It's Bigger than "The Hip-Hop Thread"
Blackalicious. Good shit.
Before Gab went on stage for a show a while back he was just smoking outside his bus so I came said what up... he's a real cool cat. He's incredibly relaxed conversing whereas on the mic he's a beast.

I'm on emusic now and I'm like dang.... there's nothing to get >_<

I'm picking up the first Platinum Pied Pipers album since they came out with a new one and I've never listened to them.

any other recommendations??

I'm looking at the Busdriver selection, another artist who I've never listened to. What's the best album to start with??

I'm seriously about to spend all my points on electronic music lol

for Busdriver, Temporary Forever is where you want to start.

Can't go wrong with PPP's new one though I honestly prefer their first album, Triple P. Just keep in mind that they are a R&B.

As for other recs, if they have them:

Cradle's new one Velvet Ballads. It might be under Cradle Orchestra (for some reason they added Orchestra to the end of their name)

Choice37's Diligence. Awesome album from a cat out of San Fran. Stylistically its along the lines of Kero One.

Carlos Nino & Lil' Sci presents What's The Science? Elevation. Awesome overlooked album from last year. Lil Sci is the shit (fuck, Scienz Of Life was a bad ass group) and Carlos Nino's jazz makes it an absolute beast of an album

Dagha's The Divorce. Insight's buddy dropping his debut album last year. Shit is sick. His style is more or less Insight with hints of Fatlip.

any of Dela's albums. Dude is a DJ who works with some real good talent. Good party music with a few slower songs that changes it up.

anything from Lone Catalysts. Its J. Rawls and J. Sands working with some topnotch talent. Cant go wrong with anything these two have their hands in.

Muneshine's Opportunity Knocks. Dope DJ/Producer/Rapper. Great flow, great beats...just overall bad ass.

Myka9's new one, 1969 is pretty fucking sick.

The Shape Shifters' Chainsmokers. Its the group that AWOL One, Life Rexall, Radioinactive and Akuma got their start.

Ugly Duckling's Audacity. Flat out, IMO, its their best album to date. Awesome top to bottom.

though if I remember right, you don't lick instrumental albums but these two are worth checking out even without being a fan

45's Hello Friends. If I remember right, your not a big fan of instrumental stuff but the album is outstanding

Onra's 1.0.8. Its an instrumental album is but its the best one to get released so far this year

cool thanks. a lot of those they dont got on the site tho o_O

picked up Dagha and Myka 9 for now with th rest of my points, in addition to Temporary Forever

yeah, have no idea on what they have so I figured a smattering of recommendations would at least cover a couple of things that that they should have had
Anyone into Immortal Technique???
Yes that dude is NICE!!!!!!! I saw him at Rock the Bells last year. It was awesome

who downloaded the DOOM album... I want to hold off listening until it drops Tuesday, but the wait is killing me and I have the itch to DL it.

Ditto. I'm really trying to be a good fan... but ugh. I work tonight and if I didn't have my iPod on blast I wouldn't make it through the night. This is killing me. softly ;(

u think it has potential to grow on you tho??

Mmm Food was aiite at first, but then it grows on you so hard.

seriously, I think I gotta dig it up and listen lol

^ listened to MM Food? last night because while playing peggle and picking a CD my girl was like, what's MM Food.... so I listened, DOOM actually sounds.. I dunno, younger? his throat sounds clearer.

I listened to Gazillion Ear and that song is incredible. I'm a big DOOM homer though so, I am bias.
Gazzillion Ear is definitely my fav. track on the album. The Dilla production on that is top-notch.
Gazzillion Ear a great track! My fav might be actually Raekwon's Yessir! track. I DL it yesterday, listened to it about 5-6 times. I will be buying it Tuesday. Any deals on it? bonus tracks etc.? I think it's better IMO than mmm food, and the Vic Vaughn stuff. I think I enjoy it as much as Operation Doomsday. It's not a good as Madvillany but not much is anyway.

yeay like it'll ever come out lol.

Detox too.

and sadly... Armor of God

I waited all 2008 for Vakill's Armor of God to come out, and at this rate I'll prolly be waiting all 2011.

Awww, man! You had to bring up Cuban Linx 2. I hope it comes out this year. The majority of the Vatican mixtapes are just making the wait for Cuban Linx 2 even harder!

Beatconductor has one bad ass remix of Likwidation on his new album, Brand New Secondhand called Just Can't Get Enuff (Depeche Mode providing the hook. Hence the name). Never in a million years would I have thought Likwidation could work as disco

Yeah, it snuck up on me too. Someone just let me know that it got released on iTunes last Monday or Tuesday, I think. Might've been earlier. I just know I had to swoop that up as soon as they told me.

dang I jus randomly found out yesterday about a new Zion I that came out,

and jus checked your site... 2.5, dang.

still gotta check it out tho, altho now I'm less excited.

The reviews for that album have been all over the place, to be fair. Seems like a very polarizing effort.
I will say, Batty Boyz is really toungue-in-cheek from what I have read elsewhere.
I've read the same and agree to a point, but I still can't help feeling the way I do about it.

ok so I'm looking at that DJ noodles site and the Biggie mixtape.

what's great about it? coz I'm thinking to myself... do I really wanna listen to Akon?!?!

coz I hate Akon lol.

I'm not a fan of Akon either but if it has Biggie + DJ Noodles mixing things then it's worth a listen.

He has other Biggie and Jay-Z stuff like "Once Upon A Time In Brooklyn"

BIG (that's what it looks like but I don't see music on the page):

so that DOOM album, as a fan, is pretty dope to me. My only issue with it, this kind of album should be released every 9 months... not 3 years. It's short and that's fine, but DOOM could whip this up in 3 weeks.

It's good to be back! So I missed most of 2008-2009 hip-hop so I need a list of what I need to pickup. I did get to pick up some stuff and going to go through this thread and the old one for other suggestions.

P.S. Last thing I picked up that I am really feeling is K'NAAN - Troubadour.

Lord Finesse really dropped the ball on his disc in Muro's latest King Of Diggin'.

Muro's is what you would expect, pure awesomeness with some odd but great songs that make you want to hunt them down but Lord Finesse....yeesh.

Its a weak mix (especially for this series) when you can name about 80% of the songs without really trying as they are mostly songs that have been used as samples before in some classic hip hop songs. Its like he went for a dope listen but didn't do much of digging through his crates which wouldn't be that bad if it wasn't part of the King Of Diggin' series.

Muro's disc is worth the price of admission though. Its quite sick.

edit: oh and Kero One's new album is pretty fucking sweet. Its on par of Windmills Of The Soul. Can't wait to pick up my copy Tuesday

lol. nice to know. I remember listening to Diamond D's most recent album and was like wtf... this album has no motivation whatsoever. The beats arent even catchy, DITC needs to stop makin beats lol... unless record companies start paying sample clearance for them.

anyway listened to new MF Doom. yeay it's cool... but wasnt too impressed.

what did impress me was that Myka 9 album!! I listened to them back to back and Myka's was fantastic! shyt all over Doom!

also listened to...

yeah, that album is really fucking good. Have you had a chance to check out Dagha's album yet?

nah not yet. It's on my MP3 player which I only use like 2-3 times a week.

I'll expedite it once I finish up with Nicatyne.
