Killzone 3 General Discussion & Info - Out NOW

After playing about a dozen or so team deathmatches, wow. This game is something else. It is alot of fun. I never played a Killzone game before but these guys are definately not bullet sponges. One hit kills with the shotgun for me.

One complain I have, probably from it being a beta version, when you kill someone, there is a split second between the kill and the game saying you got the kill (showing 100). That split second is very annoying, but not enough to make me stop :)

I'm going to try the other games in the beta later tonight. Hopefully they will all be fun too. I'm on the good side right now as far as getting this day one since I have a reward zone coupon.

I think it's complete fucking bullshit that one of the two reviews that gave the game a 7/10 didn't play multiplayer at all. What a crock of shit review

Also, does anyone else hate the new menus? What the hell were they thinking with that weird red look? It feels like we're looking through a Predator's visor or something (Helghan visor I guess). Terrible. I hope they change it back to the menus we had for the private beta

this game is a big step up from kz2 but having finally played kz2 im doing better in this beta compared to the last. i might just get this instead of mvc3.

I'm more getting more fond of Operation, its like a very short version of BF: BC2's rush mode. Always nice to see my SN displayed in the cinematics.

Joystiq does terrible reviews. The heading for the review is "third time's a charm", hinting that the game could be a 5/5. Then you see the score, and it's a 3.5.

No, Third Time's a HARM... get it?

Only played deathmatch so far. Super fun. What is the objectives in the other modes? Bout to try them out!

Yeah, you're right. I can't believe I read that wrong. I blame no sleep.

Still, my statement still stands. Joystiq writes terrible reviews.

Dang, got it one game but the Move controller was acting crazy (kept spinning in circles). I had to quit and recalibrate at the XMB. I started it up again and got in a game and it worked fine. Now it looks like the servers are down! :bomb:

I had similar problems. Gotta just suffer through - it is worth it.

Played earlier in the day and I'm happy they didn't change my ol' reliable LMG. I was mowing fools down just like in KZ2.

I'm looking forward to playing with some CAGs.

Hmmm.. am I going to have to bite the bullet and get a move for this game?

*Just put my Driving Force GT on eBay to help cover costs...

Got to try operations out later.

I could tell they change the movement of the guns. Not as weighty as before. I almost turned the sensitivity down to try and get it back but I'm going get used to default for now.

And the movement of the grunts themselves seems to be faster. Picking off targets with the old rifle is a little harder to do. Could sort of fudge the shot and get it in the general area as whoever you were shooting at wouldn't be very far off your mark.

Now they move like speed racer! :) It isn't THAT BAD but I can differently tell they upped those two things.

And did they take out the sixaxis support from the rifle out? That was in KZ2 right?

>>Oh and I didn't see the graphical update at first. It looked just like how I remembered KZ2. If I had walked in the room and someone was playing I would think it was KZ2. Had to pay attention to the details to catch the new stuff.

Operations cut scenes are nice, but when it said it would show the highlights of the best players I figured it would just show like a 10 second clip of the best mowing people down...but it's just the same cutscenes with different names.

Still, this game is awesome. How do you change the sensitivity? In controls? All I saw there was changing the control scheme.

nampaehc - after you left, i started getting better and eventually got #1s for four consecutive games. i can't believe how little amno the medic has!!!

for the longest time, i couldnt figure out how to activate the medic's revive. i thought that they disabled it for the beta. i found out way later that you have to literally on top of your dying friend.

same old kz BS - my team pushed the other team back at the first spawn. then spawn camp the entire warzone match. in another match, i found out that i could it myself with medi droids and maxed sentries. a lot of the old kz2 strategies work for kz3.

for those of you who like operations, you need to try bfbc2's rush mode. its probably where they got it from.

a couple of hours in and im level 14 or 15 with 62k xp. the kills add up when you unlock the turrets or the droids. the melees have incredible reach. its like if you're close enough, go for it. i'll try with the move tomorrow. i wonder if they kept the no recoiling up on the smg with the move vs ds3. im already bored of the demo. i dont know if i want kz3 release day. i have 2 moves sets and ordered 2 sharpershooters (eek!). what to do.

Once you reach SGT, you get a perk for more ammo when you spawn (prime + secondary).

True. I've unlocked all of the Saboteur's weapons/perks and I consistently go 30-5 just running + spamming R3 in Bodycount or Operations. Its the only entertainment in the game for me because its either that or spawn raping the other team. If you have a team that can coordinate well, you can "force spawn" the enemies into a specific area consistently.

Yeah it feels like Killzone 2.5. I wasn't blown away by what I played... But then again... I was just complaining about how Resistance 3 is to different for me. And here we have "more of the same" and I'm having issues?!

I guess you can get bored with one map easily. But there will be more in the full game. And then there a plenty of unlocks to go through since all the classes seem to share the same points. That could take a while if you plan to unlock even just the basic gear you want to use for different situations.

