King of the Hill Not Renewed by FOX
I didn't care for it.

How can a show like this last for 13 seasons if it's obvious that so many people didn't care for it? Maybe someone can prove me wrong with some ratings numbers or something, but I don't personally know anyone who really liked the show.
Isn't it kind of obvious that if it made it to 13 seasons that a lot of people like the show? Just because a few here, including you, don't like the show, it doesn't mean nobody watches it.

A quick look at Wikipedia says it regularly beat out the Simpsons its few seasons and helped out the X-Files' numbers, as well. It was supposed to be over after season 10, but strong ratings in the episodes that weren't preempted by football, since it was put in the dreaded Futurama time slot at that time, forced them to renew it for a few more seasons.

I really enjoy this show. It's too bad it got canceled, but I was expecting it to be canceled this season or next. 13 seasons is a good run.

This is bullshit. American Dad that hasn't been good since...well ever get renewed and a good show gets the axe? Typical Fox. Shit, Arrested Development got a some what proper send off. fuck you Fox.

A truncated third season was hardly a good send off for Arrested Development.

Like I said, some what proper. Not good, but at least there was an end. As it stands, King of the Hill doesn't get this.

ok let me say I will honestly miss KoTH. It was decent at first, then stupid, and now it seems to have come back as decent. but that how it is with all shows that run for extended periods of time.

-the simpsons right now is back to where it use to be in my opinion, not amazing but very watchable.
-family guy really is just as random as south park says it is, and it has gone down since they brought it back to FOX
-american dad is really hit or miss. sometimes i can watch it, other times it sits on dvr for weeks at a time before i can watch it.

and just to add south park. the show has remained consistent throughout, it is just that show is different because more so than the other shows, your personal level of maturity greatly affects how you enjoy that show.
BTW... I hear there will be no proper sendoff for the show... I hope all you Seth MacFarlane fanatics enjoy the Cleveland spinoff which Im sure will fill the slot... which will probably lead to more insanely drawn out jokes and gags on Family Guy (I liked this show before it was cancelled the first time... but he has so much shit going on when it returned, the episodes havent been as good)
I think two season's ago's ending was the send-off. Launne got married, Bobby and Peggy excort her to her home, and the guys stand in the alley drinking beer. Almost all the characters were at the event too, and in typical fashion, a comedy ended in a wedding. Then it got renewed again and such.

I wish the continuity hadn't been disturbed so much, Bobby would probably be in high school by now and Laune would have given birth a while ago, but 13 seasons is a good run. I just feel Fox didn't give one of their highlight cartoons of over a decade a true, proper, notice that it's leaving. Sucks =/.
Family Guy's sole purpose nowadays seems to be to create memes and think of more stupid shit they can. They stopped including anything resembling a story or good humor, like the show where Peter sings some stupid song over and over again.
The worst part is that even if you don't watch the show, there are people who think Family Guy is getting better and better and you can bet that they will talk about some stupid episode again and again. I would watch an episode to confirm a lack of storyline but I am afraid a large portion of my brain will die.

I'll miss King of the Hill. I thought it was consistently pretty funny. Thirteen years is a great run, though. I haven't seen every episode, so there's a nice library. American Dad and Family Guy, on the other hand, suck ass.

Futurama is one of my favorite shows ever.

King of the Hill is picked up by Adult Swim(sort of):

"King of the Hill" has found a new home on cable.

Adult Swim has snapped up exclusive cable rerun rights to the animated series, which recently was canceled by Fox after 13 seasons. Although ABC has expressed interest in reviving the show, Adult Swim said it has no plans to order new episodes of the series from producer 20th Century Fox TV.

However, it's worth noting that the late-night network played a part in bringing animated series "Family Guy" back to life on Fox after the network canceled it -- for a second time -- in 2002. Based on solid performances for repeats on Adult Swim as well as strong DVD sales, Fox was encouraged enough to resurrect the series in 2005.

Adult Swim, the late-night sibling of Cartoon Network, also said that it will be expanding its programming by an hour starting in January. The network currently airs from 11 p.m.-6 a.m. Monday-Saturday and 10 p.m.-6 a.m. Sunday but will begin broadcasting at 10 p.m. seven days a week.

To kick off the new hour, "King" will air at 10 p.m. nightly starting in January. Adult Swim's multiyear deal includes all episodes of the series.

FX currently airs "King" repeats, but its deal with distributor Twentieth TV ends in December.

Oh well. I absolutely love King of the Hill, but I've found that idiots don't give it a chance because they consider it nothing but redneck humor.

It has lasted a good long while and given me far more laughs than almost any other animated show ever. Simpsons comes close, but the more I watch KoTH, the more I see it being on an entirely different (and higher) level. Probably because it's remained far more consistent as it has aged.

