How many reps can you guys do in a set? How many sets can you do? With how much weight?

Pfft, Amateurs and their bench. It's like the only thing people focus on anymore. It makes me sad to see guys with big ol' rock solid titties, but tiny little quads and a flabby back.

And, since this is the internet, everyone can do 320 for 8 reps.

Guh.

I don't have anyone to spot me, so I gotta relegate myself to machines.

That said, I imagine my max is somewhere in the 125-150 range at the least. At the least. I might be discounting myself, dunno. I've been working out pretty heavily for the last 5-6 months and have gotten stronger, but like I said, I do sets on machines.

All I know is that if I managed 150 or more, that's essentially my body weight. Which I am told is pretty good.

Weightlifting is actually a pretty big hobby of mine. The last time I actually tested my 1 rep max, I was at 315. That was a few months ago, so I'm willing to bet it has gone up a little bit since then.

QFT

And don't forget those people that try to show off lifting huge weights, but show absolute piss poor form doing so. Probably does more harm to their backs then good for their arms.

Unfortunately I haven't had time to really get on a good workout schedule lately, but when I was going regularly I could bench 15 pounds over my bodyweight 10 times. Never bothered to try for a 1 rep max since that wasn't what I was lifting for.

I was more about doing more reps over 1 rep max.

I haven't lifted for 2 years now, but I used to do:

Bench 155 LBS. 10 reps ~ 1 rep max about 200 LBS.

Squats 245 LBS. 10 reps ~ 1 rep max 315 LBS.

Ive worked out religiously for the past two years. Started at like 205 1 rep max, and now my 1 rep max is 300lb. I went from 150 to 190 lbs

I started getting back into the workout thing also. A couple of months when I hitting the gym almost everyday, I could do 10 reps of 230lbs. Now that I'm going back I'm starting to work my way back to 230lbs. At the moment I'm at 220lbs. so I'm almost there and hope to surpass my previous limit.

i hate bench. my 1 rep max was 215 last time i did it. ended up gettin redshirted on my college football team because of it, which eventually led to me quitting all together. but hey, it was only D-III so its not like i lost any money from not playing, plus i had an all-state high school senior year so.....

I only curl. I usually curl 30 lbs. weights.

My right wrist and forearm are really fucked up from past injuries.

Most I've benched is 100 but then again I only weigh 118. Usually 85 and like 15 reps, 3 sets. Machine I use goes in increments of 15 so its either 85 or 100.

Once upon a time I could do a single rep of 220 free weight, but I could rep 250 on a machine 10-15 times no problem. Haven't worked out for some time now, so I doubt I could currently do more than a single rep of 200, if even that.

Yes, I just made those numbers up.

[quote name='Ugamer_X']Yeah, I can bench 100. Ask Rywateska or Zewone, they'll tell you.

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to post that.

Well, when I was in football training I could do 350 2 or three times. But that was years ago.

Now personally I train for lean muscle and endurance so now I do...

135 -10 warmup
225 - 10 Starting
275 - 8 Peak
225 - 10
185 - 12
185 - 12
135 - 15 Cool Down

That's how I start chest. Then when I do a full chest day I move on to Incline, Decline, Fly's, pullovers, dips.

Most I ever did was 225 in high school. I haven't even tried since then because in college the basketball coach didn't want me to gain too much bulk and mess up my jumpshot.

Eh, I haven't benched in a while, I need to...

Anyway I use to do a few sets of 175, but my 1 rep max a month ago was 215, don't know now though

I started doing like 110 max, but then one of my coaches showed me the pyramid about three years back and I've fine tuned it.
I'm at 255 max right now, trying to hit 300 in 6 months.

Back when I used to work out daily in college, my best was:

1 set - 180 lbs - 12 reps
1 set - 190 lbs - 10 reps
1 set - 200 lbs - 8 reps

I doubt I could do that much now tho....stupid lack of gyms in the Japanese countryside!

Wow, I had no idea CAG's were this strong. No offense intended of course .
So lets see, for bench I
135 x12
155 x10
175 x8
185 x6
195 x4
215 x2

And I havent tried maxing in a while, but last I knew(about a month or so it was 225)

Dead lift I've got a pretty solid 255 max, and squats I can do my body weight(275) 10 times.

Do you guys use any supplements? NO2, Nitro Tech, Creatine, etc?

Creatine is alright, if you are taking just pure creatine and make sure you load/reload correctly. Stay away from that other shit though.

What the hell is a bench pres?
Even more depressing is that the orginal post has been edited at least once, and it still says "bench pres".

I personally dont care for creatine, I've cycled on and off of it properly, I just didnt like the weight I gained. Granted it wasnt bad weight, but I wrestle so I want to keep my weight down.

I'm a big fan of Anadrox, which is NO2 and it has a fat burner in it as well. I've never gotten so much pump out of a supplement before. That and Nitro Tech works wonders for my weight lifting.

i did 230 once...like 1 set of 10..my usual (last time i benched was months ago) was usually like..160-70 i think, i can probably do more since ive been using the chest machine ; incline presses more

Okay, bench press topic is the best place to ask:

I've been stuck at 185 x6 for well over a month. How can I break past this plateau? Any tips? Thanks.

True story. You should really look into getting some Hydroxicut to fully tone out your upper pectorals. Personally, I try to injest upwards of 6,000 lean protien calories every 28 hours to keep at peak physical condition at a moments notice. Some say people like you and I are doing too much, I say they can't lift 100.

I would say cycle down and back up again or do a cycle of dips instead. It's been a long long time since I've been in the gym but I usually switched things up when I hit a plateau and seemed to do ok as a result.

You know, I was in the same situation with another muscle group, and I found the best way to do this was just to force the shit out of it.

I.e., on one machine I do, I could put it up to 100, but if I kept on my usual regimen, I never got past it. Like I'd do 6 reps and then I'd stop. This went on for weeks. Solution was to rest a minute and then put it to a higher level - in this case, about 115 - and do that at least 2-3 times, or struggle against it as best I could.

About a week later I was repping the 100 about 10 times. Not great, but it's definitely an improvement.

You'll feel like shit after you do it, but it works. It's that moment after the current max (in my case, the 100) where you're thinking "f*ck, I am done." But just wait a minute and force yourself on the higher weight.

'Course this could be really bad advice, I have no clue. Works for me though.
