Wow, i can't believe people still come up with bizzaro world stuff like this. Its early 2005 all over again. Launch games don't define a system. In 2 months it will be the hottest thing on the planet, you can be sure of that.
Not sure what planet you're talking about, but it certainly isn't Earth. Maybe Vulcan? Rura Penthe? Artemis Tau? Romulus?

Eh, believe what you want. Nintendo is going to once again dominate E3, and you'd be a fool to think every new game announced will be for Cafe. We didn't know about DKC or Kirby until E3 last year, and they launched less than 5 months later.

Some people won't like the games they offer either way, but to suggest its not going to be financially successful? Hokay, guy.
Well to be fair that damn t shirt got me punched in the face at checkout...
What? I must have missed your story if you posted it. Maybe everyone was just really excited about Mortal Kombat's return?
SHC,

Question regarding an exchange and the coupon. I got 2 copies of DQV last week for the $15 coupon. I sold one on ebay but due to amazon's goldbox deal, it is not practical to keep. I was just planning on doing an exchange for something else that is in the $30 range. That should be okay and not negate my coupon right?
Unless something has changed with how the store views coupons, I don't think so. Back in November I bought a headset that didn't work and tried returning it exchanging it. There was no more stock, and they would only refund the amount I paid AFTER the coupon. Similarly, I tried exchanging a game I had used a coupon on and they wouldn't let me do. Again, they would only grant the amount I paid AFTER the coupon towards the exchange.

Not really, i enjoy all the systems. I just hate how people discount Nintendo nowadays. You may not like them, but they are towering over the HD twins for a reason.

So why are their system and software sales falling behind the HD twins in just about all the regions?

After 5 years, i say its about time. Do understand how fast they sold 85 million wii's? They are showing off their new home console in 2 months anyway. Sony or MS would give anything to be in their position, or even have a single piece of software sell like one of Wiis hits.

I'm gonna guess you guys responding pay a lot more attention to sensationalist news stories about market trends than actual market trends.

Oh well just differing opinions. I could be very wrong. I hope I am. The way I see it though Nintendo is not in a great position at the moment and unless they do something to change that I can only see things getting worse.
So I am holding off on WWE All Stars will there be a better deal anytime soon then the one that is currently up?
I was holding off too, but went ahead and got it for the 360 today using my 45 dollar coupon, just ended up around 5 bucks and some change. The DLC for the 360 just got released today and a couple of posters on this thread ( I'm looking at you Shady Nation ) said It was fun. I'm sure with time, just like every other game It will be cheaper.

ur right, nintendo did sell a lot of systems in relatively short time frames (in wii's case esp) but they do have a much larger market base (children and adults, and some teens) but the thing also is... the wii 2 or w/e its called from what we know, isnt doing much more than the wii + a few things that... is unnecessary or should've already been added. plus a big selling point for the wii was motion control... now that that has more or less worn off, what else does it have to offer? nintendo is slipping tbh, they have those really strong games with huge fanbases, but even those fans can't keep holding up nintendo

Nintendo had been written of for both the DS and Wii, but both were tremendous successes. I will give them the benefit of the doubt, but definitely there are certain changes that they need to make to stay competitive. REAL online play is one of them.

I have a 3DS, and I'll be the first to tell you that it's far from ideal. The 3D is suspect, the screen is way smaller than the XL, and there aren't any good games at the moment.

Oh, well. I will probably bite on any new Nintendo hardware, but there are only so many Paper Mario and Zelda games I can play.
We'll see. Nobody cares about DoA and Mercenaries isnt going to be Resident Evil 4. If they drop the price and Zelda and Mario dont suck it'll probably be fine, sure. Otherwise I think the thing is going to tank. The battery life sucks, The games suck, their online sucks, their 3D gimmick sucks (dont tilt it!), and people aren't falling for it so quickly this time.

If they dont get their asses in gear yesterday, the next ipod will come out and put the final nail in it's coffin. Even the NGP will be much more enticing to many.
Time for a tangent
This is a little exaggerated, don't you think? We haven't had a DoA game for 5 years. I would think there should be a little demand there.