Fox won't give me seasons past 6, though, so fuck 'em. I'm sure they've done all they can to drown this show in a mired state, but I can't deny that they've let me have 13 seasons worth of almost constant pure gold.

Adult Swim actually doing a smart thing? Wow. I mean I know they gave Home Movies a second home for a while and all, but actually doing something....smart? How much longer until Hell runs out of propane?

i'm just gonna put this out there. FOX SUCKS THEY CANCEL EVERYTHING. yeah this show has been on for awhile but a lot of my friends love this show, so they should re new it it's evil. THEY NEVER GIVE SHOWS A CHANCE (you should know what i mean almost ever new show in the fall gets canceled)
and arrested development they took off cause it wasn't getting good views but it got so many awards and everyone loved it....hate fox

Come on it has had 13 years of life already. Time to move on people. How about some new serious/humor cartoons for a change.

For all the hate Fox gets about canceling shows, they actually gave them a chance. Other networks can pick them up but don't since they do poor in the rating. Fox on the other hand tries out shows that might be different instead of the standard Hospital or Cop drama, or sitcom. 13 years is a great run for any show, eventually everything has to come to an end.

Amazing how one show inspired such love on one side... and hate on the other... the show did take a little while to grow on me... the first couple of seasons pale in comparison to some of the later seasons (show really started picking up once they changed Dale's demeanor into the crazy person he is currently on the show, early seasons he was a more monotone bore)... every one of the characters on the show have their little quirks that make this show the classic it is/was.

I really hope ABC picks it up... There is more to this than so called redneck humor... it is one of those shows that grows on you the more you watch it, I got hooked from watching reruns on FX when I go to bed and have seen every episode of the series...

You know its sad to see KOTH ending. I never got into the show myself but I know a few people who love the show and are saddened by this. However keep in mind that KOTH did last much longer than many shows that Fox axed far sooner. Hopefully at least you KOTH fans will get some kind of closure to the series. At least us Millennium fans got one via an X-Files episode (even if it sucked).

As far as Family Guy is concerned I feel that its best days are far behind. The show to me hit its creative peak during the third season right before it got axed. I remember watching those episodes on the Volume 2 set feeling kicked in the gut when I finished the third disc wishing that the show was still on at the time. Now... I just wish the show never came back.

There was never an true finale filmed according to articles on King of the Hill... and I feel the exact same way about Family Guy... before the original cancellation MacFarlane was only working on that...he comes back, now he's got American Dad as well... now another show, as well as direct to dvd movies etc... the quality suffered as simple jokes got drawn out much longer than normal

Just watched the KOTH episode last night where Hank has the dream about grilling burgers in the nude with Dale's wife...hilarious... and Hank's naked ass always gets a laugh out of me

Of course it doesn't help matters when IIRC since the show came back its been a different writing staff than who was around during the early years. Of course I suspect that some of the changes done to the show was due to "market research" by Fox which probably told them that people wanted "simple jokes drawn out longer than normal."

OK... people need to calm down... the show was on THIRTEEN years... I could give you 20 shows canceled after one season that "didn't get a fair shot"... 13 years is impressive, you want the show to stay on forever?

Well, then you may be in luck... ABC is in discussions to pick up new episodes of King of the Hill as a show that would air before Judge's new cartoon "The Goode Family"... they think it would be a good and recognizable lead-in. We shall see.

I don't understand all of the hate for Family Guy... yeah the shows plots are pretty much not there, but I laugh at the show... they have two things going for them.

A) tons of pop-culture references, which you can never run out of, and which I find funny
B) they really don't have a bar at which they won't go over... some of the shit they say on there I don't laugh, I just straight up yell "WOW"

But if you are looking for plot and real jokes, the show isn't for you. Obviously it's for a lot of people since it was canceled and brought back after amazing DVD sales... the same which can't be said for Futurama... which I find better than ALL the cartoon shows.
How else were they gonna fund all of those Macfarlane cartoons?
LOL, when I first read that I was like, "Todd McFarlane is making shows for Fox? Awesome!" Just shows how far away Family Guy has moved away from my consciousness.

And propane accessories. Don't ever forget those. That's where most of your profits are made.

Damn shame, I would rather them cancel American Dad and keep King of the Hill on.

I want a Simpsons, Futurama, King of the Hill and Family Guy animation block, damn it.
And propane accessories. Don't ever forget those. That's where most of your profits are made.
Now that's a clean burnin' Hell, I tell ya what.

Dale> That school is impregnable! CANNOT be pregnated! ... Except, by me. But I don't come cheap.
Bobby> I don't have much money.
Dale> FINE I'll come cheap! You got five bucks?
Bobby> I can get four.
Dale> I'm in.

