Homefront
seriously i think someone was payed off here

the game is like playing half life and these days most games only have a crappy excuse of a champain and mostly focus on multiplayer.

are people mad it doesnt play the exact same as cod or something? i love that the combat is a bit more realistic too. :)
Homefront is nothing close to Half-Life.

Yeah, servers were brutal today, I saw a trick that involved dashboard quitting and then going back into the game that worked for me like a charm.

I hope they sort it out quickly, one shouldnt have to jump through hoops to play the game. That is a huge knock on it.
Multiplayer is the majority of the game. I traded in my copy already and I still wouldn't say it is a rental through and through. The MP has some very interesting concepts that are implemented fairly well. If you can forgive some of the flaws, have a few friends that will join in with you and can commit to making this your top shooter for awhile I would wholeheartedly recommend the game.

My friends are all moving on to Crysis 2 and I couldn't see myself playing this enough to stay at the level of higher players so that's what drove my decision to trade it in. If Crysis 2 wasn't out this week I probably would have held onto Homefront for awhile.

That all said SP was a total turd for me. I didn't like it at all and the game lost my save halfway through.
Crysis 2 is much better than this game.

if the demo is anything like the full game, crysis 2 is definitely not better. different yes, but not better. im still gettin crysis 2 but homefront is great in its own right

Started playing Homefront last night, multi-player is good, single player is just ok.

Haven't hit any of the problems yet, at one point last night it told me the servers weren't available, but I just searched again and it worked fine the second time.

Finished my single player run on guerrilla. The last fourth of the game was annoying on that difficulty. Now to give the multiplayer some more time.

I don't really understand the hate this game is getting. Admittedly the servers sucked ass the first week, but its gotten much better.

The single players has a ludicrous story, and is so so at best, populated with uninteresting characters, and a craptastic climax. It probably would have come together a lot better if they could explain how north korea managed to unify both koreas. That would straight up never happen, and is a ridiculous plot hole, but no more silly than the silly story arcs in some top tier shooters, so I forgive it.

Multi however is awesome. Both sniper, and run and gun styles work well, lot of fun to be had for coordinated teams, I like the battle point system.

Overall the game has flaws but I think it can stand on its own and provides great foundation for a sequel.

Ugh, I take back what I said, the single-player is terrible and online is ok but it gets so repetitive.

I'm trading this back to Amazon.

The news paper clippings you find try to explain the events leading up to occupation but like you said, it's all pretty ludicrous. The Koreans in the game may as well be from outer space. I found the
redneck militias
more believable.

If I remember from the clippings right, Kim Jong-il dies, his son Kim Jong-un takes over and admits how messed up NK is and at some point negotiates a peaceful unification with the south. Jong-un then wins the first unified Korea election thanks to having raw numbers on his side. Not more far-fetched than anything else in the game.
bro you are fuckin broing me right now
hahahahahaha I read "champain" and had no clue what he was talking about then it hit me and I almost died laughing.
The story is actually very believable, technically it could all happen. ALL.
No, the story is extremely unbelievable.

However, it doesn't bother me. Very few of my games have believable stories. Just don't think this scenario is even feasible.

Name one thing in the story that is could not possibly happen?

....I thought so.

North Korea and South Korea becoming one...now, that's a joke
North Korea and South Korea becoming one...now, that's a joke
Both sides want to unify. The only Korean I've talked to about it claimed that most Koreans don't see themselves from South Korea, they're from Korea. The real barrier to unification is the military dictatorship in the north. If someone sane ever takes over the north, unification is very likely.

It's not so much the unification as it is their ability to occupy all of America.

Once again, it doesn't bother me the story is unbelievable.

I haven't played the game so I don't know the details of the story but I believe the only way this game's plot is possible would be a Korea/China alliance with intent to destroy America. Although China and the US depend on each other economically. If one dies, we both die.

But, as others have said, it's a game so it doesn't matter. It sounds like a more coherent story than any CoD prior to Black Ops.

So we are dissecting the plot now? Ooookkkk.

Anyway, I am level 45ish in the MP and still having a blast, I feel everything is pretty well balanced. There are many ways to play the game the way you want, focus on drones, focus on vehicles, run and gun.

I havent played a game since BF 2 that allowed you play the role you want as well as homefront.

I dont have much else to say...bring on the DLC. I hope for more urban maps, I want to fight in backyards a little more than giant countrysides.