Mercenaries is capcom doing what capcom does best - getting the most money out of their most popular franchises. Even the worst RE games were profitable, otherwise they wouldn't keep doing them.

Online is actually quite good if the developer focuses on it. I actually think SSF4 on 3DS is less laggy and finds matches faster than it does on Xbox Live, lol.

Battery life is overstated - I've never run into a problem with the battery draining before I got home, and I don't play any system for more than 5-6 hours in one day. (which is the battery life, a lot of people hating the 3DS are eager to estimate extremely low on the 3 hour end with full brightness and using wifi or something) It's also very comparable or better than most portable devices (ipod in particular, try watching a movie or playing infinity blade for more than an hour or two)

Ipod is not a gaming device. End of story. Almost every game on there is shitty or very basic. It's not even competition. NGP might do well if the price isn't to high. And with the power and screen size they're using battery life will also be an issue unless it's 2-3x the size of the 3DS with a heavy battery inside.

Sorry I just think a lot of the 3DS criticisms are dumb and shortsighted. It'll do fine. DS started out slow as well. Does anyone remember Feel the Magic and Yoshi Touch and Go? That system was terrible until almost a year later with NSMB DS and Meteos and Kirby Canvas Curse and the like.

Uhh, if you've got some info about the Wii successor please include a source. Its all rumors for now, but if adding a 6 inch touch screen to your controller "isn't doing much more" then i'm not sure what is.

Nintendo made an absolute killing selling Gamecube hardware with a unique controller. They are now moving on to the next gen because it's easy for them to do now financially, and still make a small profit on every system sold.

Nintendo was smart to stand around and let the other guys play catch up at last years E3 before dropping the bomb. They'll be fighting for 2nd place for years to come.

I love how this thread has turned into gaming discussions with nothing to do with Kmart's specials, questions, complaints, concerns, etc... NOT.

You should throw it out, you bought them to resell and lost, why is Kmart on the hook for that? I know some will hate on this response, that's fine.
Looking forward to the Lego Pirates announcement.
Same. A good simple deal on this one would make it a day1 for me.

Oh man! I thought you were serious for a second! Hahah, you're so hilarious.

I got the kmart salespaper today and saw portal 2 is going to be $34.99 next week and I was like WTF??? I too may never buy another game at launch. I was already debating on if I should get LA Noire when it comes out.

List:

Adjust price of the $59.99 copy of Portal I bought to sale price
Match Kmart sale for the copy I bought at Best Buy
Buy PC version at Best Buy matching gamestop for $29.99
Use BB credit from Kmart match and $10 gift card to buy PC version for $9.99
Sell both console copies.
That is all

a bunch of gaming sources have posted things they've seen i believe, anyway, the 6 inch screen? really? thats wat ur pullin out as "doing much"? its not --- if ur using it at home... ur not gonna be staring at a 6 inch screen between ur hands... u'll be staring at the 22+ screen in front of u... the only thing that it would be useful for is like, say a menu, and if ur going out... i'd rather get somethin that is dedicated to watching movies, or goin on the internet, or playing games specifically on that device, and somethin that doesnt need to be streamed from another device at home...
and true, they'll make a profit on all systems sold but it does matter how many people will buy one and then, how many will buy games, but i guess we'll see when it actually launches

I was in Kmart today & they had The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion -- Game of the Year Edition [PlayStation 3 Game], It rang up as $29.99.

Isn't it suppose to be $14.99 like it is list on the first page of this thread?:

i assume ur talkin to me, and my reply is "ur point?"

edit: He4vyMetaL - i think thats just for the regular-non goty version (if ur talkin about teh clearance list)

You should double-check the list.

I am pretty sure it's just the regular PS3 version that's $14.99. The 360 GOTY is $19.99.

My point is that your post was not only irrelevant but also unintelligible. It's one thing to derail a thread with stupid crap, but at least bother to form sentences.

AFAIK it's a no on both, but I've only seen confirmation on the duke. kmart seems to avoid the expensive limited run CEs.

