How do YOU decide which platform to pre-order/buy a game on???
And daroga, seriously name the time and place and we can bust out some co-op. ;)
Yes we will. I just finally got internet fixed at home after a week and a 1/2, so possibly after I finish up The Darkness. Not sure how many chapters there are, but I think I'm midway through #2.
I think I turned it off last just as I was heading down into the sewers after finding the darkness weapons

There are 5 chapters, but the game won't take you to long anyways. About 8-10 hours total.

*edit* posted something meant for the what are you playing thread ;)

Whoops

It'll be interesting to see how UT and Assassin's Creed turn out for both systems.

maybe not so much UT, since both the PS3 and 360 version might be ports of the PC version. Assassin's Creed will be the first official PS3 to 360 port though, right?

Not sure, when it was first shown for the PS3 wasn't it secretly running on a 360 or something like that?

What I really want to see is if they charge for the user mods in UT.

if they charge for user mods, that would qualify for "biggest load of shit pricing structure" of this gen. and there's a fuckton of competition in that category

not to mention the users who created those mods would be just a little angry. Epic is cool though, they like to give it all away for free when possible, so that won't be a problem.

Exclusivity.

If something is multi-platform, I'll get it on the 360.

Don't feed the fanboys.;)

Anyhow my suggestion would be to either not pre-order or to preorder based on which system you would rather play the game on, the graphics on most games are not going to be drastically different however the controller configuration can count for a lot.
Why??? Shows you favor 360, kind of like how I always buy the PS3 version, since PS3 is the overall better console.
whu? ahAHAHAHAHHAHahahah!

Sorry, that was just too funny. And now I understand the snide comments I've seen about the Mana Knight.

Anyway, I get the one which is best. Example: Tried out Tony Hawk Project 8 on the 360 interactive at MicroCenter and really liked the lighting, graphics and play. Went home to check reviews to see which version was better. THP8 couldn't hold a framerate on the ps3, so it's gonna be the 360.

Now, a game like Splinter Cell Double Agent, the 360 version of the game was pretty much a totally different version than the xbox version. And the xbox has a co-op mode, so the both are on the list.

Something like Y's Ark of Naphashaashahshwhatever, I picked up on the psp, because it was dirt cheap. When I find it cheap for the ps2, I'll get that and ditch the psp, because I want the voices which aren't on the psp version.

When all things are equal, on last gen (cube, ps2, xbox), I'd usally go for the xbox version (for the harddrive saves) or the cube because I love the wavebirds and if a bunch of us are going to play together, I'd rather not have a million cords all over the place.

Hell, if I had both, I'd probably get GTA4 on the PS3 as well.

I dont want to give any legitimacy to the idea of buying $50M worth of additional content.

I wouldnt buy the DLC anyway, so whats the motive to buy it on 360 now?

Achievements (I know that you're above those, though) and Xbox Live, which has the edge over PSN.

You shouldn't speak of such a What If, DMK. GTA is for knuckle-dragging, mouth-breathing retards, right?

If it's multiplatform I'll buy it for the 360 because I love achievements unless there is something drastically wrong with it.

In the last gen, the Xbox usually had an advantage in terms of graphics and online but this generation the 360 and PS3 are pretty much the same so which ever one I can get a deal on.

As for the Wii, I see no reason to yet consider a multiplatform game on the Wii.

*a cold shiver crawls down my spine*

Uhhhh...the 360 version pretty much always wins because:

1. Better controller.
2. Better online play
3. The superiority of the overall XBL experience (friends list, DLC, etc.)
4. Way more people playing on XBL than PSN.
5. Sometimes framerates and textures are actually better on the 360.

Bam.

IGN must have played R6 in 1080 when you have to to play it in 720 to see that it's identical if not slightly better in certain areas.

But I got R6 for the Wii anyway.

Bam.
Pretty much. #1 seals it though. I can't believe Sony didn't change up the positioning of the left analog stick and the d-pad on the sixaxis. When I was contemplating getting a PS3, the controller was actually the thing that completely turned me off of it. The thought of playing Ninja Gaiden on the Dual Shock design kinda makes my skin crawl.

Sony apologists need not tell me how that design is the best. It's not.

I really dislike the Dual Shock controller, so evanft - surprisingly - brings a nice point to the table.

You should have seen the d-pad I had on my first 360 controller.

I had one of the defective ones, where they didn't properly cut off a hunk of plastic during the manufacturing process.

You'd literally have to press left with, like, 200 lbs. of pressure in order for the action to register.

I've seen some, and tried one, but it didn't help.

I just wound up accidentally breaking the controller, anyway.
Come on guys, how can't you like Mana Knight? He hates beer AND sex!
