The wireless receiver works great and the 360 controller is perfect for ROMs.
How can a controller with a piece of shit D-pad be good for games that mostly use the D-pad?

if you have a hard time moving around with the 360 d-pad, you either suck at video games or have really disgusting fat hands.

never been a problem with mine, and I use the 360 d-pad on a daily basis for ROMs.

you must have fat fingers, fatty mcfatterson. :D theres no doubt about it that the d-pad sucks, its just not as bad as some people say it is. if you're that concerned with it, do that sandpaper mod so its not so stiff.

Yeah, I'm going to have to do that sooner or later.

Why are collector types so untrustworthy? I swear, every game I list on ebay, I get some mouth breather who asks me questions about stuff that's already answered in the listing, then asks for like 10 pictures of the game from every angle.
TF2 is also one of the only FPSs I have fun with online.
I think there are three types of FPS online experiences at the moment for 360 owners (only thing I can attest to). You've got your COD4/Halo 3 stuff, your TF2 stuff which deserves its own category and your Rainbow Six stuff (much slower/more tactical).

While I'm a fan of all three, I definitely gravitate to the TF2 and Rainbow Six stuff a bit more. Rainbow Six is definitely worth a shot online. When all else fails, Terrorist Hunt is one of my favorite multiplayer things ever.

Yeah, we play a lot of both vegas games in this house. Terrorist Hunts are surprisingly addicting. They are the randomly generated dungeons of the FPS genre.

Are they the type that uses all caps in their messages, and asks about shipping to Brazil or other dirty, South American countries? Coz that's all I seem to get.

This one's from Amazon, so he must be in the U.S.:
Hollo.I am now considering to buy a Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes GC game.
1.You say your item is with "No loose discs, no rips or tears in the cellophane" ,so is it a "BRAND NEW and UNOPENED" condition?
2.Could you send me some photos about your item?
(please at least including the clear big front and back detail pictures.)
3.And if I buy it from you then how will you ship the item?
4.Will ship it in the box or just using a bubble mailer?
5.Are there any Shipping insurance optional?
If you got this,I will expect for your responds to my e-mail. Thank you!!

HOLLO! Plenty of fair questions, but most of it is already in the description...

There are collectors and there are retards. I'd like to think of myself as the one on the left side.

whoops, I made it sound like I was talking about all collectors (then I'd be bashing myself!) I guess these guys would be a combo of the two.

Yeah, there's some strange fuckin' people who happen to be into gaming. I don't like that.

Some stuff I've gotten fairly recently:

I suddenly realized that I am bidding on a PSP item--and I don't have a PSP!!! Would you be willing to sell to the previous bidder and not me?

Thank you.
There was only that bidder, nobody else.

Dear chacranajxy,

HI THERE, I JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF ITEMS HAVE BEEN SHIPPED? THANKS
- attorney_from_mexico
This was asked a mere hour after he sent the payment.

Dear chacranajxy,

Hello,
Would you consider to ship this game to other countries, like Brazil? If yes, how much?
Thank you.
- iamtbbr
NO, fuck YOU

I haven't had any trouble with Amazon, but Ebay people are pretty dumb. I never allowed international shipping, but without fail got multiple questions a week about shipping to brazil or uzbekistan or some bullshit where i'm sure my merchandise would go without any type of reimbursment.

Hahaha, I understand where you're coming from...

Especially after reading that post. I hate analistics(not even a word, I don't think) like that... lolol. You should reply... "Yes I just opened it to check for you!"

 Yes! I'm doing that next time. I find these guys usually don't buy the game anyway (probably because I don't take the time to send 10 pictures taken with a macro lens that details the condition of the cellophane.)

The sad thing is, Ebay used to be this great thing where you could actually score some deals, sell things without problems, etc... and back then shipping was like $3 cheaper too. Now, Ebay's a shithole with lotsa korrupt foreigners and the USPS charges madd cash.

Sigh.

Amazon is the solution, my friend. $3.99 shipping on all videogame items, Store Format so you set your prices, and no paypal bullshittery. The fees are slightly higher, but I consider it worth it for the convenience, and things do sell for slightly higher on average than ebay.

It's all about either catching a buy-it-now the minute it goes up or buying things scheduled to end in the morning (this is more useful during the school year.) Items with spelling mistakes and stuff like that are good too, but super rare.

Amazon's the solution, eh? I'll have to look into it sometime. I really gotta sell the rest of the shit I have piled up in my closet right now, too.

