Hello, I am a Chicago guy so I would like to start a Chicago thread so maybe we can help each other out by letting Chicago area cheapasses find cheap deals.

Ok I went to two best buy the one in golf mill and skokie (on touhy) and they didnt have crap.

So if anyone can get me a Growlanser Generations $9.99, sega superstar $9.99 and paper mario 2 $9.99 I would appreciate it. Thanks. :)

Well also if anyone has doubles (and they want to sell) of anything, post and I will see if any interest me.

Just got back from a Best Buy run. Picked up Otogi 2 and . .. that's it. They seemed pretty cleared out (although I did find the empty price holders for many other titles I wanted.) Went to the Bloomingdale and Addison locations.

rocksolid - there was one more copy of Otogi 2 at Bloomingdale but that was a couple hours ago so I doubt it's there now. Maybe other Chicago CAGs picked it up? Anyone? I know you're out there judging by the empty shelves as of 10:02 am . . . .

My post from the parent thread:

Chicago area report:

I started hitting stores a little before 11AM in the following order:
Touhy (Village Xing)
Howard (Evanston)
Old Orchard
Golf (Des Plaines/Niles)
HIP

The best bet I recommend for others is the Old Orchard store, they still have some of the fodder titles. It appeared as though most of the stores had already been picked over, if they had the desirable titles in the first place. One cashier mentioned people coming in knowing about deals.

I managed to score Ys but not Growlanser, and a few extra cheapies because I'd like to take advantage of the EBGames $5 extra deal.

I used 2 McD coupons at 2 different stores with no real problem.

I had multiple instances of list discrepancies, mostly with the $4.99 titles ringing up higher. I left my checklsit in the car, but I remember the deer hunting title, crash 'n burn, rocky legends, and Scaler xbox ringing up higher.

I'm going to try to hit the Chicago-proper stores after work, but I don't have much hope.

Good luck CAGers.

p.s. Ryosnk, you wouldn't happen to be black, would you? I saw a guy with a paper list, but I didn't ask any questions.
Was the friend you were shopping with Andy, by chance?
Why, yes, Brandon from Columbus, it was. He goes by gdrx on these boards, if you can ever get him to post.

*CHECKS SKIN* Nope I'm not black but a healthy brown(latino) ;). Hey if you find any more cheap fodder titles I will be interested.

How do I get my name added to the group list? I checked Lombard today and found only 1 copy of Otogi 2. I'm checking the Berwyn store in 2 hours...

I need Paper Mario, Mechassault 2, Medal of Honor:RS, Tron 2.0, Jedi Academy, Viewtiful Joe (Cube), Medal Gear Solid:TS (Cube).

Thanks!
*CHECKS SKIN* Nope I'm not black but a healthy brown(latino) ;). Hey if you find any more cheap fodder titles I will be interested.
Heh; I'm latino, too. Like I wrote, the only place that had anything left was the Old Orchard store on Golf+Skokie. I have exactly 5 titles I'm going to try to trade in to EBX later tonight, so if any of them get POXed, I'll probably offer them up to the CAG community.

I wrote I was going to check out the within-Chicago BBs, but it looks like rocksolidaudio already reported.

Check the Matteson store in the south-burbs but they had nothing except for one copy of "Lord of the Rings:The Third Age" which I picked up as a X-mas gift for my brother. Gonna try the Lansing store on my way home unless someone tells me not to bother.

didn't get to BB until 3pm-- needless to say, skokie had 3 copies of Growlanser and 2 copies of Ys cleared out (they were there on sunday.)

so yeah, the BB sale is kind of a bust for chicago..

more importantly, anyone find a Target with We Love Katamari? I checked the stock number through Golf Mill, Evanston, and Glenview(Willow Rd.) and none of em had it.
Why, yes, Brandon from Columbus, it was. He goes by gdrx on these boards, if you can ever get him to post.
I just remember him telling me something about finding Nocturne in Chicago. I don't know why I remembered it from like well over a month ago.

By the way, I'm the guy that used to play Rainbow Six on Live with you and him. Spitfire5151.

Hey rocksolidaudio, if I trade in five games for the nba live pre-order, can I cancel and transfer it to mk shaolin monks?

Also is the nascar trade in four and get the game promotion still running?

Also to everyone, which fye store is the best in Chicago to trade in games?
Negative at Gurnee and Highland Park for We Love Katamari.
But I'm not giving up hope!
None at the Elston and Miliwake Target either.

I was at the clark and diversey best buy and they had a few games that where part of that sale.

ps2:
MRS
army men
y's
scaler
rocky
polar express
sega superstar
max payne

xbox:
scaler
godzilla

When were you there? Like I mentioned elsewhere, I hit up a Best Buy one day later and still found some trade-in fodder. I stopped at the Arlington Heights (on Rand) BB last night and they didn't have any of the good stuff, but I didn't have my list.

