I'm not aware of ANY HD DVD movies in a resolution other than 1080p. All 6 launch titles were, and every release I've seen since has been. Every single one of my ~70 movies (about a third of all that have been released) is 1080p as well. Can you list some titles?
Only ones I can think of are Island Fever 3 and Camp Cuddly Pines Powertool Massacre which are only 720p

Well, the good news is almost all of the newer porn HD-DVDs are 1080p. Now I get to see those ass zits in TRUE HIGH DEF

Yes. If I can't see the pubic hair split ends, I'm not satisfied.
It's $23.96 at Warner's store after the 20% off coupon and if you buy 60 dollars worth of stuff, they upgrade you to UPS shipping.
Yeah, but there's not enough movies on that site that I want. Everything I wanted I already got, unless TMNT is up for pre-order, guess I'll stick with Frys.com

I know I still have to pick up The Fountain, The Departed and Blue Planet.

I know the tier list is subjective on AVS, but I'm disappointed the 3 recent Universal titles (Frighteners, Dragonheart, Lost in Translation) were rated average. Both Frighteners and Dragonheart earned High-Mid Tier 3. Lost in Translation actually was put in the lowest tier (Tier 5).

Also I got my Complete Matrix HD-DVD set delivered today. I've only checked out Reloaded so far, but it obviously stomps my SD version in terms of PQ.

The Tier thread over at AVS is completely fucked. There is no way Lost In Translation is a Tier 5.

I dig the one over at High-Def Digest more.

We put Lost In Translation at the bottom of Tier 2.

Pans Labirinth to be first HD DVD to feature THX certification
European HD DVD release of 'Pan's Labyrinth' will carry THX-certification, making it the first-ever next-gen title to receive the high-end seal of approval. The THX certified process, famously invented in the '80s by George Lucas and his team at Lucasfilm to ensure quality control in theatrical presentations, eventually found its way into the home video industry, including various movie releases on Laserdisc, VHS and DVD.
Damn it...the US mail lost my Frighteners HD DVD...It says it was delivered to me on Saturday but I was here when the mail came and I didn't get it. Emailing Buy.com now to see what can be done...
Update:
We apologize for the difficulty you have experienced with your order.

Tracking shows your shipment has been delivered to the shipping address you
originally provided on your order. Per the Buy.com policy, it is ultimately the
responsibility of the customer to make sure they provide a secure delivery
address where someone will be available to accept the order.

However, because of your good customer standing with Buy.com, we have decided to
make a one-time exception and have approved your request for a replacement order
to be sent. Please allow 7-9 business days for this new order to arrive to you
from the date it ships.

Please note that we cannot guarantee a similar concession should the same type
of issue arise on future orders. It is always best if you can have your orders
shipped to an address you will be at during normal delivery times of most
carriers. We thank you for your understanding and customer loyalty.

Sincerely,

I was there to receive the mail so I know it was safe, damn USPS lost it. Hopefully this one comes through ok.
I'll buy the second copy if you it happens to show up. ;)
I doubt it shows, but if it happens to show up, you'll be the first to know...well second after me.

I think you already have it and just tried to pull a fast one on ol' Buy.com. haha

Nah, I'm sure it won't show but you never know and it doesn't hurt to ask.
I've personally have been wondering about Shooter...it hasn't been announced as a combo, the cover art doesn't say its a combo but Amazon.com has it priced at 27.95

http://www.amazon.com/Shooter-HD-DV...8-0466352?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1181283562&sr=8-1
Maybe Paramount is doing a same prices for both formats thing. The Blu-Ray is also 27.95.

Dawn Of The Dead perplexes me though. It has been announced a single side, no combo on the cover and $26.99 coming from a HD-DVD exclusive company.

-----------

My screenshots of Mulholland Drive aren't doing so good.

I can't get FRAPS to work and I can only print screen the image which sucks because I don't have a 1080p screen.
I've personally have been wondering about Shooter...it hasn't been announced as a combo, the cover art doesn't say its a combo but Amazon.com has it priced at 27.95
Paramount has charged $39.99 for single disc standard releases in the past, such as Babel. As I stated earlier in the thread, combo or not studios are looking to charge $35-$40 for new releases.
I'm too lazy to look for the hd vs thread, if it exists, so maybe someone can repost this there or move it?

Someone just posted a lot of screen caps of the prestige on BD vs HD DVD. BD is AVC and HD DVD is VC-1. You mouse over each shot to see the HD DVD version.
http://www.mbmg.de/hd-discs/theprestige_bd-vs-hd/01.html

Keep in mind that this movie is considered one of the best looking BD's.
I don't get it...are they identical? The pages loaded but the image doesn't seem to change for me.

BTW: Vs thread is here: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=132555

i saw harsh times at fye couple days ago and picked it up (guess they got it early and didn't care about street date)

it was MSRP too which sucked, but the picture quality wasn't that impressive. Maybe high tier 3 on AVS list. Audio was the same. No special features really (Deleted scenes, commentary, trailer, thats it). I liked th emovie tho, but I don't think it deserved HD treatment.

I can't tell the difference between upscanned DVD and this release
anyone see harsh times or breach?
I saw Breach when it was in theaters.

I really enjoyed it as a "cat and mouse" type movie. Then again I'm really biased as I like a lot of those movies as well as spy movies/shows. Came in thinking that a movie of this calibur based on a "real" event wouldn't be interesting. Glad to see that I was proven wrong and the movie is solid stuff.

Chris Cooper is fantastic as usual. I was really suprised with Ryan Phillipe since I'm not a fan of any of his work (minus Way of the Gun). His performance was good throughout the whole movie and I definitely liked Cooper and Phillipe as the mains.

Lots of great/tense moments throughout the movie. It's also nice to see that this movie, which hinges on a lot of dialogue, is as deeply interesting as it is.

Just a heads up, One Six Right maybe getting discontinued on Amazon.

It's currently at 1 to 3 week wait and usually items disappear after that.

I just grabbed a copy with my new Amazon Prime account :)
TMNT pre-order is up. Just click the link and go "browse all titles"

http://www.warnervideo.com/warner_bros_hi_definition/us/html/titles.html

20% off code is WBWEL and they also have 300 and Purple Rain
Thanks for the heads up

I can't actually get it ordered though. Clicking on the "Buy Now" button just leads to a page that claims "There is no valid item in your request". Couldn't find it on the store either.

There's a distinct possibility I'm quite blind though and am missing it. I'll keep my eye open for it though.

That happened with Blood Diamond back in the day.

Just check back in a day or two and it should be working.

Tempted to get Purple Rain but I'm waiting for feedback on video quality, which I doubt will be that amazing. Obviously the sound will be awesome, but my sound system isn't taking advantage of those newer HD audio formats so it's fairly pointless.

I've seen Purple Rain on HDnet movies, and it looked really good for a 20+ year old movie, I can't imagine the HD DVD version looking worse, so it's a safe bet

How's Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back look? I know that it's supposed to be one of the worst looking Blu-ray movies, but I'm a huge fan of Kevin Smith, and really would love that movie in high-def. Is it an improvement over the DVD at all? Anyway, nice collection, we have very similar taste.

Looks Gizmo in the eye after seeing Weeds and says "Friends don't let friends buy lazy encode jobs with shitty picture due to too small disc space.".

Jay and Silent Bob is a big improvement over the DVD, but its not the greatest ever. Its fairly average but looked great on my TV.
