Humble Bundle Thread

I bought it for a buck....I suck....

I'm gonna make a game with that whatever-thing-a-ma-jig, and then whore it out to every bundle seller, especially the Lower Slovatkian Czar Bundle Weekly Sale, and then I'm gonna come here and rub your nose in it cuz I'll be a big time developer, you'll see....MARK MY WORDS, YOU'LL SEE!!!!!

Well I bet those people feel silly now that it's $1!
In the same way that people buy games for $50 only to have them go on sale for $1 in a bundle, yes.

My last post on this subject since folks just seem to want to contradict, not discuss.

I'm actually just asking a question earnestly. I was hoping someone could sum it up for me.

Is the yelling-brother avatar throwing you off?

I'm sort of tempted just to try to make some indie Gothic 1/2 type game but... I have no art skills at all.
Dude, go for it, whenever you think you suck and you just want to give yourself a rope necktie and give up, fire up Bad Rats and know that nothing you create will be as bad as that. <Cue "Wind beneath my Wings">

Do you guys realize the #1 most selling video game franchise of all time just blatantly ripped off a Newgrounds flash game? (Angry Birds ---> Crush The Castle)

I feel like theres so many people I could exploit out there if I just had the right tools

And Crush the Castle was basically a slightly better remake of someone else's game, Castle Clout. Though I do believe the got permission from the original creator for it. Who knows where he stole the idea from.

And this is why I hate Angry Birds. Also, Crush the Castle is far superior to Angry Birds.

Wasn't aware of that, but at least they got permission.

I'm likely going to drop $1 on this just to get MF2.

Another oddball weekly. I had to get it for Manos. I can't see too many people BTAing this one as the second tier consists exclusively of HIB repeats(!).

CAG The Videogame: Quest for the Hoard coming soon. Kickstarter launching Q1 2014.  Powered by MMF2.

Bitches in Boxes - The Ultimate Room Escape Game coming to Android and iOS in Q2 2014.  Powered by MMF2.

You better not be f*ckin' with me. I'll pay $0.75 for each one in separate Groupees bundles.

Trailer for Oddplanet looks to have a little bit of a Botanicula feel to it. Might have to get this meow

I'm buying each key for $30 from the Trading forum.

It's not that bad if we're promised Steam keys for the games that get/got greenlit. I'll buy it for a dollar if it gets confirmed.

I must be the only one that prefers this to the Popcap bundle.
I prefer the Popcap bundle, but I do think this one has some decent looking small games in the $1 tier.

Multimedia Fusion 2 seems to be even more novice a design program that Gamemaker Studio. If design is what you want to do, and it does indeed come with free, no-license background material as is depicted in the trailer, then $1 is a good price for it. Believe me, creating and uploading animations for everything is the hardest part of game design.

Why do you always compare apple pie to orange marmalade hoping it will prove your point? Just too lazy to come up with real arguments?

Don't forget you need a charity for when you are in an Humble Bundle.
Might I suggest Sunasun's Home for Inebriated Tramps

Also, you apparently need a $150 export module to actually export the game out of MF2, or so I hear. Nice racket, scheme, uh, product line they have.

This is what design stuff costs and isn't specific to Multimedia Fusion 2. You need to buy export tools for GameMaker Studio as well if you want to put out your game on Android/iOS/WP8 ($200 each), HTML5 ($100), etc. Photoshop, TurboCAD, etc. can cost hundreds or thousands of dollars. Tools for professionals to make money are priced highly. I know people who have to spend $5,000 or more every couple of years just to do their jobs so I guess this relatively inexpensive software doesn't seem that bad to me.

If you get a game polished to a point where you need to pay $150 to export and publish it for people to consume you've likely spent way more than $150 if it's something anyone wants to play.

Your logical justifications are assholedly getting in the way of my irrational complaints

Yeah, I'm familar with the pricing structures, but there are probably more than a few people out there going "Zippity Doo Daa, I'm gonna create mesah game for a dollur, hur hur." The real cost is just a tad more than that...not to mention if you are going to develop for iOS, I'm assuming you need an iOS Dev License too (another $99/year). I don't think it's entirely clear while you can create a game with it, you can't deploy it(or mostly? can't tell if there is a platform that doesn't require an export module) without ponying up some more cash.

Not that the maxim holds true in this case, but many times "You get what you pay for". Or sometimes the "$1 software" is a gateway drug to the software that is really needed to create full blown whatever.

Multimedia Fusion 2 already has a updated version call Clickteam Fusion 2.5 on steam so I don't think we will be getting steam key for that one. I am still in for a dollar if they will provide keys for the other 2 greenlit games.

What the hell.. what's the point of having a Multimedia Fusion bundle then.

BTW they have an "upgrade plan" if you have the original MMF2. Maybe that was their plan all along.

In looking up games that were made on it, I was reading through Konjak's page, maker of Noitu, and he said he made all his games until now on MMF2, but since changed to Construct 2, which is FREE. And to make his pixel art he uses Graphics Gale which costs less than $20.

I'm seeing this as another lesson to me of make-do-with what you have rather than focus on the cost of buying the best. Want to work out? Don't get an Atlas machine, just do body weight exercises and throw around some cinder blocks. Want to record an album? Don't get a workstation computer and Logic, download whatever's free and work it out. I've convinced myself many times I needed to spend a lot on getting high end bike parts, fancy kitchen pans, power tools, etc., but now try to show a need for something before going out to spend a bundle. So if I try to make games, I'll start the cheapest to dip toes in and spend money if I get serious.

Click Team's Facebook painted the picture that this Humble is happening only because they released the new program and MMF2 is irrelevant. They won't sell it anymore after this bundle ends.

I have mentioned in the past that several of Humble's recent offerings are nothing more than base games "sold" just so the publishers and devs make a killing from the DLC.

Just look at Humble Paradox Bundle. How much damn DLC does Crusader Kings II have on its own? And the Pinball FX one, which did give a good amount of content but still left out a lot.

A quote from the Dev of Pitiri 1977 over on that game's greenlight page.

Hey everyone! Of course all of you humble supporters will get a steam key when the game will be available on steam! No problem at all! Have a great evening everyone (well... I guess depending on where you live... just to be sure: good evening, good morning, good night aaaaan my fav. good afternoon ^^)

Yeah the pinball one probably made a killing from its dlc.

I would have never bought a single table for pinball, but I figured 6 bux for all that was pretty good. Threw down, and I've played around 15 hours of pinball since. Now I plan on buying ALL the rest of the tables, just want a decent sale.
