So I got to Edenhall after the second Proudclad fight (which was a bitch) in FFXIII. I decided to go back and so some of the Cieth Stone missions. I've done about 16 and gotten a few waystones and the ability ride a Chocobo. I'm having a hard time deciding if I should keep at it for a few more missions or go back and beat the game.

Dude you don't just backtrack after going to Eden. Finish the game.

Plus, you'll unlock the final tier of the crystarium which is necessary to beat most of the Cieth hunts.

Well I just beat the Ochu plant thing using the "Spam Death with Vanille" method and got an item that doubles CP gain, so I don't think I'll have a problem filling out all of the character's tiers.

Hey, I'm just going by what all the guides are telling me. Plus, I don't really want to play the game after I beat it. I gots to move on to other stuff.

I like the "Spam Sazh Blitz" method.

You don't get the final tier until beating the game, though. Just sayin.

I'm sorry, but has that guide played all the Final Fantasys or has Panzer?

I'll probably revisit them once I get more free time, but I kinda want to move on to XIII-2 since I originally blew through that game.

What? After playing this long in the first Dragon Age we already had the king betrayed and dead, and the threat of the blight.

In this game, I'm....running errands, doing mercenary work, and looking for missing people.
The jokes there were that 1: there is only one city in the game (which isn't inherently bad), and 2: there never really is any plot (which is kinda pretty bad). The things you're complaining about don't ever really change. The only time a real, legitimate threat actually rises, he ends up being way more reasonable than everyone else in the game and it's a damn shame you can't team up with him.

Also, Project Eternity: still lookin' fine.

Playing Witched 2 on 360 and Atelier Rerorona on PS3 and not having much fun with either. Witches is kicking my ass and Atelier is weird/boring. Not a very good month for me as far as gaming goes.

I'm trying to get into Witcher 2 as well. In the beginning of chapter 2 and its not holding my interest much, especially since tonight I had a save in an impossible spot so I have to backtrack 2 hours. Really tempted to just trade it in and move on to other games in the backlog.

A better way to put #2 is that there are basically three different stories (one for each act) and they haphazardly and vaguely intertwine, but yeah, that about sums up DA2.

Saying that, I did enjoy the DLC for the game, even if one of them had Felicia Day ruining everything.

cue that simpsons rainier wolfcastle "that's the joke." pic.

i kinda gave up on dragon age moved on to lego pirates, but that's kinda boring me as well.

I thought you came back.

Feels like you're still so far away.
I want to be back, but this CAG 3.0 is irritating. What the fuck is this "notifications" bullshit? Where's my nice, clean, subscribed threads list?

Day is as good as her material. She was good in Fallout: New Vegas because Veronica was a decent character and New Vegas was a great game. She was annoying as fuck in DA2 because she had a godawful character in a bad game.

I've tried so damn hard to like The Witcher 2, but I can't. Like, I know there's something there, but I try it, and I think to myself, "The only way I could actually enjoy this is if I play the first game."

But I tried the first game, and I fucking hated it. So... no Witcher for me, I guess.

It's under My Content or Followed Content, if you prefer. I prefer My Content.

Also, turn off notification for pretty much everything, cuz those can get annoying.

If you would get on Steam you could ask me these questions that I've already figured out the answers to.

Like if Shadowrun Returns is good or not.

The answer is "I guess."

I dunno what it is about Tales of Graces F, but I really like the characters and VA.  It might be boring or blase to other Tales or hardcore JRPG fans, but there's something about Asbel's ultra-noble, "ganbatte" attitude that I find very endearing.  I dunno why, I just like all these characters no matter how trope-y or unoriginal they are.  :p

Anyway, I think I like Graces F better than Vesperia, which was the last Tales game I really enjoyed before this one....

Pascal is amazing.

She's a walking deus ex machina with scene hair who is totally in lesbians with Sophie.

Asbel's cool. I like him more than Luke at least. And definitely Lloyd, who I feel like I didn't like at all but I can't really remember if that's true. I still haven't played Vesperia, so I have no opinion on Yuri.

None of them hold a candle to Stahn though. Everybody in that game is actually pretty great.

Agreed on Graces F.  It's a giant cliche but it keeps moving along at a decent clip and I too am enjoying the characters, particularly Sophie and Pascal.

About 30 hours in, so far I'd rank:

Abyss > Symphonia > Graces > Legendia > Vesperia > Eternia > Symphonia 2  (Symphonia may be nostalgia goggles, and Eternia is low mainly because I played on PSP and got to a game breaking glitch so need to give it another shot and know how to avoid the glitch).

If you're talking about the Volt glitch in Eternia on PSP, you can't bypass it. The only way to avoid it is to buy a physical copy of the game that is beyond a certain version. Anything before that version will always freeze at the Volt fight. You'd have to do research to know specifically which version number you want.

And Graces is ok, but they focus too much on the whole "friends" thing that makes it less tolerable for a lot of people. I found Xillia a lot better than that (Once you get past/used to Milla's lisp) and I'm very slowly working through a second playthrough on that.

Every time I read talk about Tales, it makes me sad that we never got Destiny remake, Destiny 2 (Not Eternia), Rebirth or Hearts. Then I'm reminded that Symphonia 2 did make it over. So damn cringe worthy.

