So, one day I noticed that my club enacted some new rules. The club officers claimed it was to curtail noise since neighbors were complaining. Basically, anyone with a rifle that used a magazine that fired more than ten shots would be forced to shoot at the "upper range" and you could only have two people shooting at once, you could only shoot a few rounds per minute and you'd have to wait a certain amount of time in-between rounds of shooting.
Now, most people who own guns own modern date, magazine fed rifles, be they AK-47s, ARs, etc. Yet, anyone who shoots a gun such as that is forced to share four slots. Now, for anyone that has never been to a range, it's not uncommon for one shooting to take up two slots (one to lay his guns and another for bench shooting). So, it's completely ridiculous to alienate a such a popular form of shooting to just four benches when the entire club has around 20.
So anyway, this pissed off a lot of people, and we wen't the next meeting to complain that it wasn't right. They tried to claim that it was a noise issue and that neighbors were complaining (which was absolute bullshit), then they tried to say it was a safety issue and that somebody said rounds were leaving the range (again, bullshit). It turns out that one night, while the officers were having their little poker game/social club, a couple of guys were mag-dumping (meaning, firing really fast) and the loud noises were annoying the old timers playing poker.
On top of that, the officers clearly stated that guns such as those where only made for killing people, which is true, that is why they were created, but couldn't you say that about any gun?
Anyway, they agreed to hold a committee on the issue after much begging on our part. We just wanted to compromise. We were willing to abide by the firing restrictions if, in return, they let us use the entire range. A reasonable compromise.
Well, I went to the first meeting, but base on how much they dismissed our grievances, I decided it just wasn't worth my time and I began the search for a new club.
At this point, all I know is what has been told to me by people that attended. I guess at the committee, they had everyone sign a sign-in sheet so they could "have a record of who attended." I was told that it seemed like a successful meeting and that the old dinosaurs were willing to work with them to find a soultion that would make everyone happy.
Fast forward to the next meeting where the final vote would take place. It was a massacre. The officers got in touch with every fudd, black power dolt and hunting retard and told them that "kids with machine guns were trying to take over the club." That night, they read off the sign-in list and voted out any member who had a problem with the new rules. Not only that, but relatives of those who were also members who had nothing to do with the fight.
So, that night, 19 people got the boot. They wouldn't say why, they just did it. Some were police officers, some were war vets who just returned home, they were all given the boot without any reason why.
Now, how they got my name, I'm not sure. It looks like they may be kicking out anyone who joined in the last year and giving them refunds.
So yeah, I guess that's it. I thought I was a member of a shooting club, but it turned out to be a social club held at a library without books.
See? Not that exciting. I did all that work for a bland story.
