After following a strategy that used Lightning/Fang/Vanille for the Cid Rains boss fight that only ended up with me getting pissed and contemplating retiring from video games altogether, I decided to make a change. So I dropped Fang and put in Snow and I beat him in one stagger. Funny how that works out.

The Ark and the Cid fight was a really great segment. In your case, I guess Snow would allow for RAV/RAV/RAV which is a pretty nasty way to build stagger.

You're a chapter or so away from what I think is the hardest plot boss in the series.

I also got really lucky a few times. I shit my pants after every Seraphim Ray in fear that he would target Lightning with his kick attacks. Thankfully he only did that once right before my aegisol wore off.

Just beat Etrian Odyssey IV... yeeeah, this game was too easy compared with the rest of the series. On the plus side, though, maybe I'll finally be able to complete the postgame dungeons this time!

I think I'll be skipping Millennium Girl, at least for the time being. Two EOs in one year is nuts and I need a break, plus I'm a little iffy about the whole concept behind the game.

I got notification that my Tales of Xilia Collector's Edition just shipped.

Man, I forgot why I wanted the collector's edition...

Since you guys seem to talk so much about Final Fantasy, I came across this:

http://www.edge-online.com/features/the-making-of-final-fantasy-vi/

Beat SMT IV on the Neutral route (Around 50 hours). Definitely the most grueling route because of how much more it requires you to do from what I've read. Also the hardest route to get without following a guide that I ended up stumbling into. The only thing I didn't spend time trying to beat was a level 90 boss from a side quest because I wanted to finish prior to today. The level 99 Final Boss(es) don't even compare really. Granted there were a few other bosses that gave me some trouble until I started mass fusing. Game definitely has it challenges, but the DLC seems to make it easier if one wants too.

Millia Figurine? It's a collectors item? TO COLLECT ALL THE ITEMS ONLY TO NEVER USE THEM?

That's what I'm thinking, but then... I don't really collect figurines anyway, so why would I have wanted this one...?

I actually dislike collecting things. I'm into this one Japanese idol group and it seems that every time I buy something related it comes with photos of different members, which I don't really care about so I just throw them on top of my bookshelf and forget about them.

The other week it was really windy in my room so now I have random photos scattered all over my floor.

I really hate these photos.

Went ahead and put Dragon Age 2 on casual. Just makes it less frustrating when trying to play with a 20 month old shoving books in your face, or climbing atop you.

Casual is a little too easy though, you don't need to heal, use tactics or even your special abilities.

When i was playing on normal for a little while I at least needed to heal and maybe use an injury kit after a couple big battles.

On Hard you have to memorize all the ability icons, use flanking tactics, be fully stocked up on potions and injury kits after every battle.

Most people in this thread probably aren't. Probably just a few people are right now, such as myself.
Yeah, this isn't exactly the fastest-moving thread on CAG :)

I did start Ys: The Oath in Felghana yesterday. Not much to say about it so far save that it's your standard Ys game (which is not a bad thing in the least).

Is it your standard Ys game? Heh.

I got to a good point in Ys 1 before I got bored. That bat boss takes a looooong time.

I am eagerly awaiting my Xilia copy. I might actually beat another RPG this generation.

Milla

Pretty much: somewhat grindy, tough bosses, the flying enemies suck, the music's great, and Adol's a chick magnet.
I was gonna say, it's not a top down game with a "run-into-your-enemies-and-kill-them" batle system.

My Tales of Milla Xillia has not arrived yet. =(

Everyone must be too busy playing Tales of Xillia to post!
I have been too busy playing Earthbound..but I did get Tales of Xillia and will be starting that soon. This will be my first real Tales experience. I have started both Symphonia and Vesperia, but never stuck with them past the beginning for whatever reason. I plan to go back to them both eventually, but in the meantime, I decided to pick up Xillia and see it all the way through

2013 has been a JRPG revival for me. I took a shot on Ni No Kini, which was probably the first JRPG in 5+ years I picked up Day 1. It was one of the best gaming experiences I had in many a year. I can't wait to go back to it in a year or so and do a replay. Then with the release of Earthbound on the WiiU VC, I decided to bust out the old SNES and replay it myself. The game is still amazing to this day.

Another Kickstarter of interest to this thread is starting soon: Project Phoenix. This will be a JRPG/RTS hybrid for PC and mobile. Staff includes Hiroaki Yura, Kiyoshi Arai (FFXII, FFXIV), and, making his indie games debut, some composer named Nobuo Uematsu.

The press release is here. Here's one of the most exciting bits (to me, anyway): Several of the members are yet to be announced, including a secret designer from a leading anime mecha title that changed the course of Japanese pop culture's influence in the world. Hope it's Evangelion's Ikuto Yamashita, or even better, Yoshiyuki Sadamoto :D

That might be the first kickstarter to ever catch my interest.

Beta starts back up next week:

You had me at Uematsu.

Just got Vanille's eidolon and moving on up. I doubt I'll ever use her eidolon (though it looks sweet). I usually stick with Fang/Snow/Light as my main summon.

Maybe it's Anno Hideaki.

In before terrible ending to indie RPG.

Or maybe it's Tomino Yoshiyuki.

I agree on that,I just like Ruff as Etna really.

Tara Strong on the hand is one of the few VA's who can actually change their voice up unlike most.

I don't know.

Laura Bailey has just about much range as Michelle Ruff.

That amount of range being 1.

They have 1 range.
Kinda weird I've never seen someone start from the bottom number as their top number. Whatever I agree Laura is a 1 and Tara is a 10

There is no difficulty setting on which the game is not balls. As I recall, the hardest difficulty was a fucking nightmare on release due to melee characters all killing each-other with friendly fire.

How awesome is laura bailey's voice? Bet you didn't even know it was her until I just told you.

Good god, Cheria's kid voice makes me want to punch her in the face.

Cassandra Lee Morris' voice, however, makes me want to give her a hug even though she sounds like she's on prozac.

I don't know who any of these characters are I'm going to assume laura is neither of them

Laura does Cheria's voice in Graces F.

Cassandra does Sophie in Graces F.

I am currently playing Tales of Graces F.

:p

Milla has a slight lisp. I dunno how I feel about that, lol.
Yeah, the actress for Milla is pretty rough. I read that the Japanese devs were actively involved in the dub casting, and they picked a Japanese-American actress with a deep voice because that was their specific vision for the character. Still, hearing the result, I can't help but wish they had just punted and gone with one of the "usual suspects" (Laura Bailey, Michelle Ruff, Kari Wahlgren, Ali Hillis, etc.).

Stop being so intolerant.

Always happy with some Laura Bailey voice acting. If she voiced everyone it would be ok with me.
