CompUSA on Chicago Ave still 40% off games - Sign says 10 days left 'til closing.

A lot of the better 360 games are gone now & same for PS2 (they had a dozen or more FFXII last week - nothing now.) Couple of notable 360 games with decent stock - Civil War, Test Drive Unlimited, King Kong, Madden 07, NHL 07, NCAA Football 2K7. These might survive a drop to 50% or more if the weekend tourist crowd doesn't snatch everything up.

360 Accessories picked over thoroughly (no 12 month Live kits left and most of what's left are official MS Component/S-Video cables)

Also, somebody totally cleaned out every PS3 game & accessory sometime in the last few days as well.

One find if anyone doesn't have it yet is a bunch of Elite Beat Agents still on the shelf.

I'll check again Monday to see if the % has gone up.
I was there around 6:00 today and saw a couple of ps3 games (full auto, sonic, drankenguard or something). They were kind of hidden but I think they were more or less misplaced. There were also some Wii games placed behind others (Avatar is the only one I can think of now) Also I was lucky and found a hidden FFXII so I grabbed that. Hopefully that stock of Bully sticks around by monday.

Also if someone really wanted FFXII I would be willing to meet them to sell it back at cost ($32.69). I picked it up mainly because it was the last one. I have a lot of games to go through so I probably won't be getting around to it for a couple of months. So if anyone wants it, it's still in the bag next to my desk.

i was also there dayto around 4:00. I going to buy DOA4 for 360 but it was still $22 after 40% off and that's not worth it. I hopefully go back on Tuesday or wednesday if the games and 3 months X-Box live kit is 50-60% off. I may also pick up a king Kong for 360 too.

By the way, if anyone knows where is a Costco on the south side of city?

There is one down around Midway on Cicero. You can get a listing at the web site I believe.

The only Costco on the south side is the one over by Ford City. It's on the west side of Cicero at 72nd-73rd St.

Did anyone see copy of Tony Hawk P8 for PSP at Costco? Not sure if stores carry the PSP version or not. Thanks in advance.

I was at the Chicago Av CompUSA Saturday afternoon at about noon. I had to buy Blazing Angels and Tomb Raider for Xbox 360 cuz (as far as I could tell), they were the last or second to last on the shelf.

I do want to thank everyone for reporting about the CompUSA clearance status. I plan on going back Mon, Tues, or Wed, for the Star Trek game and a Kodak camera starter kit (I just want the crappy tabletop tripod in it), if the markdown hits a great percentage. If anyone goes on any of these days, please report anything as soon as possible. Thanks!

I forgot about Blazing Angels. Hopefully I can find a hidden one on my way back today. I don't remember seeing any yesterday.

Did anyone score big on the B2G1F at Gamestop? I was quite surprised at the quality of good stuff at some of them.

Yes. I wanted to go back again and get 3 more, but I have to practice some restraint.

By the way, if anyone is looking for blue Gamer Giftcards from BB, the store on Harlem/Irving Park had about 30 of them last night. The coupon expires 6/30/07.

Chicago Ave CompUSA stil said 9 days until closing (I'm pretty sure this is a trick to get people to buy more since they usually knock off a day every other day). Prices were still 40%-60$ with games still at 40%. Still a quantiful selection, just not quality. The've moved everything away from the wall and into an aisle.

I used this sale to stock up on DS games - got lucky in that all were complete w/ box/manuals and in mint condition except for the cases (most were dinged up as happens to all EB used games but easy enough to swap out for a new case.)

picked up...

Monopoly/Boggle/Yahtzee/Battleship
Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales
Lost in Blue 2
Phoenix Wright: Justice for All
Wario: Master of Disguise
Kirby: Squeek Squad

Thanks for the update - I will try to make it Wed to check for a drop but Friday at least for sure. Also, I think I see why CompUSA is closing most of their stores - they had 14 days 'til closing on the 28th but now still have 9 left? Who needs to bother with selling stuff when you can manipulate the space/time continuum?
Any chance there'd still be a Marvel: UA game at CompUSA downtown?
I don't remember seeing one today. I have seen a returned copy sold "as is" floating around. I'm not sure how much it was or what the damages were but I'll keep an eye out tomorrow or wednesday.
Any chance there'd still be a Marvel: UA game at CompUSA downtown?
I don't think I saw one yesterday. Also, all that was left for the Wii was two overpriced copies of Far Cry (still at the original retail of 50 bucks), and one copy of "The Grimm Adventures of..." The last copy of Avatar sold while I was there.

On the 360 front there were tons of copies of King Kong, which I actually bit on since it came out to just over 10 bucks. PGR, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, NHL 2K7/2007 were all there in spades. There were a few copies of Oblivion (regular edition) floating around as well, but it was still too rich for my blood at this point.

DS selection is crap, mostly Burnout and crappy licensed games. Lego Star Wars II was the only stand out there. PSP has a ton of games, PS2 selection is great, but XBOX is mainly sports titles. If it drops to 60 anytime soon, there could be some pretty damn good gets in the bunch.