But as far as the buying side of the equation goes... I dunno. Maybe it's just me, but deals seem harder to find and generally less "fun" to get in on than they were a few years back.

Also, on a gaming-related note, I'm lovin' Crisis Core. Still don't dig the slot reels all that much, and the dialog is pretty bad at times, but other than that it's fantastic.

eBay and Craig's List WERE great... sigh. I found so many deals there.

What were your crazy scores from those sites?

eBay:
- Sealed NES Legend of Zelda for $15 BIN. (Ended up selling it for $200 in 1999. I should have waited before the retro boom/Hot Topic phase lol).
- Complete Mega Man 6, Super C, and Bonk's Adventure for NES for $15 BIN. (At the time Bonk was commanding crazy auction ending prices upwards of the high $200s for a complete copy).
- Hori Real Arcade Tekken 3 PS1 Arcade Stick for $8 shipped. Good times.
- Secret of Mana SNES Complete, BIN $10.
- Devil Jin and True Ogre action figures, brand new/sealed for $4 shipped.

Craig's List:

- Sega Astro City 29 arcade cabinet, $23. lol.

amazon's decent. I find that I make about the same there as I do on ebay. Sometimes your stuff just sits there forever though (disadvantage of it not being an auction.) This is usually true of things that are definitely selling for less on ebay...so you might get a chance to be the only guy with a new copy of a game and you can set the price to something higher than ebay, but it probably won't sell. On the plus side, no listing fees. The other thing is that you have to wrestle people for the lowest price if you want stuff to sell quickly.

I think it evens out in the end.

Well I remember the first thing I got on Ebay was Last Bronx for the PC, because this was back when I thought that game was off tha chain... got it for a penny. I also got Contra III for a penny. I also got a sealed Super Castlevania IV for $12. and I remember getting some mad deals on the GBA Castlevanias.

Those were good times... now, I always worry that whatever I get from Ebay will be a Canadian version or destroyed or something.

I probably haven't made more than a half dozen online second-hand purchases (eBay and Half) so the only remotely good deal I could brag about was GrimGrimoire new/open for $28 shipped two days after it came out.

the only good deal i got was when i bought Lasker's Manual of Chess on Amazon for $5, and the person who sent it was using a $20 bill for a bookmark.

so yay, $15 profit!

I'm also on an MGS4 black out...what little I have read has been omfg amazing.
where can I watch this?
Kotaku, and out of the first 13 mins of the game you're actually playing for about 5 mins, thats the MGS I know and don't really like.

I joke of course it's just the intro.

The first 10 minutes of MGS4 doesn't reveal anything new.

It sort of just puts a few of the cutscenes/gameplay we have seen, in order.

I'm going to read/watch everything I can about it since I'm not buying a PS3 in the next year or two.

It's kinda fun being introduced to the MGS universe for the first time here. I think this evening before work I might boot up 2 and start it.

Played some GTA4. I find myself far more into the story than I thought I would be. Just got my first new apartment and I'm digging it. Hopefully I'm close to opening up the middle island. :)

I'm trying not to watch/read any more MGS4 related items. until after I play the game. I have the MGS4 LE pre-ordered and I just need a PS3 to play it before it comes out...

so are there any good europe-only games or game related things that are really awesome that never came out in the states? I have a friend going to london for a few weeks, and I'm not coming up with anything except Tingle's Rose Colored Rupee Land, which might be sorta fun.

Good timing, someone just posted this today:
What do they mean by Chrono Trigger?
I don't think it got a EU release.
What do they mean by Chrono Trigger?
He was basically saying that it doesn't matter what Europe has. They didn't get CT. And he's right...
oddly, I don't really look forward to NGII and have barely looked up anything on the game, but I know that when I pick it up I'll have a blast with it.
Same for me, pretty much. I saw the first trailer with all the crazy blood and was like "damn, that'll be awesome." But it doesn't feel like something that'll be out in a few weeks... I feel like it's years away still. But I know it'll be freakin' great.

Well, WiiWare FFCC is good times. Nice to have something a little more low-key after getting demolished by Rondo of Swords the last week.

I'm excited for NGII, but I've been excited for years for it. I want to finish FES, MGS4, and DDS2 before I get it. I have 2 weeks of nothing after finals and before work/lsat prep starts...I think I can do it. (well, besides MGS4, but I know I'll beat that shit in a weekend marathon anyway.)

edit: fuck! did they change the fusions around in FES?!
