Imports Links: Exclusive Titles and Suggestions:
Anybody interested in imports, EzyDVD is doing a 2 for 50 (or 25 a pop) sale for Universal titles.

http://www.ezydvd.com.au/promo.zml?pid=647&ddat=1&dsal=1&dper=1

Import exclusive titles include

Rambo 1-3
The Holiday
Total Recall

And there is also non-combo versions of

Children Of Men
Smokin' Aces
American Werewolf In London
Miami Vice

for you combo haters.

The really nice thing is that the AUD is weaker than the US dollar. So I was able to grab Rambo: First Blood for only 27.23 AUD (US $22.39)

Oh, I know. I wasn't trying to bring back Say's Law or anything, I just wanted to know what everyone else was doing. Which one's are you guys selling?
I am in the same boat as you. I figure a ton of people must be waiting and if thats the case might as well sell early.

But I am sitting here trying to figure out what to do.
who says that hd is dying? they have more exclusive companies. br is a good technology but until it becomes more affordable to the common customer then there wont be any clear winner.
dunno about the more exclusive part, but the entry cost is alot cheaper than bd right now.. especially if you already have a 360.

Might as well get rid of it - it'll be a difference of about 20 bucks when selling right now compared to a few weeks ago.

Better that than to have a new drive pop up and make the one you're selling obsolete... Plus you're getting closer to Christmas/Black Friday when things drop in price too.
I scored a deal similar to that... if y'all wanna follow really quickly:

1. First trip to best buy, got HD-DVD drive and Heroes S1
2. Read CAG, decided to get my two free HD-DVDs on. Went back there, but the customer service person couldn't figure out how to get the deal, so she "returned" my drive and re-bought it along with the two DVDs i picked with a gift card. I tried to get The Departed and Planet Earth at first, but Planet Earth only showed up as discounted to $45, so I got Transformers instead.
3. Read CAG again today, decided enough is enough and went to a second best buy, got another drive, heroes, the matrix trilogy (no ultimate... bummer) and Planet Earth.
4. Went back to the first best buy and returned the extra drive and Heroes S1. She didn't bother asking about the other two free HD-DVDs, and probably would've let me keep the extra Heroes set since (in her words) I "got it for free anyway". Not wanting to push my luck I left and then...
5. Fist pumped in triumph.

Total Haul:
XBox360 HD-DVD add-on ($179.99 + tax = $193.26)
Heroes S1 HD-DVD set (free)
The Departed HD-DVD/DVD combo (free)
Transformers HD-DVD (free)
Planet Earth HD-DVD set (free)
The Complete Matrix Trilogy set (free)
5 HD-DVDs with mail-in rebate (free)
Taking advantage of an awesome CAG deal (priceless)
Dude, stealing is not a deal... The first two $34.99 and lower HD-DVDs should have been returned. Tsk tsk tsk, other than that, congrats on the score.

I'm selling now....I figure I will make $50-$100 after fees and what now. Will help fund my daughter's 1st Bday party even more now :)

Plus, I get 5 free HD-DVD's out of the deal. I'll take a $50 return for minimal effort on my part.

Was this today? Wondering if they "fixed the glitch"

i live in NH and me and a friend went last night and had no problem getting our dvd drives and box sets. might go back today and try again but not sure.

see, this is where you are just wrong, and most people don't seem to realize that a full featured XBOX is way more expensive..
if you go the XBOX360 route for HD, you will be spending more and getting less than if you go Blu Ray and buy a PS3.

XBOX 360 Premium 20GB - $350
XBOX 360 HD DVD addon $179
Wireless Adapter $80
Total $609

PS3 80GB + Wireless Built in + Blu Ray - $499
Total $499

I personally have both systems

Why the hell would you add a wireless adapter in that? Why not add $30 to the price of the xbox because it needs a card reader too? Your post makes little sense.

He drunk the kool-aid.

It's the same as when Sony tried to compare the price of the consoles but added a wireless adapter and a year of live onto the Xbox side.

sorry, you fail to understand the point i was making.. its pretty clear
Just wondering, I have seen a bunch of you guys getting Planet Earth. Is it really that good or what?
It's possibly the best-looking thing on HD-DVD right now. Plus it's a really excellent documentary. It took 5 years to make, cost $25 million, and was filmed in 62 countries and 204 locations.
sorry, you fail to understand the point i was making.. its pretty clear
I understand your point, but you could have made it a lot clearer by not adding in the wireless adapte in the cost of the xbox. It's like those retards who said the Wii was more expensive than a PS3 because you had to buy 3 extra controllers, nunnchuks, Zelda, protectors for the wiimotes, and an SD card. So, I guess I'm saying you make a good point but you're still a retard for the way you did it.

if you read my post, i clearly stated i own both systems, and love both of them.

but if you wanna bury your head in the sand, and not see the facts.. go right ahead my friend

i was merely pointing out what each system gives you for the money

I agree 100% ! But they are both great systems, if you can afford them both. These movie deals are great btw !!!

i keep forgetting how young some of you kids are here.. its ok.. i was a teenager too once, i understand :D

So here is an idea for any of you that already had an HD DVD add-on, and still have the box.

Go do this best buy deal, then use the UPC on the box of your current HD DVD drive for the 5 movies. Then go to walmart, return the new drive unopened for store credit for groceries, or get the Toshiba A2 that is now only $198 as an upgrade. :)

It's what I plan to do as well. I already have Heroes so I will probably return that too.

