It's gonna be cold OTT tonight
why do you 2 insist on talking to each other threw the OTT. Aren't you living in the same house?
I wasn't necessarily talking to her.

I was talking to the OTT, even if it was directed at her. And guess what? We're not always in the same place/house/etc.

Now let's get along, li'l doggie.

I just spent the last few hours upgrading my parents PC with new RAM and a new DVD burner.

I also ordered a processor via eBay but it didn't work. According to the specs on the processor and HP's motherboard spec page it should have worked but didn't. :bomb:

At first I thought it may be the BIOS but when booted the computer would just sit there and I couldn't access anything. I was kind of bummed about it but I didn't pay much for the processor (I may try to send it back; if I can't it's no big deal) and got the rest of the upgrades for dirt cheap. Plus I have never tried to replace a processor before so it was a cool learning experience.

Oh, one thing I did notice - big cases are so much easier to work inside of than the small ones. I'll never hate on my big-ass Dell case again.

the funnay part is, we're sitting next to eachother. he's in the recliner, there's a side table then my chair. we're both a bit tipsy though. he's had 2 car bombs and a guiness and i've had 3 mudslides (give or take. they're home made and i have a heavy hand, especially when it comes to the vodka.)

I just mean in the past few OTT's it has been you two just talking back and forth for half the page.
Well, you're here now. Let's get this show on the road.
Public sex? :applause:

Replacing a processor sucks. I've done it on many a day. It used to be my job.

Man, pulling out the heatsink and getting the chip extracted... ugh. Stupid motherboard swaps.

And you're right... there's nothing more aggravating than a tight working space when you're trying to connect all the cables and such.

EDIT: fuck YEAH. MOTHERBOARDGET!

Is it tough taking off the processor? I just mean do you have to use a butter knife to pry it off? When I built my computer I used that artic chill glue stuff our whatever it is. SO if I ever change that processor is it going to be attached pretty good.

Do it while the comp's running, just to see what will happen.

/beenup24hrs,can'tholdanythingagainstme
(just in case the pulling it off while running thing isn't funny, which I'm pretty sure its not, oh well)
/been up 24 hrs, can't hold anything against me
i think legally it's 72 hours, but i'd have to look into it.

I don't plan on doing it anytime soon, got an AMD 3800+ Which is still good for awhile.
But if you're rich why do you have to charge me to go to your concert?
To be a jerk. :O

Don't processors click in and get held in place themselves or with a few screws?

Nah, it wasn't hard swapping (and then replaced again in my case) the processors. The hardest part was being able to maneuver enough inside the case to unhook cables and pull the motherboard out. Reattaching everything was an absolute bitch due to the cramped space and seemingly endless cables.

Everything is back together in their PC now, I'm not going into that hand-killing case unless it's absolutely necessary.

I don't think it is a glue, it is more of a paste. It's used to keep the heat down on the processor. Either way I would imagine that paste would eventually harden.

Did the ones you swapped though have that cooling paste?

Can't say I've ever seen a chip held in by a screw... usually it's some sort of clip... butter knife, ala ryles, could be detrimental to the chip and the mobo, cause if you break a pin of, god help you.
Finally got Vista Ultime up and running. Took way longer to install than I had thought it would. Looks real nice.
Did you cractivate it or are you just using it until the activation period is up?

Set the clock to 2099 for install. Than set it back to 2006. I got ~93 years left to activate.

God I love Rhino.

Just used their trade 2 get 1 free deal by taking advantage of cheap $9.99 games at EB that qualify... walked out with brand new copies of F.E.A.R 360 and Rainbox Six Vegas 360 for $45 out of pocket (combined total).

Luckily I just finished Marvel Ultimate Alliance this afternoon.

Can't wait to play Rainbow Six Vegas... from the demo alone it has the potential to be my favorite 360 game, more than even Gears of War.

That's one of the oldest tricks in the book, though... You'd be surprised by how many programs let you get away with that.

There have been too many good deals on PC stuff AR lately. I have like 150 now tied up in rebates because of all the deals that are too tempting to resist.

I felt compelled to talk about this since I just ordered one of those cheap ultra cases and it is going to be free AR (40) and ships for free.
gr...my douche brother has some friends over and I'm not getting any mucyh needed 360 time in.
awww. move the 360 to another room?
kayden - you've probably been asked this way too many times to count, but who's the kid in your avatar?
no clue... someone posted a gif of him and it made me laugh my ass off.... http://obabyrly.ytmnd.com/
awww. move the 360 to another room?
the problem is that they're using the 360.
The only I could get it was to go partway with the ungrateful bastards, so I can't just kick them off either :bomb:
hahaha the fun of buying a system with your bros. Aren't you in high school? why didnt you buy it yourself?
It would've been useless had I bought it myself anyways. I'm the eldest, so naturally, my parents are nicer to my younger siblings, and God forbid that I can have something they can't.
Things would've ended up the same way, and I don't have a TV in my room anyways, so I saved some cash for games/controllers/etc in CAG spirit. But there's no way it's not coming with me to college.
good luck taking it. so how did you guys pay for it? 50/50? or what?
I have 2 younger brothers, so I went half-way on the console with one of them.
The other bought three wireless controllers.
As for games, we buy what interests us. For example, the middle aged one like soccer, so he bought Fifa 07. While my youngest bro and I like soccer, we don't care to play it, so the middle one payed for it entirely. The youngest and I have similar interests like GoW and DOA4, so we split the cost on those.

As for taking it, I'm hoping they'll have lost interest in the next year and a half. It's still a novelty now, as we've had it for just over a week.
I may not even have to take it though. I'm probably going to go to UT@Austin, so I'll just stay home.

I just opened up my icemat siberia headset and it is amazing. Not only was the price cheap, but it is incredibly comfy and sounds great. Plus it can be used with regular audio devices as well as the PC.

I think buy.com has it for like 10 AR and google coupon if anyone is interested.

it's awesome having a domino's within quarter of a mile of your house when you're drunk. this way, you don't have to pay for delivery and you dont have to drive drunk.
Set the clock to 2099 for install. Than set it back to 2006. I got ~93 years left to activate.
Before I can do all that I need to swap out my DVD drive. Vista doesn't like the hacked firmware on my burner, and won't install from that drive.
