wow, that tru black friday ad is terrible. At least it means I won't have to go to that zoo this year. From the looks of things I may just stay home. I haven't seen anything that jumps out so far from any of the big retailers.
bfads dot net has posted the TRU BF ads and doorbusters. their "BF" sale will start at 10 p.m. on thanksgiving this year, so no one needs to get up at 4 a.m. ;)

LEGO City Police Command Center (7743) - 34.99

LEGO City Road Rescue Garage (7642) - 33% off

 • Power Miners 8964 Titanium Command Rig $73.49 (MSRP reg.$99.99 – TRU reg.$104.99)

IMO, not something I'm willing to try to get. (They're all yours Crane)

I'll be out and about (I'm going to try to get one of those FREE Disney snow globes at JCPenny) and as far as LEGOs go, I think I'm only getting 2 Troll Castle sets.

Exciting to hear that TRU has #30005. I need more Stormtroopers. Better polybag set that the ones at Target!

Wow...I can't believe the TRU bf deals on Lego is that weak. But at least it doesn't make me sadder...that I'm already missing out of Black Friday. Good luck to everyone, and maybe Walmart will have a good deal on a Lego set.

Oh yeah, Meggie - like in previous years when my local Walmart mistakenly put their BF stuff out a week early, and at 50% off the BF price. Apparently the store didn't know what to do with them because they were discontinued, and they also didn't know they were for BF so they just put them on unmarked clearance. I only found out the price after scanning them. I got some Castles and Patrol Boat/Towers for $30 and $15 each! :) That Castle was the deal of the year, to be sure! Hoping for something that good for this year too...

That's when they had Castles at $30 and troll boats at $30 too… picked up 2 castles & 3 boats.

Tru is lame this year.

I agree 100% I knew it was going to be bad, but not this bad. But somehow someway it will still be a madhouse in store. I'm not looking forward to it. Knowing TRU though, most of these Black Friday deals will be recycled during their 2 day sales during December.

My son put together the Lego Bullseye from Target gift card tonight. It is very cute. He seemed to like it. Not hard to put together at all. I saw 3 more in my Target today. The box it comes in is nice also. Besides that I collect Lego for my son I also like to collect Target Gift cards. So this is very cool to me.

Seems like Kmart did a 25% clearence on PoP sets. If anyone knows when Kmart clearances them out, please post. I wouldn't mind picking up a set or two for cheap.

TRU just sent an email... apparently the SW TIE Defender is going to be 50% off. $26.49 Doorbuster for Friday and Saturday morning. 3pm to 11pm, and sometime before noon.

Not too bad considering the piece count of a licensed product.

I was a Kmart wed. and didn't see any markdowns for the POP sets. I hope you're right and we get an "additional % off clearance sale" soon. I was never too interested in the POP sets (except for the ostrich piece like everyone else), but when you see them on clearance they seem more appealing!

That TIE Defender was the last MSRP set I got from Border's before they jacked up the prices. The ship is just too awkward/big to display nicely or even play with. One of the few SW sets that we took apart shortly after building it. That is a really good price for it though.

Found the "stocking stuffer" polybags at Target, but they were all in the checkout lanes. Also saw Lego t-shirts with poloybags stuck to them in the little boys section at walmart...I forget the set numbers but they were nothing special and not cheap at $10 even with a shirt.

Did anybody get the game Lego Universe? I was wondering how it was. If you think it would be fun for my 9 year old. I was a little concerned that you have to pay each month for it though. Any thoughts welcomed.

Reviews weren't that great for it, and I wouldn't pay-to-play for the good Lego games that my son can't get enough of.

I pretty much played 100% of what they have for content over 24 hours put in.

It's fun and having your own lot/place to build but it's not mmo-ish. I could do a lot by myself and not need anyone.

I think a free-to-play with a cash shop is in LU's future…

I did buy a month card just to spend more time building my Lot.

Meijer is going to have 50% off all it's Lego City, Atlantis, Star Wars, World Racers, & Harry Potter Sets.

I hope they match this online.

Would be slick, but the only HP set online is the Quidditch.

The only set for City is the Airport but getting that for $50 would be worth it.

I would pick up the world racers set for sure.

