Movie four of the marathon, and the first movie of trilogy two.
 
I'm about to watch 8 ½, Blue Velvet, or both. :lol:

I kinda want to watch Three Kings as well, but I've seen it and I'm trying to stick to my list until I finish everything. Though Maybe I can make an exception, as I haven't seen it since the theatrical run.

Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back

Original version again. Among my favorite movies of all time. And that makes movie five in the marathon, and movie two of the second trilogy.

watch blue velvet! Dennis Hopper is a freaking psycho in that movie, more so than his other psychotic roles...and Isabella Rosellini is pretty awesome in it too.
 
Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi

My least favorite of the original three, but an excellent film nonetheless. Watching it again solidified these movies as my favorite trilogy of all time, beating Lord of the Rings, Indiana Jones, Matrix, everything.
 
Went to see Land of the Dead (finally) tonight. GREAT movie.. even saw new ways to kill people that i'd never seen before (finger scene, anyone?)
 
GoldenEye - One of my favorite Bond films. Really revamped the series and had a great story. It's also one of my favorite Brosnan films where I think he really shines. The other three Bond films with him just suck, to say the least. They all went down hill after this one and don't tell me that Die Another Day was good like the media and press made it out to be.
 
Fantastic Four - Very decent movie. The changes that they made to it to adapt the comic series didn't bother me at all. I still don't really like how the Thing looks like in the movie, but somehow it worked out and it sort of clicked once I saw it in the movie. Also, Michael Chiklis plays the Thing perfectly. It really brings some heart to the movie and to the big guy. He really got this character right and is the best actor in the movie, next to the actor who did Doc Doom. He really understands the character and brings some emotion and depth to him.

I forgot to mention it also has teh Alba, which is always good. The Special Effects were so-so. I thought they could have done better in this department to tell you the truth. The special effects looked really outdated and just didn't seem to mold into the movie seamlessly. I mean, it worked, but when you compare it to what was in movies like Spiderman, X-men, etc. you're kind of ashamed that Fantastic Four got the shaft.

I must say that I came into this film not really expecting much (the previews for IMO make it out to be god awful and against the comic book), but came out feeling some enjoyment and thinking the movie was decent. It's no Spiderman which just leaves you exacerbated and in awe, but again, I can't get this point across enough that it was decent. Nothing spectacular. If you have to see any comic book based movie this weekend then I owuld recommend seeing Batman Begins instead.
 
I saw a sneak preview of The Island.

I must say that Scarlet Johannson is one of the most strikingly beautiful women I have ever laid my eyes on. I realize that now. As I was watching her on screen my eyes almost filled with tears.

Almost.

That's how beautiful she is.
 
Bride of Frankenstein

Superb. The monster's character is done perfectly, it has a great sense of humor, and is a wonderfully fun film. Easily outpaced the original.
 
Godzilla: Final Wars at the Pickwick Theater in Chicago (with a nearly sold out crowd. I would say that 99% of the theater was full, maybe even the entire theater).
It's not the best G Film ever, and it's very different from the other films.
The human drama found between the monster battles was replaced with Matrix style fighting and car chases, which was fine with me, because I was expecting it. The pacing (Godzilla is in the very beginning, then again 40 or 50 minutes into the film, which is way to long between appearances), the score could have been better, and a few CGI shots could have been improved, but overall I enjoyed the film. Some monsters are killed in seconds, including Hedorah (the Smog Monster) who gets about 5 seconds of screen time. Godzilla was super powerful in this movie, but I wish some of the battles were longer (like the Anguirus/Cesear/Rodan and the Sea Monster/Hedorah battles). Also, some more city destruction scenes would have been nice.
The Matrix fighting was pretty good, and so were most of the monster battles. The parts with humans didn't drag on, like they do in some Godzilla films.
GFW didn't take itself seriously, which some G-Fans will hate, but it's a Godzilla film that can provide entertainment for nearly everybody, which is really what films are all about.

Now I see where The Coen Bros. got some of their brilliance.
 
Last movie I saw was "Land of the Dead".

THAT MOVIE SUCKS, DON'T WATCH IT! WAIT FOR IT TO COME ON TV!


IT IS NOT A ZOMBIE MOVIE, THERE IS NO TENSION OR HORROR, AND THE ZOMBIES ARE NOT THE MAIN ENEMY, THEY ARE JUST PART OF THE SETTING!

Dawn of the Dead

1978 version. Pretty kick ass. My first Romero (hell, my first zombie movie) and it didn't disappoint. Great gore, some nice humor and satire, and some solid tension.

And, yes, I know I really need to see Night of the Living Dead.

The Girl in the Cafe - an HBO original production. I loved it! It's an unusual and intelligent love story with political overtones set against the background of a fictional G8 Summit meeting. A shy and lonely British civil servant meets a girl (where else?) in a cafe.... It gave me a lot to think about.

Pretty good. The very non-linear story was a bit offputting at first and, although it did get much better as the connections between the characters became more clear, I think that it might have blunted the emotional impact of the film somewhat. I also should note that the cast was excellent, great performances all around.
