Oh, was that the store that CAG opened?

There's game stores around here, too, but they're called "Gamestop." The people there are usually annoying.

Gotta hankerin' to play dat Triple tonight. Maybe I'll lose some more in EOJ--I'm terrible at that game. Did the expansion come out yet?

Either that or I will end up playing Forza2 again.

Okay, and apart from my question regarding Ultimate Ghosts n Goblins, how long is RE Umbrella Chronicles? I'm thinking about tackling that tomorrow or Sunday...
Okay, and apart from my question regarding Ultimate Ghosts n Goblins, how long is RE Umbrella Chronicles? I'm thinking about tackling that tomorrow or Sunday...
I'm not sure...about four hours for a single playthrough? What is it, some 22 odd levels spread amonst four different characters or something like that?

But then there's unlockables, so I guess you could keep playing for that, too.

I gave up on the game myself and got rid of it.

I like rail shooters, though, so I might get House of Dead 2/3 if it drops to $19.99 or less.

Almost done, fun as hell game.
I've been playing Sega Superstars Tennis, which is great fun
Glad to hear you like Sega Superstars Tennis. I like the demo myself and very tempted to get the game soon.

Anyway, I'm about to play Warhawk with CAG members, so I'm excited. :D I also played Crisis Core today, and it was a ton of fun.

Today has been an interesting day. Hilary Clinton just visited a local restaurant a few hours ago (which is down the street from me), and there was a huge crowd of people waiting for her to arrive all day. Obama is suppose to arrive in my city too. Both democratic candidates (along with their supporters) have been all over my state for over a week. First time we ever had presidential candidates visit us.

So they are costing you guys money too? They want to hold another election because Hillary isn't getting the delegates she wants. So it will cost us more money that we don't have for those assholes who can't play by their rules.

I played some Crisis Core today. It was fun.

I think amazon still has those original sixxaxis for $44.99, no tax shipped free.

Unless your PnTs have DS3s?

In fact, cheapy posted amazon pre-orders for black DS3s for $49.99 a while back (currently $54.99). I canceled mine though since I'm getting the silver one from PA.

Got Ninja Gaiden DS.

Gotta say, it's a pretty OK game.

The prerendered graphics are a nice idea for the DS, but the backgrounds often get reused too often or just seem frozen or dull due to little to no animation. The controls are pretty neat at first, but so far I don't feel that trying to perform my moves accurately is that much better than just scribbling.

There's just not enough meat to the game for me.
what's yall's take on Ultimate Ghosts n' Goblins?
I personally hated it, too frustrating for a simple action/platformer...guess it's that "old-school" difficulty that gets me ;)

I'd say sell asap, you never know when it's gunna sell at Joe's VG store for less than $5 or something similar

Yeah, UGNG just seems like a shitty Castlevania... I hate the fact that you gotta replay the levels like a bunch to get those keys to open up the last part of the game, or whatever that annoyance was.

What's that fail directed towards...?
Me failing to see the fun in repeating levels until their done perfectly (ala most old-school games) or is it something else?

Finished a 2-hour TF2 session on my new server a few hours ago. It was a full house most of the time, but I don't think I seen many CAGs on there. It's always a blast to play with my Euro clan when they are not sober.

towards nothing. I just wanted to post that pic :)

I thought Ultimate Ghost'n Goblins was an awesome game and I like it way better than DXC. I personally find DXC broken and frustrating in some ways, but I'm going to stick with it. I personally feel UGnG is pretty smooth and one of the best in the series, but that's just me. Although, I still haven't finished it yet. :whistle2:(

I'm on the edge on whether I buy Brawl tomorrow. I really do need a new Wii game since I rarely play my Wii, but at the same time I'm just not a big SSB fan (not a bad series, I just greatly prefer traditional fighters like a Tekken, Guilty Gear, Soul Calibur, etc.). Now if I played Brawl and liked it, I'd just go ahead and get it. And I'm quite interested in Sega Superstars Tennis since I really like the demo and I cannot deny I love many of the characters the game has (like NiGHTs). I also want to get Sega Rally Revo since it dropped to $30 (PS3 version probably) and Wipeout Pulse is still pretty high on my radar. There's Patapon and GoW: CoO, but I kind of want to wait on them. I'm just debating what to get since I have coupons for Meijer.

Can't wait til Metal Gear Online beta! :)

And what's this rubbish about DXC being broken? WTF?

I've spent WAY too much time on DXC... playing it in preview form up until it's retail release... it's a wonderful game :)

I got the next GGT.

This! I like it better than the SNES one as well... though I have mad love for the second stage on the ghost ship. I had the music to that stage as a ringer for a long time. ^.^

I played UGnG early in the mornings before work for about 30 minutes a day... not sure how many times I beat it, but I love those type of games.

met up with Forte's group for the first time.

Right now I'm trying to play through a massive dungeon. In the main game I'm literally right in front of the final boss, but I really want to complete the dungeon so I can (BIG SPOILER IN TAGS)
Resurrect Claves

The Dungeon is horrible though. The last ten bosses or so I blew out of the water and then all of a sudden the random enemies in the dungeon can kill your whole party. Insanity.