Love to pick up more Kingdom sets.

Stopped at target during lunch and they had 30-35 copies each of the troll castle and the space police set. The troll castle scanned in at $100.99, which I thought was odd.

Used the B&N coupon to pick up the HP Train for 53.xx. I was surprised to see it there since it was not listed online, but could not resist at that price. I had hoped to pick up Hagrid's hut since my online order for it got canceled, but it was not there. This was also my first LEGO purchase since moving to Oregon, so no sales tax, woo hoo.

Hey ackbar, can you help me understand how you used the coupon to get the HP train down to $53? B&N sells it for $79.99 (MSRP, which is nice)...25% off of that would bring it down to approximately $59...how did you get it down further than that? My local store is holding both HP train and the HP Burrow for me.

B&N member with the additional 10% discount would be my guess.

Your recent BN order got canceled???

geez, maybe I should check mine...

just a reminder, you can join the barnes & noble kids club and get a 33%-off coupon .. takes a couple days to arrive in your e-mail and then it's good for approximately 7-8 weeks. works in-store or online. unfortunately couldn't use it to buy the HP burrow as planned because they all disappeared online during the BOGO 1/2 off sale and my local BN doesn't stock it.

Got the free trial membership ordering some other HP sets earlier in the week.
Another odd note is that my supposedly 3 day UPS shipping has for some reason been traveling all around the country and is now scheduled to get here sometime in the middle of next week. I am definitely someone who prefers USPS.

meijer online has a lot of sale & clearance lego sets including

8198 Ramp Crash - 8.99 (msrp 14.99)

7595 Army Men on Patrol - 9.00 (10.99)

8060 Typhoon Turbo Sub - 14.99 (24.99)

5973 Hyperspeed Pursuit - 29.99 (49.99)

8517 Ben 10 Humungousaur - 9.99 (14.99)

8075 Neptune Carrier - 40.04 (59.99)

6752 Creator Fire Rescue - 52.50 (59.99)

prices in parentheses are lego s@h prices for comparison. many more sets are on sale and there's more bionicle on clearance.

meijer in-store had a lot of lego marked down as well.

I was at Target and didn't see the dogs anywhere bu t didn't look too hard.

I saw the World Racers boat, which was $4 at mine because it scanned up Star Wars".

The dogs should be on the end cap of the greeting cards area with a sample dog and a bunch of other various giftcards, I say should be because I still have yet to find a Target that doesn't have an empty spot where the giftcards should be. Damn hoarders ...

ectrane, the spot by the greeting cards only holds about 8 so it empties quickly. it was empty when i went so i went back up to the front and asked nicely and a manager opened a giant box full of them and asked me how many i wanted, then an employee trundled over with 8 more for the rack.

you can buy them online but you have to put $25 on the card, or so i've heard.

So apparently the Green Grocer has seen it's last days. They posted on FBTB that it's sold out on S&H and somebody confirmed they weren't replenishing stock. So get your doll houses  before they get up to $400 on the secondary market.

Good thing I finally got my GG last month with double rewards. Have to thank Zepphead for reminding me it was going to go oos....

B&N canceled my order too...looks like I'm going to buy these dang HP legos at Borders instead. They also have a gift card promo...buy 50.00 gift card online and get a 10.00 additional gift card, which ends today. Maybe can add it with cashback.

But I did see Borders is on a list of top 10 companies to go bankrupt by 2011, so better not hang onto the gift cards too long. Maybe that's also why they are always giving out these 40% coupons....but can't complain.

So, who went out to TRU and got the Tie Defender? Was it crazy?

I should have bought 2 GG when I had the chance when they were 50% off, probably could have traded for the Cafe Corner.

Also, I went to TRU today and the Tie Defender wasn't advertised there or even had a tag. Picked two of them up =), I didn't see the speeder bike poly bag either. Anybody here that picked it up have the item number?

You didn't happen to see any new 2011 sets did you? Someone on Eurobricks took a picture of a new Atlantis set.

Didn't see any new sets, at least at this TRU the other one across town gets stuff out quicker but the shelves were still packed with the old sets.

Saw a few 2011 sets at TRU here in Nor Cal - specifically the Angler Atlantis set and a couple of the new Creator sets like the small robot with a light brick. Oddly it was just a couple and nowhere near the full lines.

