I wanted to grab it now just in case another Emerald Night situation arises.
What Emerald Night situation?
What Emerald Night situation?
They were sold out for a couple weeks after it first released. Then the S@H also put it on backorder for awhile. It wasn't anything major, as LEGO is pretty good about eventually meeting demand. I just like to grab my sets early in case there's a rush on some of the cooler sets.

I wish so much of the LEGO store wasn't dominated by Star Wars ... I'm hoping that Prince of Persia takes away a bit of the shelf space. Hell, who am I kidding, I just want the new Spring / Summer sets to get here already so I can throw down $$ for Prince of Persia and a Slave 1 and maybe a Wampa ...

Last time I was at my local Lego store, it was pretty well stocked with just about all the current themes, not just Star Wars.

The new sets I'm looking forward to are:

Slave 1
General Grievous Starship
Lego City Lego Truck
Lego City Tank Truck
Lego City Airport
Lego City Passenger Plane

And of course, the minifig collections 1 and 2, whatever I can find.

I may go for one of the Kingdoms tower sets or King's Castle, but not sure.

At some point, I'll try and get Grand Emporium.

Yeah, there's a decent mix ... I just miss the Indiana Jones stuff and some of the Agents stuff. I noticed a bunch of the new minifigures have keychain forms now ... Admiral Ackbar, Wicket, the new Power Miner, and a bunch of others. New Atlantis magnets as well as the 2 new SW sets Jay mentioned are also out.

Looks like the City Police Command Center that was briefly offered by Amazon for $44.99 is gone now. The third party sellers have it starting at $74.99 now... :bomb: I was just about to receive my trade-in credit too. Anyone know of any other good Amazon LEGO deals?

they had a bunch of lighning deals around xmas and most of those were year old sets to begin with, but they were up to 50% off.

so far not too much... I just don't think amazon could lower the price on those.

I just rec'd my Police Truck from Amazon this past weekend. I knew I had to jump on that asap because it wouldn't last at that price on Amazon. The third party sellers on there are ridiculous and even certain sets that are apparently direct through Amazon tend to be higher in price than S@H.

Yeah, I knew that was gonna happen. I was planning on ordering it the minute my trade-in credit arrived but it figures...

I'm with you on that one. Although I have Slave I 6209, 8097 looks a bit better, especially the Han Solo Carbonite!

Not sure if this is just my area, but a week ago or so all my local Targets had a bunch of the spring impulse sets in the Easter area. Now, the spots have been empty for days except for the Duplo polybags.

HOARDERS.

just saying...
HOARDERS.

The Target by me had a bunch of those. There are only two right? Cuz I picked up an x-wing and a gunship.

If anybody wants one, I can go check to see if they still have them.

Wow, I never see the impulse sets at Target ... granted I never go looking for them, but I always seem to miss them.

So now that we've seen the new Board Games in stores and the GE is out, anyone have any idea when the first batch of mini-figure bag sets is due out?

there is suppose to be a fire and a police set too. fire truck, and police boat.

So that would be 4.

I think June.

2nd set will be Sept.

It was on those teeny tiny cards in the photos.

I would say June for in Lego Stores and maybe Shop @ Home, then probably late June/July for TRU or if Target will ever get them.

No clue if WM will... would be nicer.

There are a total of 4 impulse sets for the regular LEGO and they are:

30050 - Republic Attack Shuttle $3.49
30051 - X-Wing $3.49
30002 - Police Boat $2.99
30010 - Fire Chief $2.99

And I think there's 4-6 Duplo. 1 figure and the rest are animals, which can easily been seen through the polybags.

I just want a few more of the city sets because they contain some decent elements with a minifig. At a price point of $2.99, you can't go wrong.

Yeah those sets are actually not Impulse sets, they are just small sets that have twice as many pieces as an Impulse set and cost $1 less.

I decided to bite on Green Grocer now. My understanding is Lego will be stocking this for the rest of the year, or at least until their 2010 Holiday push before retiring it, but I figure this is easily the most popular and critically well-received of the modular sets (even more than Grand Emporium so far), so I might as well get one while it's still in the primary market. If it does go on sale between now and the holidays, I may even pick up another one for giggles, but at least I'll have one regardless.

Edit: I see Warner Bros has extended their license w/Lego to have TT make more Lego video games--through 2016. There's also a Lego theatrical movie in the works.

Hey does that mean that they will bring back Lego Batman sets?? WB does own the Batman license, right?

Good to know I still have some time to buy GG....I need to find it on sale. That and Cafe Corner.

I believe the contract is just extending TT's ability to make Lego video games, not a license for LEGO to make more Batman sets--anyway, Batman is a DC property, not a WB one.

Cafe Corner was discontinued and can only be found in the grey/secondary market right now--good luck finding that one on sale. :p

Oh wow, I came back from our local Lego store--50% off select sets!

I picked up:

Republic Attack Gunship
Indiana Jones Flying Wing
Red Tractor
Police Car
Mine Mech

They had more SW and other items, but those were the ones I was most interested in.