Computers are still quite overpriced (20 percent off I think, but none of them seem like deals).

In a rather funny note, someone literally bought the chair the security guy at the exit was sitting on while we were there. The staff thought it was a joke at first and laughed it off but the guy was dead serious. Liquidations bring out some interesting people to be sure.

Also, did anyone happen to pick up a cheap copy of Tony Hawk for the 360 or Wii at Costco that they'd be willing to sell to a fellow Chicagoian at around cost? I went to the one in Niles this past Saturday only to find that they were completely picked over.

Chicago Ave. CompUSA seems to have jumped ahead in time, the sign read 7 days left. Sill 40%-60%. I did not see Marvel Ultimate Alliance, but it is possible it was buried in the back of some of the games.

NHL 07? I may have to go for one of those, and a King Kong.

I'm going down there tomorrow night, so maybe I'll see another CAG or 2 there!
6 days left for CompUSA Chicago Ave. 50%-70% with games at 50%. It looks like we can still hold out, the selection hasn't gone down much.
Thank you. I'll post another update when I return from the store tonight.

3 days left at CompUSA. Games are 70% off. I managed to get the last 2 copies of NHL 07. The rest of the games for 360 were:

PGR3 (5 or 6)
Eragon (3 or 4)
Pimp My Ride (several)
Kameo (1, maybe 2)
NFS: MW (2 or 3)
NFS: Carbon (4 or 5)

:xbox:
Madden 07 (several)
NFL Head Coach (4 or 5)

They still had a few PC games, too. The only 1 I noticed was WoW: Burning Crusade. Also, still a few DS games.

Thanks. I'll be heading up there tomorrow morning to hopefully get a copy of NFS Carbon and any other misc. junk they have for cheap. Thanks. I hope they are open at 9 am(?)

EDIT: I guess they open at 11 am on Sundays.

Well got there late and the store is now no more.
But ended up buying a wii at the gamestop on canal.
The guy said that they still have 2 more.

Yeah i totally missed out on the clearance.

Anyways have any of you guys seen Mario Power Tennis anywhere? I'm trying to get my hands on one.

Not sure where you live but they had a used copy Mario Power Tennis at the GS in Shorewood, Il (near Plainfield) yesterday

It's like $45 used right?

Just came back from my local Gamestop (2506 W North Ave). I'm suprised that I found a couple games I wanted from the huge sale they're having right now. I picked up Popolocrois and RPG Maker 3. Is RPG Maker 3 considered a rare game? They had 3 left.
I saw Raiden 3 and Red star at the brickyard gamestop if anyone is interested.
Hmmm....I want Red Star. Thanks.

Has anyone seen odin sphere at best buy?

update: Found one at the golf mill best buy. The employee said they only received two copies, so their is one more copy left.

That's a new release game? And if it is, they only got 2 copies in? Wow...
That's a new release game? And if it is, they only got 2 copies in? Wow...
Well, it is being published by Atlus...

I think I saw a coupla copies of Odin Sphere at the Best Buy in Skokie (Village Crossing). That I also saw copies of Disgaea 2 at some random Best Buy makes me doubt how rare or hard-to-come-by those titles will be in the near future.

FYI for any Chicago CAGers, and specifically RPG fans, who are looking to take advantage of the EB/GS B2G1 starting tomorrow, the GS in "Ravenswood Manor" on Montrose west of Western has 1 used copy each of all 3 Shadow Hearts games, if you wanna grab those in one fell swoop. I also saw 4 used copies of Disgaea 2, 4x of La Pucelle, some Suikoden Tactics, and a Suikoden 5, 0 Tales series games, and 1 copy of the 50% off FFXII CE. Also a coupla copies of the $5 Rumble Roses.

I was browsing the Gamestop in (I think) the Stratford Square Mall in Bloomingdale and they had a used, very good condition copy of Rez for PS2 for $40, FWIW. Make sure you call to double check, my memory's terrible.
Will anyone be getting the halo zune?
No. Legendary Halo 3 Edition costs so much, IF I had money to blow on a Halo Zune, it's going to the Legendary.

Just wanted to let everyone know that the Virgin Megastore on Michigan Ave. will be closing on July 14th. Currently the entire stock is 25% off. Sadly, they shipped all of their video games to other stores. They still have some plug and play games but no ps2, xbox, etc.

Do they have DVD's or even better...HD DVD's? If so, I may have to pay the store a visit.

Motherfuckers!! I guess i'll try to go Saturday and buy some graphic novels, DVDs and other stuff.

There are still a lot of DVDs, a decent amount of blue ray and slightly less HD DVD.

I'm not sure if there were any graphic novels left, but I didn't look around for them.

Damn! I never thought that store would close! I suppose I should get down there. I've got a list of cds that I need to pick up.

Edit: Even with the 25% off, the shit is still more than what I'd pay at Best Buy. I'll wait till it drops to 40% off.
