It's Bigger than "The Hip-Hop Thread"

RIP Eyedea.

werent E&A working on a comeback album too?? sucks man...

I needa go back and relisten to them coz I'm really not too familiar with their work

Wow... thanks for the heads up Jekki. R.I.P. indeed. I was a fan of him killing shit on the battle circuit. I had no idea he was THAT young until now. His mother is still awaiting autopsy reports but they are saying he died in his sleep.

The Hiero fitted is really nice actually. that picture doesnt do it any justice
it goes great with my leather jacket. :D

however, i ordered it a size smaller. 7 1/2 =/
i am waiting to return it.

i wish i could just sell it but i dont know where.

Cudi is another one of those new artists that I have a hard time getting into.

tho I needa give his new one a few more listens, coz I think I actually enjoyed it the one listen I gave it.

unlike the first Man on the Moon... gave it a number of spins and I really couldnt get into it...

I don't think I would give Kanye AOTY over Distant Relatives, but it is definitely a great album. I love it as an album, but I have a hard time picking out any standout songs to listen to other than "All Of The Lights", which has been stuck in my head all week.

I'm working on the J.Cole mixtape, hoping to get to listen to it tonight. I loved his two prior mixtapes and I'm looking very forward to this one.

I've never even heard of J Cole before but freakin everybody on neogaf is like "j Cole j Cole omg I want your baby!!"

I have The Warm Up on deck, but man I feel like I'm getting old o_O

I agree with Cudi being hard to get in to, both of his man on the moon discs have been kind of "meh". I think he was better on his mix tapes.

New Kanye is great.

Eminem, Kanye, and Big Boi are tied for my favorite album this year.

J. Cole mixtape is good.

Detox song leaked titled "Kush" featuring Snoop Dogg and Akon. Although Dre says it is a non completed version (again), it's still pretty good.

Apparently Ghostface Killah just announced dropping an album in early/mid December of this year and released a single that I have yet to hear.

Yelawolf's Trunk Muzik: 0-60 has a couple of good new songs on it, but essentially is at least still half of his previous mixtape. New ones are worth getting, don't get me wrong, I guess I was just expecting more new.

Dr Dre also released a final version of "Under Pressure", which I am very pleased with.

My top 5 albums this year in no order
Eminem, Kanye, The Roots, Wu massacre, Big Boi
Special shout out to E badu

Charles is still a walking L in real life but I gotta give him a little respect for battling (once again) in front of Serius' peanut gallery. The problem is he looks AND sounds absolutely hobo crazy in that motherf*cker. One of the YT comments said it best: "I hope he ain't back on heroine again."

...Seriously. (No pun intended)

Stick to music and stay as far away from the limelight as humanly possible. Either that or GET. SOME. GOD. DAMN. THERAPY. FIRST. There's nothing more disappointing than watching an artist you actually like continuously body themselves like this. Kid needs some help.

Could not get into Charles Hamilton after that J Dilla drama and getting bitchslapped by that girl. Got Serius Jones album a while ago and the song Warriors is a nice joint. January is right around the corner and I am eager to see everyone's best of 2010 lists.

On anther topic one album that I think that is not getting enough shine is Homeboy Sandman - The Good Sun. His flow is ridiculous and he has great topics on that one.

stuff I like:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1D3qGHx-PU

listening to both 7L/Es & Skyzoo/Illmind albums have been very good to me ^_^

relistened to Kid Cudi a few more times, I really do like it! He reminds me a lot of Buck 65 kinda, in the sense that he's weird and I only like half of his music.

Celph Titled & Buckild... I like it but not as much as I would hope to. I donno... in my opinion he doesnt really have the best chemistry to carry the entire album of throwback beats, but Im sure my opinion is in the minority.

yah I remember Emilio's Recession Proof mixtape was recommended here waaay earlier like last year.

Ill check out the new one!

Don't miss the no DJ version of his mixtape The Natural either. Dropped last year

This is a good step forward from Recession Proof. I got a bunch of his stuff and I would rank that as his weakest and in comparison his latest his best.

whooo~!! jus finished burning my christmas mix!! it's a beefy one!!

what a great way to end the year!!

then again, there's still more than a week left in 2010 that I could fit even more music in!!
Anybody listen to the new j. Cole mixtape? It's amazing.
Hellz yeah it's good!! Friday Night Lights is crazy. He's a pretty good producer also.

Still jonzin' on Black Milk's "AOTY" project too. Great album.

I just snagged the new Kweli. Haven't finished going through it but I'm just glad Jean Grae is on there.

Anything else coming soon that anyone has heard of that I should look out for?

Gutter Water was okay. Neither the lyricism or production was that memorable, which is dissapointing when you've got The Alchemist producing half of the album.

I quite enjoyed this double mixtape. The complimentary mixtape he put out a couple of days after has some good material on it too.

DJ Quik's new single is yummy.

Snoop Dogg's new single is probably the best he has put out in awhile. It actually sounds west coast and is reassuring of Doggumentary.

I found out about it maybe two weeks ago and listened to it twice since and I haven't had the slightest urge to listen it again until now. I'll give it another shot for sure.

I decided to check out that Death Is Silent album and am quite liking it, I'm a little more than half-way through.

With this in mind, I was hoping for a couple of album recommendations in the same vein as it and The Illz's previously mentioned The Pursuit LP. The more genuine, low-key style with introspective lyrics with minimalistic production. If CunninLynguists fits this criteria, I've already got them on my soon-to-be-acquired list.

have u heard Common's Resurrection? The one with I Used to Love H.E.R. It's an old classic that I am sure will fit that bill.

and yeay CL are amazing, but be aware their first 2 albums are VERY different from the stuff they started to put out afterwards. Their old style was much more playful and boom bappy, then they mellowed out but still continued to make quality stuff.

definitely check out A Piece of Strange, probably their best work.

-edit-

btw this week I listened to Talib Kweli's Quality.

for my first time ever o_O hella late lol

LOL @ Jekki. Quality was a solid album when it came out for sure. I still listen to it every now and again though mostly for 'Get High' and 'Stand To The Side'.

^I wasn't interested at first until I caught the stellar Jimmy Fail-on performance. Been checking out most of their shit today and so far the hype is well deserved.
