that they can/will fix it? Anyone had any similar issues like mine before?
They put a hold on the money just to make sure it's in your account and then it disappears after a few days.

If you preorder really early, every other month they will place a hold/make it disappear.

Don't ask me why. I just know they've done it to me 3 times since preordering A Room With A View/Galapagos July 13th.

They don't actually take your money until it ships.