Also decided to swap my medieval market village for another Green Grocer. Just seemed like the better investment for the time being.

Hi, the TRU number for the speeder bike set is 586666. They are pretty nice - I got a few. I wish they would have had a biker scout instead of a stormie, but oh well. I wasn't going to get the TIE Defender at all, but at that price it was worth it for the spare pieces. I went at 5 pm (2 hours into the sale) and was surprised to still find one. Probably because 3 of the 4 left had thrashed boxes. The place was abnormally packed, even for a sale day. I hope they keep doing these 50% off deals on the older, unpopular sets next week.
So, who went out to TRU and got the Tie Defender? Was it crazy?
I went yesterday at 7:00 PM and they were out. The lady there said that there were multiple people walking around with the tie defenders in their carts at 1:30 PM, waiting for the 3:00 PM sale to start. She said that they'd restock overnight, but I was working today and didn't want to get up and be there at 7:00 AM when they opened... Was disappointing.

Target is running a BOGO50%off sale on Harry Potter, POP, and Hero Factory sets this week. They usually spread the discount (25%) off of all the sets so you can return one and keep the discount on the one you don't. I was sure the Potter sets wouldn't go on sale anywhere before Xmas...so much for that.

barnes and noble online has stocked a lot of new lego including several big star wars sets. if you join the kids club, you'll get a 33%-off coupon in your email 2 or 3 days later. free shipping if you spend $25. there's also a 25%-off bn coupon floating around.

Saw two Pharoah's Quest sets at TRU and the new Police boat (I believe it is a 2011 set). I got the $10 Pharoah's Quest set - I like the motorcycle and the two mummy minifigures.

Getting the HP sets like Haggar's and another wouldn't be too bad considering Target has a $5 off coupon on it. It would be like getting another 5% on top... but they were totally wiped clean by 10:30.

All I picked up were two Dobby's. Seemed like good sets for around 8 each.

I'm still waiting on BN to ship my order. I think I got in early enough to not get my order canceled. Sucks for the rest of the orders you guys placed. Did they ever compensate for it? maybe a small GC? or something?

I didn't stop at TRU to see if they had any new sets. They disappoint me so much I'll just wait till they have them on Sale first.

TRU gave us harry potter lego keychains as a promo .. just threw a handful in our bag. they aren't minifigs .. just a white plate decorated with a hogwarts shield and a few studs. still, a nice freebie.

edit: did a bit of googling and they are the same ones given out in may for the launch of the harry potter lego video game. guy said they were "new" and he had a lot of them. we got a leftover bricktober fig, too. they must have been in a santa mood.

I know this thread is supposed to be about deals, but I wanted your opinions on something. I can only choose 2 of the following 4 Star Wars sets. 10198, 10178, 10174, and 8039. I'm undecided and am looking for a combination of fun to build and awesome to look at and show off. Thanks in advance.

That's really hard,. I love the ships, reminds me of childhood with building big ships with Duplos.

I really like 10198, 10178 and 8039. More so the two ships, but I live AT-ATs, more so if it moves I have no clue how well it moves, I own none of those sets.

I know one of your choices should be the motorized AT-AT...challenging build and there is nothing cooler than turning that thing on and watching it walk across the room.

Out of the 4 you have mentioned I have all of them but only built 2 of them. The AT-ST is really cool but I wouldn't recommend it on the price, can you still find this new and not from a secondary market? It's a really cool set but has no functionality, it just sits there and looks cool.

The Venator is really good but you should have jumped on that one a half a year ago when they were on clearance at Target. It's a really cool set, had some hard to come by mini-figures but a tad smaller than I would have liked it to be.

The last two I haven't built but are some of my favorite sets, I agree with husher that any set based on Technic is really where it's at. I also like this rendition better than the recent one they just released. The Tantive IV I like better than the Venator and would say it has more playability than it.

The new Passenger Plane is down to $30 on Amazon and it's 28.50 in my gold box today. I'm thinking about it. Dunno if there are any similar drops on there or if it's related to anything.

Walmart has it for $30 for this month, it's in their holiday book.

However no tax and no Walmart makes it a pretty good deal.