Forgot to mention that I met rocksolidaudio in person Tues night.

A 110% good guy.

I was their yesterday and they had alot of more games but not all good ones but decent trade-in stuff.

Overall from this sale I was able to get scaler, godzilla, astro boy, rocky, sega superstars, and Y's.

Well, I still have a bitter taste in my mouth from the Best Buy September 12th Clearance Sale. What are the chances of Godzilla: Save the Earth still in-stock at the Best Buy on Clark and Diversey?...
Whats new with everyone?
playing Ninja Gaiden Black and Okami, bout to go out to the Abbey Pub in a few minutes to see Black Dice, Themselves and Notwist. it's getting cold here, but concert season is starting (at least for us bar flies) :) I'm also trying to come up with a scheme to get on a 1st 360 shipment, to no avail of course. Other than that, I'm trying to figure out whether to go to depaul, loyola or madison next semester.

How is everyone doing?

I got some stuff I wanna sell

PS2:
Disgaea
Fatal Frame 2

Well those are pretty much the only 2 that stand out.
When I'm not lazy ill make a complete list and put it in the CAG Traders Thread.

I dont mind getting rid of these for cheap.

I seen a few copies of the Godzilla game at the old orchard best buy.

Also Apossum go be a Rambler ;).

So... anybody find some decent KB games locally? I'm thinking of heading out this weekend, and any heads-up as to stores with remaining stock would be mighty helpful. I guess dfg posted about what he thought of the store nearest me (the Lincolnwood Town Center one) in the main KB thread, but any other local accounts would be appreciated. Some games I'd be interested in adding to my collection:

Mostly PS2 (unless otherwise noted):
Sly 2
Midway Arcade Treasures 2
Enter the Matrix
Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal
Dragonball Z: Budokai (though the GC version of the original would've been better)
James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing (Xbox version works, too)
Medal of Honor: Frontline (for the Xbox)

Thanks in advance.

Nice. I was at the Abbey Pub a few months ago to see one of my favorite rock bands, Skeleton Key. I love how the AP hosts a lot of hip-hop shows. Those bands you mention I haven't heard of... and reading their description/blurb thing of the music calendar doesn't help at all...

Game-wise, I've got a huge backlog of games, so will not likely be making any more purchases anytime soon. I used various resources found at CAG to make it easier to pick up a few games, and have some credit left over, and for that I'm very grateful to this community.

re: KB - I didn't find much at all, just one $5 copy of Freedom Fighters.

They are pretty hard to describe-- a Black Dice show consists of ambient noise with drum machines for an hour, Notwist is a rock band and Themselves are an Anticon hip hop group-- and they formed another band.
I actually ditched the show to go to the empty bottle, I didn't want to pay $18(+beer) to see those bands and deal with a full house. Usually they play smaller places for cheaper when they're in town.

So how many of you guys have 360's reserved? Anyone know of a place with few preorders? fat chance at this point I suppose ;-)
So how many of you guys have 360's reserved? Anyone know of a place with few preorders? fat chance at this point I suppose ;-)
I have one reserved at my local gamestop, but I am on second shipment.
I am trying to slowly pay it off before it arrives. I currently have about $250 down and will be putting more down in two weeks.

Still undecided on what game I want. Two many actual good titles to choose from and at an average of $60 makes it hard to pick.

I doubt that you could get a reserve anywhere for 1st batch shipment.

The only reason reserved it because I got one of the new PS2's from the Mejier sale a few months ago for $100 and then traded in my old ps2 for $138.00 with accessories and games. So I really did not loose that much money and got a new PS2!

Unfortunately, their clearance games were reduced to a small stack of PS2 titles in a tiny cardboard box, but they had some of the games I wanted, so I couldn't complain. There may be a few Matrices and Poker games (with real cards bundled with!) left over, along with the opened discs and such, but that's about it. Glad I went out, though.

Jee-sus. I was at the LWTC early on and had to ask the clerks to check in their disorganized-as-hell behind-the-counter case for a few titles. They didn't mention a separate display, but there was one at the Golf Mill store. I was hoping to get ETM cheap—I have this bad habit of leaving saves on my memory card from games I rented and never finished. Nice finds.

