Killzone 2 - Gen. Discussion & Info

The lag is strange especially with the shotgun. I've noticed a few times an opponent and I will shoot each other at the same time, but for some reason it will show me dying (flying in the air), and then he does like a split-second later, haha.

I've noticed it too.. it's weird but I just got used to it.

I'm wondering about the red X that will appear when you're shooting at someone online.. does that mean you're 'locked on' momentarily?

I just started playing this...played a little campaign and some MP. I have mixed feelings about this. The campaign seems like the same thing over and over. The MP was not really my cup of tea also. I prefer deathmatch, not the objective things they had me doing (although, I just jumped in....is there deathmatch?)

HOW LONG IS THE CAMPAIGN ALSO? approximately

I seriously think they should've made a mandatory install because I felt like it would have benefited so much from it. It froze on me twice when I was sprinting into a "loading" area! Anyone else's froze yet?

no it's an indicator that you're hitting the enemy. it's like the X in Call of Duty in MP if you've played. It helps you know you're bullets are hitting.

I beat it in 6 hours and you can just do team deathmatch, just go into Warzone and find a game that only plays bodycount.

I still plugging away at the campaign. My game clock says about 5.5 hours but I know I have played more. I guess dying doesn't count towards the game clock.

Overall, the single player is very solid. I'm not impressed with the multiplayer. I have been spoiled by COD so anything that isn't at least on par or close to COD is a no go for me.

I just received a medal entitled Valor Medal for being in the Top 6% tier for the week in online Warzone. Not only did I get a trophy for it, but I also have a black bar behind my 3-star rank.

The more I play the MP, the more I like it. I am actually okay at aiming! My longest kill streak is 7 kills, which is pretty in this game, since you always run out of ammo. Also, the SMG sucks.

Damn executioner, general already? :O.

Also what do you have to do to get the sentry's second ability? I can't figure it out :(

I also saw some weird stuff tonight that I didn't see before. Players have jets now in the game. :O. Also I saw turrents that shoot out like mortars. Insane.

What say you guys about the aiming, and how people are complaining about the "unrealism" of it?

i think its weak sometimes are great other times.

the turrets are piss poor weak which is good i guess cause then there would be 10 million posts on kz's website about how gg needs to pull there heads out and fix the turrets this and that.. I don't know.

I hate it in SP, love it in MP. The no auto aim made getting the
100 helmets off
trophy a pain in the ass. I don't even notice the no auto aim in MP though.

Tactician. I think.

Anyway, how the hell is it possible that some guy can survive three shotgun blasts to his back, turn around, and kill me? He ended up dying two minutes later when I wasn't anywhere near him, but sheesh. That was some horrible lag. It didn't even look like he was lagging since he wasn't jumping around or anything.

yeah ive been seeing some really really bad lag, and im wondering if its server side or client side. If it is me then I would like to find away to fix it.

Just finished Single Player!
It was really good, I enjoyed it a lot more than Halo 3. The final battle was friggen hard as crap though; and it was frustrating dieing than going back 10 minutes. Ugh... Satisfying killing that stupid guy though.

Why the hell could he Teleport?

This game definitely has the best graphics ever.

Insane.
Yeah, I played the shit out of MP as soon as I got it and leveled up to Sniper shortly after 1 day (I played with Trakan and zewone, which you may have noticed we all had huge ranks in that initial CAG Killzone night).

The mortar fire that you saw coming out of the turret was a defensive feature used only against the Air Support, I think. I have never personally seen them shoot those missiles at enemies, but I could be wrong.

The flying robotic AI you saw were the Tactician class' second ability (which you get after completing 8 matches with at least 5 turret kills).

Yea, there doesn't seem to be the noticeable jumping lag. I was playing matches yesterday where either me or the other guy was lagging and one of us would always die a full second after the other person died.

Bav, those were some fun matches today. Too bad some of the matches the odds weren't even fair. I wish there was a way to switch team in the middle of the game so the teams were even.

That's cool. Grats on the fast ranking. I'm like 12 hours in and Captain. I can't seem to get the badge for the engineer to work though. I swear my sentrys have killed more than five characters several times but no dice :(

I hated the controls when I first started. But now I love them. At the end I of SP I was doing really well.

Did anyone notice that when you are sniping you can aim with the motion control? It is really helpful, although it kind of throws you off.

Yeah, those were some damn fun games, Thongsy. I was actually considering not playing with you guys, since that first game I joined was insanely weighed in your team's favor. I still had a positive KDR though. Let's get some more games going soon.