Hmmm... I might head to exchange out fearless for it.

Um, yeah you don't need a wireless add-on. I know it's amazing but there are still neanderthals (like myself) out there that use wires.
i keep forgetting how young some of you kids are here.. its ok.. i was a teenager too once, i understand :D
Keep telling yourself that without engaging my argument. Is that how you "grown-ups" settle things? Are you saying that everyone who is thinking about getting either an xbox or a PS3 has to weigh in the price of a wireless adapter?

Now that just does'nt seem honest. :whistle2:s
I had to do the return/rebuy on the box sets (ultimate matrix and Mission Impossible Collections).
explain to me what this "return and rebuy thing" is? how do you do that? like do you mean returning the Xbox 360 HD DVD Add on to best buy or what...?
Now that just does'nt seem honest. :whistle2:s
not to mention completely unethical and illegal!
explain to me what this "return and rebuy thing" is? how do you do that? like do you mean returning the Xbox 360 HD DVD Add on to best buy or what...?
I had to "return" all of my items (hd-dvd player, heroes, fearless, the departed) at customer service and they had to ring the player, heroes, fearless, and ultimate matrix collection. The only downside is if you paid by credit card, they'll refund it and then charge it again.

just got back from the grand opening of the san jose, ca store. the deal worked and i was able to get sopranos part 2 and planet earth. i was on the fence about getting the drive before, but this deal put me over the edge. thanks to all who posted about it.

Worked in Columbia MD. Just got drive heroes smallville s.6 and sopranos 6.2 for 190.xx. Then manager walked by as I was standing in line and did a double take on what was in my hand. Thought I was busted but got to the register and went smooth as silk. Thanks again OP. Now just to how to explain to wife after the CC fiasco last week!!!

Hmm, heroes is miraculously available for in-store pick up online, but when I went to the Best Buy store here in Greenville, SC just a bit ago there were none to be found and the stock clerk said there were none in the back. Are some stores withholding the Heroes disc to keep people from taking advantage of this? Any reason why I can't just do "in store pick up" the HD-DVD, then instantly return it to buy with the 360 drive (and friends)?

Sorry all, my previous post got taken out of context. I was poking fun at some BD fanatics, while pointing out the number of views/replies in comparison with the BD-Deals thread. For the record I only own an HD-DVD player. And just wanted to share my pride in owning the format that CAG's seem to be going nuts over right now.

If anyone gets doubles of heroes send a PM my way Im interested in picking up a copy.

Drive + Heroes + Blue planet + Matrix + 6 hddvds(even though I could care less about most of them = joygasm

Thank you so much for making this deal come true, you cheap buncha cheap asses. :D

Exact same thing I got, my local store didnt show Heores as being in stock so I drove a little ways to the next one to find them out of it, until they retrieved some from the back...

Already have the standalone player, so this is being resold along with Heroes (have already too)... but will enjoy my 5 freebies and 2 box sets from BB

still working in north wilm delaware.

Matrix + planet earth.

Also why is everyone only getting one of the sopranos sets.

This works with both parts of season 6.

That's what most people would call fraud. Thanks for helping make sure deals like this never happen again.

anyone have luck in any NYC stores? and if so which one

also anyone visit the LONG ISLAND CITY, NY bestbuy?

thanks

are box sets still working?

also what are the places that take returns with no reciept?, ive never done it before anyone want to tell me how it goes down? thanks
anyone have luck in any NYC stores? and if so which one

thanks
I got the player plus Heroes there Sunday and went back with the Retail Insider and after much discussion with a manager got 300 and The Departed for free yesterday. Couldn't try for boxes in that situation. They're showing they're out of Heroes now, though.

just came back from my BB store. the box sets are indeed working still. im pissed though because the same girl helped me out the day before helped me. and i wanted to get 2 of them instead of just 1. She was like "I'm sorry u bought one yesterday i can only let you buy 1 more" I was like you gotta be kidding me! its not like i was hoarding the supply (there were 5 drives still left in the cage). Anyway i got a kick ass cashier letting me purchase 2 HD-DVD drive on separate transactions ( i think she had no clue and really didnt care). So i ended up with:

2 X-Box 360 HD-DVD Drives
Smallville Season 5
The Departed
300
Evan Almighty
2 Heroes HD-DVD Season 1

price about 370 plus taxes

FOR OTHER CAG's: Be careful if you are trying to buy more than 1 hd-dvd drive! If you have family or friends that dont mind purchasing for you have them come along too! (otherwise you have to go to a store where their are BB cashiers that dont care!)

They could be holding them for people that have rain checks for it when they bought the hd dvd add on , but no heroes in stock.

Went to go pick up my hereoes from a rain check and the guy wanted me to pay, I was like..."uhhh....its suppose to be free since I bought the 360 add on" and then there was running around and he got someone to overide it.

I love this deal

Oh yea, my store had rock band set up with drums and guitar and they were setting up GH3. I would tried it out, but there was a crowd of people. Just letting you guys know, check you local big Best Buy (the ones that did halo 3 midnight launch)

Still working Erie, PA Best Buy.

Got:

360 HD DVD Player
Heroes
Sopranos S6-1
Sopranos S6-2

I will be ebaying the HD Player and both Sopranos. I already have the HD 360 Player but wanted the free Heroes and free 5 movies so don't hate too much :D

Thanks CAG!