I had a very fun and distracted game of RSV2 tonight. My uncle is in town and he was interrupting my play time.

Play it at a demo kiosk in a GS/EB tomorrow, you'll either hate the controls or hate the game itself...or even both, but then again maybe neither
wii/nunchuk combo btw, I didn't like the controls myself but you've got more controller options when you buy the game

Check your local Game Crazy stores or GameStop/EB Games!

I just preordered a few copies of MGS4 thaz all lol...

Did you guys see on eBay, Metal Gear Saga Vol. 1 is going for a good chunk...

1) Yeah, UGNG is going. Booorrring gameplay and level design. And the jumping mechanics are hella annoying.

2) MGS 1 is great. Really great. The last time I played through MGS1 was a few years ago with Twin Snakes, and good God, this is better. Feels far grittier, and it's nice having a soundtrack rather than a sampling of mediocre techno that Dennis Dyack pulled out of his ass. Apart from the cleaner graphics, Twin Snakes does literally nothing better... or even as well as the original.

3) The PS3 controller really kinda sucks... d-pad feels kinda weird compared to the PS2 controller, and the triggers are hella annoying because of how they stick out.

But yeah, I played through all of disc 1 tonight, and it was fuckin' great. Still luvz this game.

I need to watch my copy of MG Saga Vol. 1 again.

they changed the music in Twin Snakes? that sucks. I'm loving the music so far. I just beat the ninja. game is awesome.

how does it look on the PS3 upscaled and with all that fancy shit turned on?

I may actually get a PS3 this week. I might have a 60gb lined up for $300. If it works out, it'll come with a 2 year gamestop PRP. the system was bought new for $600 a year ago. score.

First time beating Ninja?

I envy you, I wish I could have the experience of playing MGS for the first time again.

Actually, I liked playing it when it was super revolutionary in '98.

I never got all the hate for Twin Snakes, and as I mentioned, I was someone who played the PS1 version a ridiculous amount.

There are some changes I didn't like, mostly having to do with the dialogue. Dropping accents, and changing lines. Removing Wolf's "love letter" line pissed me off. But for the most part I felt it was a good port. The graphics were nice, and I actually liked the music in TS. Mantis's new music especially was nice. As well as the Ninja's.

Hell, they even got rid of that annoying PAL card shit. Though you can do it the old-fashioned way if you want.

Fraaaaaakk. This update patch for Eye of Judgment is the slowest f'n patch I've encountered in a long time. It's been like 45 min and I'm only 43% complete.

grumble mumble grumble

Ah well, back to surfin' the Interwebz. At least I have pr0n to keep me amused.

I've just finished Chapter 6 in Dragon Sword. Really fun game with some great visuals and music, but there just doesn't seem like there's enough meat on it for me. I'm not saying im dissatisfied, I just don't think I'll get much replay out of it. I may beat it once more on a harder difficulty, but I doubt its something I'll hold onto very long.

I'm about 10 hours into Breath of Fire IV, and its a rather stale, linear game. But I haven't played an old school JRPG like this in a long time and so I am enjoying the mindlessness of it. No long CGI cutscenes. No long lines of text to read thru. No annoying voice actors. Just simple "go-from-town-to-dungeon-to-next-town" gameplay with alot of "do this NPC some stupid favor to advance the plot" storyline.

And what's this rubbish about DXC being broken? WTF?

I've spent WAY too much time on DXC... playing it in preview form up until it's retail release... it's a wonderful game :)
The difficulty is beyond crazy and its gameplay badly needs an update. The gameplay is okay for the 80's and early 90's, but it needed to be a bit smoother like in SotN, GBA Castlevania games, etc. I badly wanted the game and was pretty excited, but after playing it a few times, I've just about given up and it's sitting on my shelf collecting dust, but that's just me.
Play it at a demo kiosk in a GS/EB tomorrow, you'll either hate the controls or hate the game itself...or even both, but then again maybe neither
wii/nunchuk combo btw, I didn't like the controls myself but you've got more controller options when you buy the game
I went to two GS locations yesterday and didn't see it up. I'm more likely to use another controller option when I get the game.

My situation with Smash Bros. is that I hated it big time on N64. I only rented it on GC because I was on a Games Freedom Pass at Blockbuster (when the GC was out for less than a year) and ended up liking it more than I thought. I wasn't my favorite GC game, but I had some fun. I eventually waited to buy it at $20. Let's just say I enjoy it, but I'm not a big fan (Bomberman was my lead multi-player game on GC). I'm more likely to buy Mario Kart on Wii as my next week game, but I want to take a short wait and see on it (only because I didn't like Double Dash). Brawl could make me like SSB even more, but I just don't know.

