Apple iPhone & iPod Touch games in the App store are constantly going on sale. While I originally posted games and prices in this post, it's become almost impossible to keep up with it all. Feel free to post in this topic on good deals and games you enjoy. Developers are also encouraged to join in, especially if they are running promos or sales.

If you want to check out a particular game, try the following review sites, or ask in here so fellow CAG's can assist you.

App Review & Price Drop Sites

Important Notes:

 1. Make sure to check for periodic updates either in iTunes or on your iPod\iPhone. For each release of new firmware, theres is usually a bunch of games updated right afterward.
 2. Some applications also go on sale by their authors when they reach 1 million download and similar milestones.
 3. Apps often have specials the day before, during, and after holidays, regardless if said game/app is related to the holiday.
 4. Newly released apps will often have a % or dollar amount off for a limited period of time to gain a large following quicker. While browsing the app store you can go to a particular type or genre and order according to release date. This can make finding new app discounts faster.
 5. Make sure to backup your purchases in iTunes to CD/DVD for safe keeping. You can do this by clicking File-->Library-->Backup to Disc. Then choose all purchases, applications only, and full or incremental backup. How often is up to you, but I do this monthly, or more often if I buy alot of apps.
 6. Apps can be redownloaded without incurring an extra charge if you previously purchased it. This is good if you have a crash and forget to backup your purchases. I don't know if this is a pernament feature so backing up regularly is still important.
 7. I strongly advise not to buy iTunes Gift Cards by 3rd parties unless you know they can be trusted. Retail stores, receiving cards as gifts, etc are the best ways. There are many credit card scams, stolen cards, hacked cards going around, especially on Ebay.
 8. If you are the victim of a iTunes Card scam or get your account locked due to one not all hope is lost. Apple has been fairly lenient on these issues. Call Apple directly at 1-800-MY-APPLE, or check the iTunes Store support site at http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store. Also going to your local Apple Store to discuss it can help. The account locking is an automated process and can be reversed. This can take time so be cautious if you use gift cards from 3rd party sources.

Does anyone know if Puzzle Quest for the IPhone was ever patched to where it's near the quality of the DS/PSP versions? My manager at work only has an IPhone and he's loved Peggle, so I want him to try PQ but only if they fixed the IPhone version (I heard it had a lot of bugs when it first came out.)

 • Survival Battle (Single and Multiplayer) — Try to stay alive for as long as you can. You will be rewared a new weapon – Golden Desert Eagle – if you can stay alive for 10 minutes or more.
 • Horde Battle (Single and Multiplayer) — Slaughter wave after wave of zombies. You will be rewared a P90, M4 Super 90 and Golden AK-47 if you can clear wave 8, 16 and 24 respectively.
 • Powerful New Weapons — Altogether 5 new weapons, 4 can be unlocked in the Survival and Horde Battle; 1 can be bought in weapon shop.
 • Bonus Indicator — Bonus indicator has been added for scenes with challenge completed.
 • Dual-Stick Transparency Setting — Player can choose from 3 levels of transparency – None, Half and Full.
 • New ranking for Survival and Horde Battle
 • Profile name length increased to 8 characters
 • Reduced the detection area of Briefing Button
 • Bug fixes
Also, I have basically everything unlocked except the $400,000 gun, and my percent complete is ~70%. What else am I missing? Before the update, I had everything collected, and still ~70%. Maybe I need to max everyone's level? I'm at level 32 now...
Damn! i want that golden AK! Looks like i will have to try for wave 24....i ran out of ammo and only had my pistol at wave 21 though...

I got Dexter and it is pretty good so far
Awesome :) I'll be sure to post when we actually have an app started. So far only the idea of the app got approved so in a few weeks we'll probably start working on it. It may be developed in house ( partially by me >_< ) or we may hire an already notable app dev.
DId you see that Flash CS5 is going to have settings to export for iPhone app development? Could speed things up as far as some pieces of the dev cycle are concerned. My lead prog was quite excited...

Completely off-topic, and not necessarily game/app related, but I was able to pick up a Sony iPod/iPhone clock radio on clearance for $50 at Target today. It was this model...not bad for $50

I actually used the CS5 news as leverage to my higher ups that making an app would be a smart move. We'll prob start with something simle right now on flash, then move onto other forms... i'm contemplating contacting seppo ;)

I wouldn't say it's at the level of polish as the DS version, but it is very solid on the iPhone. Sometimes you'll get some poorly formatted text, and there are a few bugs, but none of them are game crippling. It's absolutely worth having someone play it as a first experience, it's just not quite as great as the DS version.
Dammit I got to level 22 on Horde (Alive 4-Ever) and I had plenty of ammo left and those bastards rushed me and I died ......
I got rushed on 15. I used the Golden Desert Eagle for the first 12, so I had plenty of ammo and health all over the board. I hate those brain zombies.

Hmm. I got up to level 27, got bored and let myself be killed. Good times... good times...

Anyways, I use Carter and maxed out his crits. I gave his crits +6, crits +3, and clips +3 with the m16. He gets headshots pretty often. Use the golden desert eagle for the slow zombies and fat zombies if you're concerned about ammo.