Yes it's somewhat exaggerated. Somebody cares about DoA just not the masses like for Mario/Zelda. The online for Wii/3DS needs to compete with XBox/PS3 and it just doesnt yet. Maybe it will soon with the 3DS and Wii 2. I hope so but am not holding my breath. For battery life I'm just going off what I've read so if it's fine for you, great. Reading about it though puts me in no hurry to get one. The same can be said about an ipod touch though.

Speaking of which, a lot of games on the ipod are shitty and basic yes. A lot are also good and basic, and some are really not all that basic, and they're good. More basic than a full 3DS game sure but I can get 10 of those ipod games vs a single 3DS game. Things are going to push ahead gaming wise faster on devices like the ipod than they will on a 3DS. You've got to look forward even if only to this fall/into 2012.

To ignore ipod/similar devices as competition for the 3DS I think would be very very wrong.

The thing is they not only do games, but also internet, music, apps, record video, and even the touch can easily be used as a video phone. GPS is coming and already in many devices, better cameras, better specs for better games...that is closer to the future than the 3DS.

Now if Nintendo releases a new model with better battery life and drops the price to $200, has a good online service, and the games dont suck, it wont fail. Hell it's possible that Zelda/Mario alone will save the 3DS. If both of those turn out to be fantastic games I'll be in line for one as long as I can find a deal on it.

Or, I may just forget about it completely when the 5G/NGP are announced.

For me at least Nintendo will be fighting a rough and bloody uphill battle in the next couple of years with the 3DS and even the Dolphin. They can still win but they better have a damn good strategy and cut the gimmicks. I wish them nothing but the best of luck as I grew up with a NES and I want to see competition as it's good for everyone in the end.
Anyone got a speculation to what the Kmart deal for LA Noire may be?
No we just know there's a $20 coupon with it. That alone is enough for me but I think theres another offer along with that to be revealed. Maybe something along with it like a Tshirt such as MK, or a discount on other games or points cards as has been done in the past.

Yep bought it to resell. The one copy paid for the other one and the coupon was a bonus. Thanks your "help" though. :applause:

Keep it classy.

I will just use the coupon on Portal on Sunday, and do my exchange on Monday.

Thanks SHC-Gamer and friends. I got my $45 GC to make up for the coupon mixup. Appreciate what you guys are doing and keep up the excellent service.

Ipod games are just plain limited by the nature of their controls. You're never going to be able to replace a 3DS or PSP/NGP with a device that has no buttons. That's as bad as saying that Kinect, Move, and Wii motion nonsense can replace controllers, because, you know, they're popular.

I love my touch for music and web browsing but I refuse to buy another game for it. $0.99 games are meaningless when you turn them on once and then never play them again. I guess some people do that with everything though. And I fail to see how gaming can "push ahead" on a device where you can be interrupted by a phone call or text message at any time, which doesn't have button control, and which has a marketplace where only $1 games and bad ports of console titles from huge publishers can succeed.

The so called "gimmicks" is what has made nintendo so successful the last few generations. The gamecube was the only one without a significant "gimmick" and that turned out poorly.

NGP is the one that's going to be more questionable, I think. It's positioned as an all around media device and the size of that thing is going to be hard to sell. Want a portable media device? Ipod touch. Want a larger, more laptop-like experience? Ipad. NGP sits somewhere between that and I don't think anyone is going to buy one for non-gaming reasons. Just like I don't think a lot of people are going to pay $300-400 to play current gen HD games on a 6 inch screen.

Any chance of a Lego Star Wars 3 deal sometime soon? I liked the demo.

since you seem to be a tales fan is that tales game for 3DS they announced a remake of a PS2 game? I've never played one because the anime-ness of them was a big turn off. Was Tales of Abyss suppossed to be a good one?

Yeah Abyss is a remake, I think they also added some stuff to it. And yeah Abyss is one of the better Tales games. The remake might be what puts me over the edge on buying a 3DS, although I am tempted to wait until Christmas time for a SE bundle of some type. :)

Abyss is a straight port with no additional aside from fixing stuff like loading time.