Problem with that is that if you're like me, you'll basically only want to pump all your points into one class. So when you're done with that- then what?

As far as tactics, they did try to change things some what. Like the tactical spawn points are no longer mobile. The problem I had was when you spot the other team using one, there was no other way (that I found) to take it back from them other then change to the tactician class.

And I'm a little bummed about the scan and mark not being part of the class with the sniper rifle any more.

I enjoyed what little bit I actually got to play yesterday. I could only connect to one online game so I spent most of the time in botzone. The map in the beta is actually decent. I like it better than the ones from the closed beta.

Move controls felt good when I killed someone but I had to spend some time adjusting the sensitivity settings. Still, even after awhile I never got real comfortable and just ended up switching to the DS3. It's going to take some time to get used to it for me. I wonder if that ridiculous gun attachment would help.

Also, after playing BFBC2, it feels weird to not be able to turn around and shoot when arming charges.
Is there any way to zoom in while shooting?
You mean like iron sights? It's possible with Move and the DS3. I use the alternate layout so it's L1.

Was the spawning system in this similar to KZ2?

If so...I personally think it's balls. Why would you have fixed spawn points where the enemy knows exactly the locations of where you can spawn.

Other than that, game is pretty fun. There's some definite balance issues if you ask me, the 1-hit melee is a bit too magnetic, it takes about 1 or 2 too many bullets to kill someone (could be lag-related?) and the spawn turrets are in too deep into the respective ISA and Helghast default spawns to deter spawn camping. But overall, I had a lot of fun.

Meh. It's alright. Enemies take far too many bullets to die. No reason why 3 shots to the neck/head area shouldn't drop something. Other than that, the controls are rather sluggish. I understand there's a weight to things but this honestly just feels sluggish. Oh well.

I think it feels perfect. Far more weighty and immersive than CoD but much more responsive than KZ2. I think they hit the mark in that area. Gonna miss you in the game, syn!
i take it syngamer never play kz2?
Last time I played KZ was #1 on the PS2...and I wasn't all that impressed :(

EDIT: to my credit I was going about 1.5:1 for my K/D...so I don't suck, just not my feel I guess.

They had smoke grenades that you could use to spawn teammates where ever you dropped them before (2 per map at one time).

Maybe some of you were not in the proper firing range for the gun you were using because bullets seem to kill pretty easily for me. One thing i hate is one hit melee kills. I cannot stress how gay they are but at least you can't do them from 10 yards away like in MW2.(modern turdfare 2) I also hate the fact that people are just sitting right next to there tv with a move and pulling off easy headshots. Another thing is the beginner marksman gun is either not carrying a sniper, or that is one of the worst snipers i have ever seen. I was thinking of getting this but honestly I would rather get, mass effect 2, heavy rain, or even Africa. That mode that is supposed to show highlights of top players doesn't even show highlights from them, super lame and the map they gave us is lame too. Only cool thing I really saw was that little medic bot that flys around with experienced medics.

While I chose to go medic... and LOVE my maxed medic along with my mech bots.... my biggest issue with them is the fact that they kill me if someone shots it and it explodes on my face. Hate that.

That also seems strange. The spawns should be random, with the mortar strikes being placed in highly populated choke points to make it more difficult to reach them and make the risk vs. reward more tangible.

Currently the spawn system is a POS. I can't tell you how many people I killed last night because they kept spawning at the middle spawn because it was the only other spawn the team had.

Conversely, I can't tell you how many times I got killed at the ISA default spawn because it was the ONLY spawn we had.

That is because it is not a true sniper class. I frowned when I saw that gun was going to be there online. I didn't know it had a scope though. It is fairly powerful just like in kz2 and I like it. Thing in kz2 was the sights weren't great. I was mid range with this and getting headshots. You can pop off a couple of quick shots too and do real damage.

I think marksman is a class where you can move around and do important things to help your team. Have to be careful with your shots.

Now the shotty pistol, that I have an issue with.
melee is way too over powered in this game
what does that even mean? If someone melees you regardless of the game, you're likely going to die. That's how it's been in every FPS game I've played. What exactly are you expecting?

R3?

You changed the control setup?

Yeah I will check into that. I played about 1 1/2 hours last night just getting my bearings.

Went to a buddy's on lunch and played one at his house before handing him the control to try it out...

So I have not had a ton of time with it yet.

I played with the move and it sucked badly. Anyone else try and play with it? Definitely is a disadvantage to the DS3, for me at least.

Just a heads up, I pre-ordered this on Amazon and release date delivery was only 99 cents for me (no Prime membership or anything else).
Wonder if i should finally buy a navigation for my MOVE. Its hard to hold a DS3 while aiming with the move lol.

LOVE THE GAME.
You really should, dude. Feels a million times better.
