It's Bigger than "The Hip-Hop Thread"

As for the Hamilton situation...

Enough said. I dig him as an artist but that negro STAY taking losses among the public eye. Sad. He was wrong to disrespect her on camera but she shouldn't have started shit she clearly wasn't prepared to finish verbally.

with Primo doing some tracks?!?!? hopefully this will be everything I've been waiting for!!!

New Dilla album is pretty good. Drops officially on Tuesday, June 2. Disappointing that the Blu-feature is mundane, though. Actually, though it's above-average, the album as a whole is disappointing.

Yeah, that Blu track is really weak. Shame the album wasn't very good, but more Dilla stuff is always nice.

Anyways, did anyone happen to listen to The Grouch & Eligh's, Say G&E? Or how about Big Pooh's, The Delightful Bars? You guys should check them out if you haven't. Really liked both albums.

Here's a track from Say G&E feat. Blu, called Old Souls:

And here's a track from The Delightful Bars feat. Torae, called It's A Go:

cool. I added both in my save list for when my emusic tokens reset in a month.

also, on that Del page he has 2 leak collections u can download,

one of the songs, Final Clues by Bukue One, obscenely samples my favorite song of all time!!!

Connie - Funky Little Beat!!

dood... like I've been waiting all my life to hear something like that!! it's so awesome!!!

all I need now is for someone to sample Nu Shooz' I cant Wait and Glamorous Life by Sheila E into a rap song

I really like Deeskee but the dude went really went overboard on his first real "solo" album. Its a great album but I have to admit that after his "In Loving Memory Of Joey" ep from earlier this year would lead to him doing a couple instrumental songs on this.

here is the track list
1. Radiate (feat. Prince Po, Key Kool, LD)
2. Combustible Compounds (feat. Fatlip, P.E.A.C.E., Scarub)
3. Indymand (feat. LMNO, 2mex, Liferexall)
4. West Coast Business (feat. Maleko, Z-Man)
5. Relative Work (feat. Premonition, Nocando, Subtitle, Joe Dub, WD4D)
6. Wontwenny (feat. Radioinactive, Busdriver)
7. Daydreaming (feat. Existereo, Xololanxinxo & Rozzi Daime, Talia Mays, Ikey Owens)
8. Eye Thingk (feat. P.E.A.C.E., & Awol One, Tha Goonie)
9. Hip Hop Legends (feat. Ellay Khule, Murs)
10. Look Out! (feat. Rakaa Iriscience, K984)
11. Metronome Click (feat. 2mex, Lord Zen, Liferexall, Brother J, Sach)
12. False Hope (feat. Barfly, Existereo, Fatlip)
13. Life Like (Graffiti On The Wall) (feat. Akuma, Dannu, Awol One,2mex, Medusa & Bleek)
14. Motel Six (feat. Qwel, Bishop I, Sleep & Mestizo)
15. Mad World (feat. Neila, Isaiah & Die Del Amor)
16. Space Needle (feat. Existereo, Gel Roc, Longevity, 2mex, Roach the DJ)
17. How Many MCs ‘09 (BONUS TRACK) (feat. Joe Dub, Subtitle, Premonition, Doc Lewd, Maleko, Metfly, Existereo, Akuma, Liferexall, Awol One, Tommy V, Neila, EVS, Raj, Spaceranger, Die Del Amor, Thesis Sahib, , Nocando, Topic, Matre, Ceschi & Xololanxinxo)

I was hoping to get some artist recommendations.

I think I've got most of the classics, I'm sure I'm missing a few. Haven't dove into the slightly more obscure yet.

Last time someone recommended Mobb Deep (which I now love) and yesterday I went through Gang Starr's catalogue and equally dig.

Reccomendations? :bouncy:

east coast stuff?? comparable to Mobb Deep, listen to Capone n Noreaga - The War Report.

comparable to Gangstarr check out MOP or Jeru the Damaja.

that east coast vibe in general, try Big L (DITC), Boot Camp Clik, or Wu Tang

Already got Nas and Wu-Tang under my belt :bouncy:

I dig the West Coast stuff too. As for the South, I'm only somewhat familiar with some of it, mostly more recent acts. I'd love some Southern stuff that isn't lyrically weak as the production is usually very good.

I'll look into the above mentioned artists :bouncy:

Southern stuff:
-CunninLynguists
-UGK
-Little Brother
-Goodie Mob
-Killer Mike

As you can tell, I don't play a lot of Southern hip-hop, but there are some others like LB that aren't exactly from the South but more the D.C. area like Kev Brown, Kenn Starr, etc...
^ Naaaassssttttyyyy. Real nice.
Yeah i'm still in shock that they are in a group together. I can't wait to see them at rock the bells this year.

Man, I haven't listened to Quik or Kurupt in years

I'll be lookin' out for the Slaughterhouse album then, that track's given me some faith in it.

Go listen to the album 'Tha Streetz Iz a Mutha' right now. One of the best west coast albums of all time.

I'm on it! Last one I ever listened to from Kurupt was Space Boogie, and I was diggin' that album :p

Edit: Just listened to some of the tracks and I used to have some of these on repeat, I just never realized I was listening to this album *doh*
Which reminds me, "Who Ride Wit Us" still bugs me, they used to blast that on the radio over and over back then and I could just never like the track.
The intro of Girls All Pause still makes me laugh - "Dog Pound! Where da gangstas at? woof woof!" lol

So the new Mos is REALLY that nice? Shit... I might have to check it out asap. The last album was rather lackluster and completely turned me off of any new releases.

^ eh, they got some talent on their roster... I think sometimes the projects just don't gel like they could/should...

But yeah, this shit is dope... and, you should check out Mos' live performace of "Quiet Dog Bite Hard" from Letterman last night, it sounded doper than the studio cut.

so like I go to google to look up info on the Quik/Kurupt album only to discover the Fixxers album came out in 2007.

and here I am in 2009 all like "damn I wonder when that Fixxers album is gonna come out" -_-...

There is a hell of a story behind that album. "The group's debut album, Midnight Life, was supposed to be released in 2007, but never received a physical release; It was sold via the MySpace page of the Secret Music Group, with Quik claiming this was an unauthorized, unfinished version of the album, sold by a former business partner who had hacked Quik's MySpace to make the release look official"

Capcom already released some tracks with HD Remix that had Hiero, Zion I, Mista Fab, Redman, and Q-Bert.

sounded like a good lineup, but the songs all underwhelmed save the Q-Bert one...

I'm still back in 2007. Just started listening to 'Finding Forever' by Common today. I'm actually liking it, even if it is soft as fuck!
Hell yeah, new Mos is so good.
props go to you my friend i remember you posting that it was good

I forgot to ask, and I don't think anyone asked about it, but has anyone listened to that new De La Soul album, Are You In? It's about a month or two old. Really enjoyed it!