I do have two concerns with Brawl though:
-I might never be able to play online because I rarely can get my Wii online with Verizon FiOS (I keep getting errors when connecting). I can usually get on at my apartment, but my internet is too secure (even if you open the DMZ, your NAT Type will be 3, since the connection is shared), and too slow most of the day (due to too many people downloading crap. Only fast in the middle of the night and early morning).
-Since Brawl is a dual-layered game, I'm a little unsure as to if my Wii will read it (I heard the few problems from Japan), since my Wii has given me some errors when reading discs (every game of mine has gotten one at least once), or sometimes a game is struggling to load (and the sound won't load). I'm debating about getting my Wii repaired, but I really can't do it until May at least, and I'm unsure when my Wii console was purchased (got it for Christmas).
1) Yeah, UGNG is going. Booorrring gameplay and level design. And the jumping mechanics are hella annoying.
I disagree because I found the gameplay quite interesting when switching the weapons. I found jumping pretty easy, but it does take a little time to get use to. It plays a little like Ghost'n Goblins, but a bit smoother (not Maximo smooth). I just find it to have some of the coolest level design, awesome bosses, and great soundtrack. Heck, I'm not even much of a GnG fan and loved it. I'm not trying to justify my purchase because I rented before I bought, really liked it, and eventually bought it when Fry's marked it down to $20.

3) The PS3 controller really kinda sucks... d-pad feels kinda weird compared to the PS2 controller, and the triggers are hella annoying because of how they stick out.
I don't really agree with you on the D-pad. It might just be your PS3 controller (because one of my PS1 controllers has a pretty bad D-pad and one of my 360 controllers has a worse D-pad than the other), because I tried play Guilty Gear and other 2D fighters on my PS3, and had a much easier time pulling off combos compared to the PS2 (my PS3 D-pad is raised a tad higher and feels more loose, not as tight as my PS2 d-pad).

Anyway, I played my Wii for the first time in a few weeks (my Wii is usually left home at my parents house since I can usually only bring two consoles back to my apartment) and played Guilty Gear XX: AC. Fun game and played through Arcade as Sol (although I normally play as Ky). I'm hoping my friend calls today, comes over and plays games with me.

4 hours for Umbrella Chronicles? It's like a 20 hour game, maybe fewer with coop. It's one of the reasons I don't think I'm gonna keep it. A long light gun game is novel at first, but replaying it? Nah.

Let's see... the graphics are... well, pretty much the same, but a bit sharper. I don't have smoothing turned on cause that tends to make stuff blur, but the game doesn't look bad, despite its age. I have tried it on an emulator before, though, and it can look damn good on one of those.

And yeah, get a 60gb. Backwards compatibility is fun. Just make sure it's not filled with dead bugs.

Well, here's the major thing: Basically, this game is trying to be Metal Slug - there's shit coming from everywhere and you gotta take it out because it'll kill you in one hit. The problem is that you have absolutely no precision in the control whatsoever. The jumping is completely retarded for a game produced after 1985, the double jump makes things even more of a mess, and while yeah, there's multiple weapons, you still don't have much in the way of attacking ability. Either you've got this dinky knife to throw (or a lance, I suppose), or you have something that has a stupid firing pattern that's typically useless. I'm not sure what's cool about the level design either, because it feels like your typical gothic settings, just with hands and shit that try to grab your character. There doesn't seem to be a whole lotta creativity behind 'em.

But yeah, I typically love Capcom's revivals. I mean, Mega Man Powered Up and Maverick Hunter X are two of my favorite PSP games... but this completely missed the mark. They were trying to be too faithful to a series that had questionable control mechanics, and they failed to modernize it at all.

I played about an hour of Brawl so far. It's okay. It has a different feel to it that I just can't explain, control-wise, I mean. I'm using a GC controller, by the way.

It took a minute to adjust, but now I'm seeing how it's actually quite amazing looking for a PS1 game. But that first hour or so was rough...almost went to Twin Snakes, but Mei Ling kept me going.

I'm kinda hoping the PS3 is filled with some dead bugs. yeah, I figure I can enjoy upscaled BC, Tekken online, and maybe some Sigma until MGS4 comes out, then cash in the PRP for a MGS4 PS3 + $100. swish.

That's the way t' do it.

And yeah, Mei Ling's voice was so racist in the original. I was offended and was glad they changed it for Twin Snakes to some generic white woman.

The bright dot in the middle is you, Snake. What a harlot.

I haven't played MGS in ages. I need to get on that shit. When it was released, my friends and I bought it immediately. We had it running on 3 TVs at my house all night long. We used to group game all the time. I remember playing Xenogears while they both played Ocarina of Time. Good times.

However, Ghost'n Goblins was always intended to have its controls and it really works well. I never once had a problem with jumping in UGnG, but oh well.

However, I could agree that Mega Man Maverick X and Mega Man Powered Up were much better at modernization, and they are two of my favorite PSP games.

Goddamn do I hate it when people just shit on threads and no one wants to hear their bullshit.

Super Mario 3 is awesome and I am playing it right now.

Well, within 5 hours of being here my Dad bought a PS3 and we've got Linux installed on it.

That thing's still the best Blu-Ray player around it seems, nevermind the computer/game system aspect of it.