Agree 100%. They try to explain why the US couldn't fight off an invasion in so many ways. Massive EMP explosion cripples electric grid, so the US armed forces aren't as effective. Europe's economy is in bad shape so they don't send any help (including NATO members? really?). Mississippi river gets irradiated which means the US can't transport anything between the two sides (no planes or ships?!) It goes on and on. Generally, in fiction, you get one free totally made up plot device. The more plot devices you add and/or try to explain, the harder it gets to believe.
So we are dissecting the plot now? Ooookkkk.
Well, the premise. Not really any meat to the plot to dissect.

I rented the game for free (Family Video gives you free rental and 50% off for 2 weeks if you don't use your account for awhile)

Singleplayer was alright but I didn't like it enough to actually go back and play through again for achievements.

Multiplayer seems fun but since I rented it I could only get to Lvl 5 so I got bored of it.

Deff not worth a buy unless you really like the MP. But i'll stick with Reach/KZ3/Blops/BC2 for my multiplayer fix

Kaos Studios has released an Xbox 360 Title Update for Homefront today, which should address all of the 'Profile Freeze' issues that have been plaguing the game since its launch more than two weeks ago.

And furthermore, there should be more updates coming in the near future too. "In the background, we’ve been hard at work on further improvements which should be following hot on the heels of this update," reads the news post on the official Homefront blog.

"We have a full-time team here at Kaos Studios dedicated to ongoing support on the technical side, as well as development of a wide range of exciting DLC that we’re not quite ready to talk about just yet, but hope to unveil to you in the very near future."

That "full-time team" at Kaos, lost 17 members of staff, as reported earlier today, but the studio thanks consumers for their continued patience and assures "that we will continue to support our multiplayer community for many months to come."

Got dropped 3 times last night before I gave up. Anyone else have issues lately?

I was playing like ass for the most part, so maybe the server just decided to mercy kill my connection.

My connection has been great since the update. But I wouldnt doubt that it dropped you sometimes the severs just hate everyone.

Just wondering the game is dropping in price slowly, so what would price point would people justify for the game? I know some people like and others don't have i've been on the fence since release now.

^This because a friend of mine is begging me to play this and I owe him for convincing him to buy Transformers before its community magically disappeared.

I guess the answer depends on your skill as a CAG, its a couple months after launch in which I would rarely pay more than 30 bucks tops for any game but would feel more comfortable around the 25 range.

That is not to say I dont enjoy this game....I love it and got it day 1 (for 35) so I think its worth at least 40 to the non deal finding general public.

Its tough because as CAGs I am trying to go for the lowest deal on the maker regardless of how good or how much I liked a game.

I just got this from Gamefly and started playing this last night. Was anybody else really disturbed during the opening on the bus ride when the childs parents are exeucuted right in front of him?

The problem with waiting on this game is that by the time it hits $20 or so the MP will likely be dead. I enjoyed homefront but the single player campaign is very short and not alot of reason to go back again unless you are an achievement hound. Maybe try renting it.

I actually just posted a review on my blog about Homefront. There's a couple of good moments in the game, but overall, it doesn't hold up.

The MP is a mess anyway. I haven't played in a single game where I had more than 2 bars of latency and almost every game i'm in has a single red bar. There is no matchmaking as I think it throws you in the first available game. They screwed the pooch on the MP.

The ping bars in Homefront are supposedly meaningless. I have the occasional lag, but it runs smooth most of the time for me (when I don't get randomly dropped).

Not me. Everything has a garbage frame rate and I get a lot of lag warping. Not to mention though on my screen I'm shooting someone first, i get killed, a lot. its pretty bad.

I haven't had much problem with lag after the patch either. I usually will have 3 bars (if that matters) The MP has it moments and we a little more polish could have been top notch.

So, uh, does anyone play this game anymore, or has it already died? ;)

Thinking of picking it up soon, but it seems like people played it for the first week and haven't played it since.
So, uh, does anyone play this game anymore, or has it already died? ;)
MP is still active and fun. Didn't have any trouble finding games last night (prime-time EST) fwiw.

My cuz gave me this to put is on craigslist for him so I tried it out and have to admit it's pretty fun. I ended up buying from him for $20 and buying the battle code for $10. Been playing it since yesterday and only had a couple of connection problems but only for a few minutes.

I still play this daily...no where close to dying and the fan base is huge. Even if people dont want to give them credit for it they knocked the MP out of the park.

Went to Gamestop the other day and ended up picking up Mortal Kombat instead of this.

When it comes to the longevity of the games, I regret my purchase.