Holy crap. I was just checking out the IKEA website for bookcases. On the front page, they note that there was a special event going on for the grand opening of the new Bolingbrook store:
Celebrate our Bolingbrook Grand Opening at IKEA Bolingbrook and IKEA Schaumburg

1st person in line at 9:00am (must be 18 or over) gets a $3,000 gift card.
2nd person in line at 9:00am (must be 18 or over) gets a $2,000 gift card.
3rd person in line at 9:00am (must be 18 or over) gets a $1,000 gift card.
First 100 adults in line at 9:00am (must be 18 or over) will get a free POANG armchair ($79 value).
First 100 kids in line at 9:00am (under 18) will get a free FAMNIG Heart soft toy.

Three grand would go a LONG way at IKEA. But it didn't say when the grand opening is/was. A little stealth navigating and bam! 9/28.

Fuuuuuuu**.

I don't feel that bad, though, because I'm sure it was a madhouse. There've been times at the Schaumburg store where the cars were backed up to get into the huge-ass parking lot. I can imagine a swarm of soccer moms clawing and screaming to be the first in line. I guess an analogy for this from the gamer's perspective is when consoles launch. I remember the PS2 launch.

Also used a $3-off coupon from the Nintendogs-DS deal a little while back, so I felt pretty good about this purchase. Will make a further update about remaining stock a bit later...

--Dan
So yeah, it's a little late, but here's what I remember about what's left at the Western TRU on Wednesday (9/28/05):

- Lotsa Call of Duty for the PS2, but the $5-off Activision deal may be over, so YMMV.
- I took the last Sega Superstars, though... sorry!
- Same with the PS2 Midway Arcade Treasures 2 (yeah, I should've clarified that it was the second compilation). MAT1 for the Xbox came up regular price, so I left that at the register. I took that last MAT2 for the PS2, however (once a supervisor was called in to approve my purchase for a penny, of course).
- One PS2 Musashi in the case behind the counter, I believe.
- Metal Slug 4 & 5 in the case, but they probably aren't on the list like MS3 is.
- A number of Polariums for the DS, in the DS section closer to the back where a section of green-tagged games are being stored.
- At least four or five Feel the Magics, too.
- Back there, a bunch of Phantom Braves for PS2, if you were ever interested in strategy RPGs; the final price should be $15 each.
- Oh yeah, lots of Syphon Filter for the PS2 as well.

Unfortunately, my memory's started to get a little cloudy, but I'll update with more titles if they come to me. Happy hunting, y'all! (Oh, and if someone sees a cheap copy of Gradius V somewhere, please let me know; I forgot to look for it... again.)

--Dan

I was at Wal*Mart last night, contributing to the plight of the American working class, and I noticed that in the VG section there is still one copy of Shadow Hearts Covenant going for $14.88, and a couple of copies of that Baten Kaitos game I keep hearing about on this board, but I couldn't see the price.

That's the Wal*Mart on Touhy in/near Village Crossing.

side note: VC and the immediate vicinity has a Best Buy, CompUSA, Circuit City, Target, Wal*Mart, Gamestop, and Disc Recyclery right there together. Good place to go when you have to compare prices, eh?

Is anyone going to try to get wrestlemania tickets? IF so, what is the best way to get them through online, wait in line, or go to a ticketmaster booth?

Also, would anyone have the cinderella dvd with necklace(target exclusive) a=or the litograph for sale?

Thanks.

I would guess that online would be the easiest. I'm very tempted to get tickets, but I'm unsure if I would be able to get in town during that weekend.

Whoa. New location for the thread. Good idea.
I wish I could convince my mods+admins that further subdivision and organization can be good for a forum.

I'm interested in Wrestlemania tickets too, but with last year's selling out within a minute, I'm not very optimistic.

And with Allstate being a small arena compared to the locations Wrestlemania is normally held it, it will sell out that much quicker.

Hi all. Can anyone tell me if there is anyplace in Chicagoland for Fullmetal Alchemist, Digital Devil Saga, Taiko Drum Master, or Midway Arcade Treasures 2. I'd ask about Atelier Iris and Makai Kingdom, but getting those cheap is a lost cause. >.

probably not.....i am considering seeing Ghostface tonight, though :)

Question!

Has anyone had any trouble stacking McDonald's best buy bucks at any Chicagoland best buy yet?

I got about 23 bbb and wanting to use it RE4 (North Ave.) when it comes out.

So whos going to try and get WORLD SERIES TICKETS!!! on tues for the White Sox?!?!?!

So I was just wondering what would be easier, to call ticketmaster or to just use the internet and hope for the best?

I can't believe the fucking White Sox are in the World Series!!!!!!!! WOOOT go White Sox!!!!

Wrestlemania tickets was a bust sold out in in minutes (online). I thinking White Sox tickets will also be very hard to come by tickmaster.com was a waste of time and effort for wrestlemania tickets and calling ticketmaster all I got was a busy signal. I'm thinking standing in line at the box office is the best bet.