HANK: You brought charcoal into my house!
PEGGY: I didn't know what it was! Luanne asked me to hold it for her! I thought it was drugs!
HANK: There's soot under my boy's nails! You don't get that from a clean-burning fuel.
BOBBY: You don't get the rich smoky flavor either.
HANK: Shut your mouth! Now, we're going to sit here and pray.

Dale> In addition to being an exterminator, I am also a licensed bounty hunter. My other card.
(Dale hands a business card to Hank)
Dale> Tell me I sentcha - you'll get 10% off!

Anyone else *besides* me thought that this show went off the air in like 2001 and its just been re-runs in the afternoons since then? :D

The problem with this show is that after awhile, making fun of rednecks gets stale.....like the simpsons did....10 years ago.

Family Guy? I go from "enjoying" the show to flat out "hating" the show...there have been moments of brilliance in this show, but its *so* crass that after awhile i feel stoopider having watched a few episodes.

Nothing beats Venture Brothers.

The show isnt all about rednecks... and I think this show does/did a good job in keeping the stories original, there are episodes I dont like watching repeatedly, then there are some that get funnier and funnier each time

HANK: The only woman I'm pimping from now on is Sweet Lady Propane. And I'm tricking her out all over this town.

Just you wait. Someday, you'll see a grossly fat man fighting a giant chicken and all the COOL people will know to attribute the conflict to a bad coupon. Then you'll be sorry you didn't pay more attention.

HANK: The only woman I'm pimping from now on is Sweet Lady Propane. And I'm tricking her out all over this town.
Alabaster!

No one thinks you are a pimp, Hank. But if you were a pimp....you'd be the coolest....nicest....most awesome pimp there ever was.
Meh. It was sort of funny but Bobby was the only semi-likable character.
I personally find Hank to be one of the more likeable characters in recent cartoons.

Bobby was the most annoying character on earth.....I guess I don't find fat, pathetic losers with a heart of gold to be all that "interesting" to watch.

Hank was probably the only one I'd consider likable because of his witty lines.....and Boomhauer ;) But Dale, etc...they just played those guys out. Kahn was also amusing in that abrasive way :D

But overall I realy did think the show went off the air years ago.....while amusing, I found the show to be...I dunno..dull, like "TV of Last Resort".

Some episodes were funny, but only because I know a few folks in Texas and.....well lets just say the stereotypes can apply :)

Bobby was ok. Peggy was annoying though and I really really really hated her.

Hank was the best character out of the family, but overall Dale was the most entertaining.

I thought the show was too slow paced for me but I did find it amusing at times. It's not one of my favorite shows but its a lot better than the usual crap on TV (Cough* Reality Shows *Cough*)
Bobby was ok. Peggy was annoying though and I really really really hated her.

Hank was the best character out of the family, but overall Dale was the most entertaining.
But Peggy was supposed to be annoying and very conceited... like the time she entered the Mrs. Arlen beauty pageant... basically thinking she was going to walk away easily with the trophy and truck... the only other person who thought she might have a chance was Bill if only because he is infatuated with her... despite all her bitchiness to her friends and husband... Hank shows up right before the pageant when Peggy is a mess... and helps her save face and not embaress herself... its moments like those that stand out and gave this show heart

I always read haters wonder why this couldn't be done with real humans... the luxury with cartoons, is you can almost freeze at a certain time in characters lives, Bobby i think is more interesting here in his preteen age than he would be older... and certain stories would be difficult to shoot in live action like the episode a few weeks ago with the mansion built in the neighborhood... or the one where Hank (after catching Bobby with a cigarette) has him smoke an entire carton of them to teach him a lesson... it backfired and Bobby, Hank AND Peggy all become addicted to cigarettes...

I have to agree that I thought it got cancelled a LONG time ago and it was amusing time filler. However, it beats the pants off of shows like American Dad and Two and a Half Men though.

I don't mean to hate on it in a thread of people who obviously like it but, I have wasted too much time trying to figure out what was good about the show.
But Peggy was supposed to be annoying and very conceited...
She's not so much conceited as she is overwhelmingly confident in herself. She also happens to think everyone else should see her in that sort of light, and almost no one does, which is why she comes off as annoying.

A lot of her lines are actually really hilarious if you look at them in the right light. But then again, a lot of them are hilarious just by their own existence.

Not saying she wasnt hilarious... her little scam she ran during the episode where Hank becomes the beloved substitute teacher (threatening her quest for 3 straight substitute teacher of the year awards) by telling the children to vote for Mrs. Hank Hill wasnt as much about confidence as fear of losing her little award... it was when she strayed like that that I found her really funny... at the end of the episode the cheers "she" gets when Hank steps out momentarily on stage to hand her something end when he exits and she starts her speech as the screen fades to black... I always laugh at that moment

Yes you can say it was a self confidence issue at times too... a very BLIND one...
