It's Bigger than "The Hip-Hop Thread"

been listening to the new one from The 49ers. Didn't even know they had a new one coming out. Still need a few more listens to it but so far I would put it just a notch about their State of The Art album. Still grateful that Goon Trax signed this group from Delaware, without them signing them, no one would have ever heard of them....plus we some kick ass tracks from Cradle

I saw this on the gaf:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/1xtra/30yearsofhiphop/downloads/jagskills.shtml

and a mirror link to the MP3

http://www.zshare.net/download/582906872fc23906/

definitely gotta try to check that out tomorrow even tho I prolly already kno all the songs lol.

at least... know everything 90s and later.

anyway other than that... currently on my 2nd play thru of Dagha.

it's alrite... I enjoy it but I aint diggin it too much... he's really bitter but the songs sound all happy-like.

also listened to the new Jadakiss album the other week.

it sucks. lol. seriously, thanks for nothing. I dont even want a new Lox album anymore >_

To me, thats what makes the album work. If it was dark, it would be a bit one note and really depressing but giving it a upbeat tone gives it a really cynical feel and keeps your attention

I'm going to Rock The Bells 09 without a doubt.
I wanna check out Slaughterhouse (Joe budden, Joell Ortiz, Royce Da 5'9", and Crooked I) and Nas And Damian Marley should be awesome.

Bone Thugs' Art of War has to be the best double hip hop album in history. Discuss.

Honorable mention: Biggie's Life After Death

I really like DJ Honda but I swear, sometimes the dude seems to go out of his way to pick some of the worst rappers out there to work with. His new one, All Killa No Filla, has some of his best in the last 10 years but this dude named Problemz really brings down the album.

I hope the instrumentals get released.

I remember buying the cd from Infamous Syndicate back in the days becoz I saw their music video and remembered they were on a song from H II.

wasnt a very good idea lol

I'm sure this'll be deleted, but if anybody could point me towards the leaked version of Food & Liquor that got scrapped, I'd appreciate it. I never got around to getting it, and I have a hankering after seeing Lupe yesterday. I can't seem to find it after a brief search

honestly, don't waste your time. The retail was a huge improvement over the leak... I had it on here, checked for you to see, but remembered I deleted it because it was pretty awful. How they turned it into what was released surprised me, way better.

been listening to Dj Sly's Sweet Melody quite a bit lately. I have to admit, it doesn't do a whole lot to stand out style wise from your usual DJ album from Japan but the songs are really good. Also, this album makes me wish more DJs would sample whale sounds or hell, animal sounds period. It makes anything magical.

Talking about DJ/Instrumental albums I have been feeling "Blockhead - Uncle Tony's Coloring Book" it is not his usually dark and gloomy stuff but more chill out (and even danceable?) like he says in his liner notes but he will back to the dark stuff later.
New ridiculously ill music video by T-Double (Turbo)

Oh, and three free albums from Cali producer SeouL Avenger: Switch 4 Lanes, Turn Back Around, Psychedelia From The Land Of Morning Calm.

Enjoy.
Good to see someone else is liking Turbo and I will check out those free albums when I have time.

Heh. Jekki's a huge fan of his work as well. It's a shame no one will sign him (not even Lupe or Charles Hamilton which have both signed off on him). ;\

NoCanDo - The Man Who Served The World

2007 Scribble Jam winner, NoCanDo just dropped a new free EP y'all should seriously check out. It's absolutely monstrous. I'm glad to see the ol' stale battle emcee mentality hasn't quite set in with him yet.

NoCanDo - The Patient EP

The new Cool Kids mixtape is out on their website. It's going to take me a quick minute to get used to the new level of nonchalant swag infused in most of the production, but for the most part it is a straight mixtape. The Pennies remix is f*cking Willy Wonka I just miss the old Oscar The Grouch-esque bangers from their first tape. ;'(
The new Eminem CD leaked and I'm not feeling it at all. He really needs to lose the accent.
Actually get to the end.

If you don't say Deja Vu and Beautiful are amazing, I don't know what to say.

Bump!

Meth & Red's Blackout! 2 leaked earlier. Took a quick listen through and I enjoyed it for the most part.

Also, for anyone that doesn't know... OB4CL2 got dated for August 11th! Take a listen to that first single, New Wu :

So, what's the general consensus on Relapse? Good? Bad? Mixed?

Relapse was a tough listen for me. I'm not really into Em like I was five or six years ago, so take that however you want. But I just got really tired of his rhyme schemes and voices.

I've posted about him in the SOTM but I haven't posted about him in here. But anyways, Azat a dude from Poland has released a new free mix titled Slow Down. Definitly worth downloading this and Make A Record Of Your Voice And Send It To Him. Dude is someone to keep an eye on, he's fucking sick

Same goes for me. He just doesn't have that "oomph" that he used to have. That's why I never really showed any interest into his newest, especially after hearing the first singles.

man I'm so out of it still... so much crap coming out and I have no idea o_O

my recent pickups, all from emusic and other avenues...

Phil tha Agony - Think Green
Mr Lif - Heard it Today
Mr Complex - Twisted Mister
Kero One - Windmills of the Soul
Sadat X - Brand New Bein
Mobb Deep - The Safe is Cracked
Brother Ali - Undisputed Truth
Stoupe - Decalouge
Zion I - Takeover

there's a new Camp Lo mixtape came out that I overlooked, and Steele from Smif n Wessun has a album/mixtape out that has a lot of impressive guests on it... both of those are on my horizon with Blackout 2!!

I thought Relapse was ok, with the exception of a couple of tracks. I just think the production could have been more varied. I wander what the second "comeback" album will be like?

I'm waaaayyyyy out of the loop if I just found out about this shit. ;'(

methredbo2.jpg

I've been listening to most of it on Meth's MySpace and real talk I'm pleasantly surprised. Definitely picking it up Tuesday.
I'm gonna pick up Relapse only cause I have all his other shit. It's not great, but not awful either.
Is the album all dumb shit like 'We Made You' or does it have some good tracks for the true hip-hop fans as well (like his original LP's did)?

that's hard to say... There's nothing on here like Say What You Say or Role Model, really.

If I were him, seriously, I'd release a re-recorded updated version of "Infinite"
Relapse isn't awful, but it just has too much of that stupid weird voice bullshit.
Well, I'm gonna give it a listen now. Haven't heard new stuff from him in so long I figured it's worth giving a try.

I've been listening to Relapse since Monday and so far I don't like it very much. It's not growing on me either... in fact I'm having a tough time finding any songs I like on that disc.
dood that video is amazing!!!

anyway... Blackout 2... best album of the year! p-p-p-p-put it in the air~!!
Agreed on both accounts. I had the chance to listen to BO2 at work today and god damn is it a solid album. I'm glad those two still got it.

seriously! I'm listening to the album and I'm like wtf?!?! arent these guys suppose to be like 80 now?!?!

too bad u cant say the same about Nas... OOOOOOHH!!!

Word.

LOL @ the Nas crack though... dead ass. Every time a person criticizes Nas a pseudo-intellectual loses a testicle. It's a scientific fact.