My girlfriend was playing the lite version of Sally's Spa awhile back and I swear it sounded like a friggin porno with all the moaning ohhs and ahhs. I couldn't stop laughing.

Game of da Dead is free for a little while. It's a pretty entertaining tower defense kinda game. At least worth a try.

Backbreaker football is awesome at $0.99 cents. Pick it up while you can, price will be going up soon when they update the version

I'm totally loving Wild West Guns and before I decide on buying it I was wondering if anyone knew of similar games like it.

Annie's Wild Shot is pretty fun...

I am getting this too looking at this page of the topic, are you using Windows 7?

Edit, figured it out. Looks like it is something wrong with MSUHitman signature.

Yeah, I bought it for my girlfriend's son to play, and it kept him busy for several hours. He got so excited when he beat Wave 10.

Touch lightgun games? Metal Gear Touch kinda gets the job done but WWG is probably the better package for a better price.

While I'm no expert, I imagine the genre isn't that well explored to avoid creating glorified whack-a-mole games. Gameloft had already made WWG and created a bunch of top-notch media for it for Wiiware so an iPhone port turned out to be a cost-effective deal but also a good idea for everyone involved. You probably won't find that many packages as solid and fun as WWG.

Get Polyghost 3D. It's free now and the company I work for, friendswithyou, has some toys for download in it :)

plus the new free + in app DLC has made all comic book readers free, which is a huge awesome plus.

I have a feeling that Zenonia may be about to go on sale. The page for the app says that Zenonia Lite has been released, and for a very limited time the price has been reduced. I see no evidence of either yet, but hopefully the full game will drop to 99 cents.
Baseball Superstars 2010. Who's playing it?
I've been playing it since it released, and already have a season of My League completed as the batter. It's not bad, but the missions seem much harder to complete this time around. I think the slowdown issues that people are complaining about on the comments page should be fixed once they post 1.1.

Zenonia Lite has been out for a while. They most likely never updated the page after they originally released it.

I'm glad to hear that in-app purchases can now happen in free apps. It's about time we got rid of these separate "Lite" versions. However, I hope that apps that come in demo form with in-app unlocking, show their unlocking price in the store, not a price of $0. It should just be standard that all apps are downloadable for free, and then can be unlocked for the listed price, the key being "listed price". Otherwise suddenly everything in the store is going to be listed as free, but you get the surprise of if there is a charge and how much to play the full game.
Dark Harvest is free for the day. Released 3 days ago at $2.99.
Well, any game with characters such as " Anna the Banana to Lascivious Letty the Lettuce" is worth it for me.

Oh well. Thanks for the info. I couldn't find the Lite version, so I thought maybe the price drop hadn't gone into effect. I see now that it once was $5.99, and now it's $2.99.

Sorry I didn't realize that Tripletags.com had closed up shop, now I don't have a sig banner for PS3 :(

Thanks for the info on Puzzle Quest, I'll try to get him going on that next. I may have to keep checking this thread because I don't know if he'll pay $5 for it.

Does anyone know for sure if Press Your Luck will be released on the IPhone alongside the PC, DS, and Wii versions at the end of the month?

Price Is Right was put out on the IPhone but Family Feud (released last month) was not. I'd rather get the IPhone version, but if not I'll look at getting the PC version.

Anyone else notice that the iTunes App version of GTA: Chinatown Wars has been delayed until December? Rather interesting given the pricing controversy that arose due to it being $39.99 for the upcoming PSP version and questions regarding its cost on the App store.

Hook Champ is decent fun. The touch screen gameplay works well and it's a LITTLE finicky for the time-trial nonsense it tries to play at, but still good fun. Easily worth a dollar.

Also of note, I love the game's sense of humor. All the prelevel chats are fun.

"I used to be a powerful pirate, but the captain was jealous of my hook."
"His couldn't bring down the mast of the ship. Mine did. Twice!"

"That big toothed ghost thing keeps appearing every time I grab an idol."
"Maybe we should name him."

"Old Big Teeth seems to be getting faster with every idol I grab."
"That shouldn't be a problem. Swing faster, and think of a better name."

"This idol shall belong in a museum."
"You'll probably just hock it for hats." (Half the items in the item shop are customization hats.)

Hook Champ is a real quality game for .99 cents. It has a great sense of style, it looks like a NES game!

With this and Canabalt, my iPhone has been getting a lot of retro love as of late.

I bought Seduce a SuicideGirl for $0.99. Haven't played it yet, but it looks pretty entertaining.

I actually didn't know it cost $0.99 until long after I had bought it. Oh well, got to love the SG.

Robocalypse is on sale for $1.99. I haven't played it yet but it's received a lot of good reviews. It's RTS and a port of a DS game. Should be worth $1.99 easily it's usually $4.99.

it's really short, but we'll see how they handle new episodes/chapters (free please!)

+1 for Hook Champ. Buy it now (for $1).

I missed Canabalt when it was a $1... now I'm a sad panda (and will not buy it until it's on sale again, because I can play Hook Champ).

Sale ends today, supposedly.

canabalt was never on sale.
Another for hook champ. Well worth a $1 and the controls work great!
Except I don't get pro controls exactly.