On another note, fuck that JABRONI17 guy. Two rockets and three shotgun blasts to the face and he STILL lives?! :bomb:

Just beat the game as well, was actually a little shorter than I expected it to be. Control lag aside, it had some of the best presentation and immersion of any shooter. The tech behind the game is truly impressive.

It's really puzzling to me how people are saying the controls are really somewhat of a preference. In an FPS you want the most accuracy as you can get. That means the movement should mimic your intents on a control as closely as possible. Starting up movement .3 seconds after the pysical movement on the stick and ending movement .3 seconds after the physical stick movement is stopped is just an artificial way of making something difficult and awkward to control. Sure you can get used to it, but it's never optimal.

Tried some multiplayer, it didn't seem like anything special to me (Other than obviously being very pretty) so I might just end up sticking this game on ebay to get back a good chunk of value (Unless they announce they're working on a control lag tweak patch, which I doubt will happen).

You need to send that video straight to GG, so they can re-analyze the issue. I don't expect GG to ever to admit that any issue exists, however I would hope that they're working on a patch right now. I wonder if playing the game at a lower resolution would have any effect on the lag. I thought about playing around with that, but I don't fee like it. Oh yeah, I've put the sensitivity on the default setting... as I've gotten used to the controls. Also in single player, they need to add the option to crouching "hold" option. I hate it that when PS3 gets their "AAA" title, that its blemished (slightly) because of something silly.

Got one too except mine was for being in the top 1% (Valor Grand Cross)

Ya totally agree this game has movement lag.

Mouse lag is the worst. I played Far Cry 2 on my PC and there were some problems so I got some pretty bad mouse lag, and it was really annoying made you feel kind of sick and like you were not really in control.

Makes you feel like you are playing in bullet time but everyone else is going normal speed. Had no idea there was shooting lag to, totally get that. Everytime I would snipe right when I fire the guys head would move. And I swore I hit it perfectly in time... damn lag.

Hope they fix this!! We got to get a lot of people complaining though.

bastard!
Got one too except mine was for being in the top 1% (Valor Grand Cross)
But you suck?

So, I don't understand how that works.

The movement lag is likely due to the deferred rendering technique they use, to leverage the cell to get the amazing lighting. Just a guess, but I have read a fair bit of tech docs on deferred rendering, and I think that this is likely it. It was most likely a concious design decision by GG.

They might be able to tweak it better, but I would guess that it is likely a fact of life.

Actually, it tells you that in the campaign when you first get a sniper. Although, it doesn't tell you to aim with the motion controls, it says you should hold the controller still so your aim isn't shaky. Moving the controller for small adjustments, though, does seem to be helpful.

This game desperately needs some "Hardcore" modes. Increased bullet damage, 1 shot headshots, No radar and no respawn. I would pay for that DLC.

I don't even understand how the radar works. Sometimes, red dots just appear for no reason.
But you suck?

It is because all these medals are just based on how much you play.

The more time you have, the more likely you are to get it.

It already has 1 shot headshots, and the radar doesnt work right.

What more do you want?

Incorrect.

Tha Xecutioner, zewone, and myself all have more time put into the game than TheRock88 as well as better stats/points but he's ranked above us.

What are the complaints?
I've only played a couple games of bodycount.

My only complaint is that I suck and want to unlock better weapons.

The deadzone is leading to a .137 ms delay in the response of the analog sticks. Meaning that when you move your thumbstick to aim, it doesn't immediately react.

Some people say it is because the weapons are heavy, some say its GG's fault, some say the issue is non existent and others simply say to adapt.

Ha! This is my solitary issue with the game, as well. Maybe Guerrilla can get that fixed soon. :applause:
My apologies if its been asked/answered already but is there a list that shows the badges, weapons, and perks and how to unlock them?
This may not answer every question, but it's a lot of good info:
killzoneperks-noscale.jpg

If it's blurry/cut-off just right-click and select "view image".

Oh it's the dumb controller issue? I thought it was about actual problems.

Heard someone mention something about turrets not working correctly sometimes.

My first post in here, I am 3 missions into the campaign and am enjoying it quite a bit. This reminds me a ton of the Call of Duty series. I really am not a huge fan of the controls overall, I had to turn the default sensitivity up quite a bit. They are ok, I just feel they could be much more precise. The dialogue is this games biggest problem IMO. It is some of the worst I have ever heard in a videogame. I thought the Gears of War dialogue was the worst until I played this. It is so stupid it basically offends me at this point. I haven't had played online yet, want to finish the campaign first. But so far I am liking the game a lot despite its issues.

Increased bullet damage, no radar, no respawn. Did you read my post? Also Im not too sure about the 1 bullet headshots.