The only thing discounted at my LEGO store are those SW magnet sets. I picked up a couple of each of those, along with an Admiral Ackbar keychain. Probably not really worth $5, but you know I couldn't resist.

$10 Mine mech would be sweet, I'd pick up another!

By definition, Impulse sets are defined as a set that contains one minifigure and a small amount of utilities or vehicle for the minifigure to interact with. The set may either come in a small box or polybag. Price point does not exceed $5.
Pssst .... WB owns DC ;)
Doh, I forgot.

I think you're thinking of the Magma Mech which is $19.99, but Mine Mech is the smaller one that came out first at $9.99. $4.48 is still a nice price, IMO. :)

No, an Impulse set is a set that used to be $3.50 and contain a minifigure and 20ish parts. LEGO Impulse stated a few years back.

An impulse set is any you buy without really thinking, it could cost $20, it doesn't matter.

And don't make me mad tonight, my damn headache returned. :wall:

Prices for the items I got earlier (keep in mind that this is Hawaii and there's a mark up here on certain sets):

Republic Shuttle $35.48
Flying Wing $24.98
Tractor $8.48
Police Car $4.48
Mine Mech $4.48

Man, where have I been? Wow, you're right...CC is like 300 some dollars on Amazon. I guess we won't be getting that one. Saw it at the Lego store in Dec....should have grabbed it then. Oh well...I'm going to get the GG for sure.

ah... yep, was thinking of the Magma Mech. Those other Mechs were clearanced out months ago, haven't seen one in months.

My local Borders carries Space Police, City, Pirates, Castle, Atlantis, Indiana Jones, Power Miners...so yes pretty much all the normal retail sets.

Edit: Lego shared their European financials today revealing that they did well last year, buoyed by strong sales of Star Wars and City, despite the overall downturn in the toy sector. Apparently, the new board games did very well in the UK, exceeding expectations. I expect they'll do rather well here in the US too, although I did not see any in my local Lego store yet.

Edit2: Grand Carousel came back in stock @ TRU. Might have been a return or cancellation...

Well, I got my last two green grocers today. It's pretty obvious that they were stock that TRU had left over judging by the box condition. One of the boxes is particularly bad as it's ripped open vertically all the way across one side of the box.

I don't know whether I should keep that one or just return it. If I would return it then it would save me the trouble of having to sell one of the sets, but they can claim that it was one of the $75 sets and not the full price one.

Anyone had experience returning TRU merchandise purchased in a buy one get one x off sale?

Unless you have a gift receipt it's going to be a huge hassle, at least in my personal experience. You might be able to sell it to someone on here, as not everyone really cares about the boxes as long as the contents are intact.

During videogame promotions, people have had varying success. Sometimes you have to return all the items (like for a B2G1 sale), other times they'll take back the games you paid for and people wind up with a free game. I think they're supposed to take back both items and you'd have to buy back the one in nice condition.

I'd sell the one in the nice box and build the one in the crappy box.

The Tie Defender is also on sale on Amazon for $6 off making it $44. I still feel like it's overpriced at $44 for 300 pieces but it is a pretty cool looking set.

was 25, now 19, FSSS.

goto Toys

Target has $5 off coupon good till 4/11:
TS Woody & Buzz Rescue $20
City Off-Road Fire Truck & Fire Boat $40
Ben 10 Jet Ray $15

Not a too bad price on the Woody rescue... the City Fire Truck and boat looks still too expensive, but nice.
Nice, with my team member discount and the coupon I can get the toy store set for about $13.

Forgot to mention that Amazon has been PM'ing Walmart.com on certain Lego sets. The latest Fire Station is $72 for example.
Forgot to mention that Amazon has been PM'ing Walmart.com on certain Lego sets. The latest Fire Station is $72 for example.
Nice. Now I can't decide if I want to get the Fire Station or Endor with my Amazon credit...

If they were ever to get Venator Class Attack Cruiser back in stock at regular price I would definitely be getting that to sit next to my Star Destroyer. Ugh, flippin' 3rd party sellers.

7641 City Corner just briefly popped in stock from Amazon directly and I was able to order it when there was the little indicator saying 1 left. I haven't seen this set anywhere lately, online or in stores. I remember seeing an idea to turn it into Dawn of the Dead with some modifying, especially the bus, so I'm really excited I was able to get it.

Sonnuva--! The Galactic Enforcer set that was marked down to $68 @ my local Walmart went up in price to $114 this morning! Doh. I was hoping it'd drop some more to $50-ish. :(

That's part of the problem. I have no idea if the contents are intact, because the rip is so big that I had no trouble getting all the bags out through it. So there may be bags missing, but upon checking EuroBricks it seems that I have the same number of bags as one of the reviewers. That is if he included all the bags in his pictures.

That's what I'm thinking. I'm also keeping one with the nicest box out of the four for my small MISB collection of exclusive/detailed sets. I just though that since the box is ripped it might be a good excuse to return that one and only having to sell one set.

gunm, how did you figure out when gg would retire?? I wanted to know when 10178 would retire (motorized walking atat), so I know how much time I have left to buy it, or wait for a sale. does anyone know? son loooves this set! he walks it like he's walking a dog.
