I've been seeing these pain in the ass Eneloop ads (thanks AdSense!) on CAG forever now. However, looking into them I am kinda interested in them.
Does anyone have them? Know anything about these eneloop batteries?
I use 'em for everything video game wise. I've bought a bunch primarily for Wiimotes, but they are working very well with my 360 pad.
First off, you can use them with any regular charger (I think NiMH). Second, they hold a charge longer than other types of rechargables. I don't know how they do this, I just know that they do. Third, they are white with blue accents, so they match the Wii perfectly (though this isn't that big of a selling point). Fourth, they charge quick enough, but it's best to charge them up if you know you'll need plenty for an upcoming section. And finally, they last fairly long.
There are only two real problems. The first is that they have a lower mAH rating than some other AA batteries, which means they'll work for a shorter period of time. The obvious offset to this is that with other brands, they'll lose the charge over time sitting dormant. Point being that if you knew you were going to have four player (something), it's best to charge them up the day before. They will hold the charge for a long time and don't disperse energy that quickly, so they are really great for that.
The second problem is that they are kind of expensive. However, if you watch Circuit City, they go on sale repeatedly, probably every 2-3 weeks or so. If you can snag an 8 pack for less than 20, you're in really good shape.
I use them in wiimotes, wireless sensor bars, 360 controllers, TV remotes, and pretty much anything else. Really great.