Yeah, I understand that Graces F can seem heavy-handed to some, but I actually like that.  I guess I'm in an accepting mood of positive messages and "want to believe" in the messages in that one.

Agreed with ZMonkay too that I think the pacing of Graces is pretty good.  I think that really does help keep things going, and of course, the solid battle system.  It hasn't dragged yet for me so far.  I just got to Yu Liberte and am investigating the strange goings on in the Strahta captial.  I keep forgetting to check the game time log, but I think I'm about half way through the game more or less?

Yeah ES was pretty srs.  I didn't know Chopin was so emo.  >_<

I got pretty tired of that game really quickly probably for that very reason lol.

I loved Eternal Sonata. Probably my third favorite JRPG this gen behind Lost Odyssey and Final Fantasy XIII. Chopin never was the most enthusiastic or joyful fellow out there. Most musicians during that era lived terrible lives, most in disease and poverty. The music was enough to carry the game's other faults for me.

Getting really bored of SMT4. I think I'm overleveled trying to do the side quests, which takes me forever and a ton of mobs to find. I got to a point where I'd just recruit monsters of the area, so I can talk to the aggros and have them go away cause I have their friend.

In FFXIV - 20 Marauder, 14 Gladiator, 13 Fisher. Pretty productive betaphase so far, and another whole day to go!
Hit 20 conjurer, arcanist, and fisher. Also got like 17 cooking, 16 carpentry, and 12 archer. Carpentry really sucks, cause almost nothing stacks.

Nice, I was lucky enough to not encounter the login errors on Sunday. Ended up with quite a bit of dungeon gear, which will probably be obsolete in 2 levels:

Had more fun fishing than anything else, lol.

Well shit...

And hey, at least we got a fan translation of Tempest... sigh

Can't be as heavy-handed as Eternal Sonata(especially the credits)
Man fuck those credits. I really really really liked ES, but those credits/ending "scene" just would. not. end.

Guys, seeing how the 3DS is the platform for some great RPGesque games that aren't Persona, I need you to convince me that they aren't good and that I don't actually need a 3DS.

I need this done almost immediately.

It's late that's usually when I'm stupid with my money.

Here's an example. I bought RE6 two nights ago.

Help.

What RPGs are you thinking of?  The only one I have besides SMTIV is Tales of the Abyss which I'm starting to think I don't like since I don't play it.

I didn't really buy a 3DS for RPGs per se, although Pokemon X/Y is coming out in a couple of months.

I'll probably get FE:Awakening before the end of the month for dat eShop credit, but none of the other RPGs out now really sell the system on me TBH.

Zelda LBTW is on the horizon, too, but since Nintendo games take forever to go on sale or drop in price, you could probably wait.

Well, mainly the Atlus games. IV, Soul Hackers, and the Devil Survivor games. There's that new Mario & Luigi game too and I still kind of want Project X Zone.

And then there's Zero Escape, Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem.

AND then there's all those DS games I missed out on.

I'm playing through Dream Team right now, not quite as good as Bowser's Inside Story, but very fun so far. Only about 8 hours in haven't had a ton of time to play lately.

Sorry Indignate, you're screwed.  The 3DS is a fantastic system.  Not only the classic Nintendo franchises, but for RPG's you've got Kingdom Hearts, Etrian Odyssey, SMTIV, Soul Hackers, Devil Survivor, Mario and Luigi, Paper Mario (more of an "adventure" game than RPG now, but still has turn based battles and I still loved it), Fire Emblem, Project X Zone, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Tales of the Abyss, Crimson Shroud, Denpa Men 1 and 2...

I've got all but Devil Survivor and Soul Hackers and have enjoyed all of them...

And that's not counting Pokemon in a month nor the many excellent DS RPGs you may have missed out on.

Enjoy your 3DS :p  I suggest the XL.

I'm not too familiar with the series or 3DS games so you guys think it's worth selling Fire Emblem: Awakening? I got it, it's okay, but I haven't touched it in months and know I won't be getting a chance to anytime soon with all the new games coming out and my work. I just don't know if it's going to be like other Nintendo games and holdits value well or possibly even rise in value long after its release. I do want to play it again but it won't be for a very long time so if I can get away with selling it now and rebuying it cheaper down the road I want to but it might not be wise if it just goes up in price.

Finally got back into Tales of Milla Xillia yesterday.

Milla is such a cool character. She might be my favorite character in a JRPG ever.

We'll see if I continue though. Kinda scared because I feel like I'm gonna get hooked into FF XIV. Especially if I do something silly like attempt to max out gathering classes first...

I only got Animal Crossing on my 3DS XL. I would love to get Fire Emblem and SMT IV but they are 2 expensive right now. The DS has some of the best JRPGs on the system. I'm thinking of getting Soul Hackers. Does anyone have any opinions on this game?

I used my $5 off coupon from Amazon student and some credit I had to pick up Fire Emblem Awakening.

I really wanted to see if the game would drop in price before the end of the month, but the coupon expires today.  :p

I need to claim my $30 eShop credit too, anyways, and Amazon shipping is slow for me.

Honestly, you can just skip Black 2 and SoulSilver, though I'd say SoulSilver and HeartGold are the two best entries in the series.

I'll get around to both eventually. I have no problem on waiting to play X or Y, especially since right now, I can't decide between the two (usually, I know which cover legendary appeals more to me, but they both look great this time...).
