Killzone 3 General Discussion & Info - Out NOW

its pretty tricky how theyre giving away unlock points for diff things but theyre set to make tons of money doing it.hell im even considering dling home to get some of them lol. im not excited for the game but i would like to see how they improve the sp campaign from 2. and mp was fun in the beta especially using those mechs. will that be the only type of mech in the final game or will there be diff types?

That's pretty much how it was for killzone 2 most of the time for me. x:

KZ3 single player demo coming in February

Killzone 3. The Jetpacks. The Brutal Melee. The PlayStation Move. The 3D!
Ever wanted to get your hands on the action? Killzone 3 may not be out until 02.22.11, but we’re giving you a chance to hop into the “Icy Incursion” level that takes place halfway through the campaign.
 • February 15th is the day that Killzone 3’s Single Player demo hits the PlayStation Store.
 • PlayStation Plus members will be able to download the demo on February 8th!
There will be two separate downloads available from the PlayStation Store: one in 2D and one in 3D. Both versions will take place on the “Icy Incursion” level. Don’t worry – downloading the 3D version and playing it on your 2D TV won’t break anything … you’ll just see a message saying “No 3D TV detected.” The 2D version has splitscreen coop as well, a feature not available in the 3D demo.

All PlayStation Plus subscribers who have automatic downloads enabled will receive the 2D single player demo of Guerrilla Games’ upcoming blockbuster. As a reminder, PlayStation Plus subscribers can turn on the Automatic Download feature under “System Settings” on the XMB. This feature will update your PS3 with firmware updates, patches to recently played games and other select videos or game demos.

These demos will be PlayStation Move enabled, giving gamers a chance to experience Killzone 3 with the most immersive controls. When you get your hands on the demo, be sure to try out one of my favorite new mechanics, the Brutal Melee attacks! Get close to your enemy and hit the melee button (or thrust your PlayStation Move motion controller at the screen).

The aiming and movement mechanics have been tightened since Killzone 2. Play around with it and let us know what you think!

Stay tuned to the blog as we give out more details on the upcoming multiplayer Open Beta. While you wait, bone up with this full list of weapons to get a day-one edge.

I heard that online matches will separate the Move users from the DS3 users? Is this true? I don't really care one way or another, just find this odd...

I think they thought about doing this but then decided against it. So, no (last I heard).

Oh good, that would be a nightmare for Move users

Does anyone know where to get the rifle attachment shown on the back of the Helghast Edition?

Oh wow... Well, I don't care what will happen with the online matches, but it seems that the Move controllers are dead on for KZ3, which is awesome :)

Just finished the Home Killzone 3 stuff. Overall it's not very difficult and takes about an hour. After all of the challenges are completed you are giving a DLC code that can be redeemed right away to give you 3 unlock points in KZ3.

Good to know. Just have to reinstall Home. :bomb:

I'm pretty excited for this beta, I was planning on buying the game at launch anyways but it's always good to play demos/betas beforehand. Killzone 2 had the best MP of any PS3 game I've played so far.

I never played Killzone 1 or 2. How popular was the Killzone 2 MP? Is it still used today. I'm asking because I'm thinking about getting KZ3 but I might wait until it hits $20 if the MP dies because of other certain FPS...
I'm really tired of COD. I still play it only becuase MAG isn't as fun as it used to be.

KZ2 still has a pretty huge player base. You should never have problems getting into a match. I think KZ3 is going to be fairly huge as far as PS3 stuff goes... most people I know are getting it and are super jazzed. JUMP IN EARLY!

Yeah thats why I am so excited. I dropped a little over 110 hours into KZ2, which is a lot for me.

It does? I was on about a month ago and could only find one game going.

its random. im assuming they have a list of everyone who played that day (not considering on amount of time spent) and just picking 20 each day.

http://www.killzone.com/kz3/en_GB/blog/features/2011-02-02_retro-pack.html

The two KZ2 maps included in the retro map pack are Salamun Market and Blood Gracht.
As we announced back in November of last year, the Retro Pack is available as part of the Collector’s and Helghast Editions of Killzone 3, or as a pre-order bonus for the standard edition (through participating retailers). It consists of two classic Killzone 2 multiplayer maps, thoroughly updated and reworked for Killzone 3’s multiplayer mode.

These are the two maps included with the Retro Pack:

SALAMUN MARKET
Game Type: Warzone (24 Players)
Description:
One of the largest maps from Killzone 2, Salamun Market has been re-balanced for maximum Killzone 3 carnage. After the Helghast ambush an ISA convoy on its main road, the whole market becomes a Warzone. Nostalgia meets brand-new Exoskeleton combat on this classic multiplayer map!

BLOOD GRACHT
Game Type: Guerrilla Warfare (16 Players)
Description:
Months after the nuclear blast that ruined most of the city, Blood Gracht is slowly being reclaimed by Helghan’s strange plant life. But when Guerrilla Warfare breaks out between ISA and Helghast troops, the canals once again run red with blood. The fan-favorite multiplayer map from Killzone 2 makes a triumphant return!
what is being released on 2/15 then?

I swear I thought the beta was live yesterday then I read it was pushed to a week prior to launch...

Well I better try to download it tonight, but I bet its slammed.

The KZ3 MP "beta" was pushed back a day. It's available right now in the Euro store. It's scheduled to go up in the US Store at 1PM Eastern today.

The single player demo is releasing on Feb 8th for PS+ subscribers and Feb 15 for everyone else.

Edit: Updated OP and thread title to hopefully clear up some confusion.
Reviews have started dropping... IGN hits it with an 8.5 (really hard on the story) and Destructoid hits it with a 10.
A lot of places are docking points for the story. Also Kotaku said they are not releasing their review of Killzone 3 until they get the retail copy, because they want to see if Guerrilla have fixed some bugs in the current review code release.

Beta is out in the US PSN store, I had to search for it though. Also, sorry to go off topic, but, should I get Killzone 2 to understand the story? Or just wait for 3? I can get Killzone 2 from Sonly RLS, thats why I was wondering if I should get it or not.

gonna download the beta on a few
:D

anyone getting the helghast edition?

if so, how big would you think that helmet is going to be?
The figure is 6.5 or so inches but it is not fit to scale

i am just worry about the size since everywhere i go, i can not find the size for the helmet.

Downloading it too! I love being able to remote play into my PS3 from my computer :D

I'm going to try to set up a CAG clan for the open beta so people can find each other easily.

Never finished kz2 myself. Didn't find it all that compelling. But then again, it is a shooter.

These days, though can always just find a wiki our something for game stories.
Is the release date still 2/22? Seems kind of early to be seeing all these reviews...
It's not that early. Generally, first party AAA titles get reviewed a bit early to generate hype. 20 days or so is a bit earlier then the normal, but it's not that weird. I'm betting Sony thought they'd get 10/10 on this title and wanted to generate a lot of hype.

Reading some of the Move impressions on GAF, etc has me psyched! Can't wait to try it out. Ughhh, why do I have to work so late today?

Awesome. Just finished 1st 2 times in a row on warzone. Would have been 3 but my friend got more kills.

There is only 1 map? Either way game is awesome. Can't wait till 2/22!
