It'd be nice if they did a retroactive reward for previous online/phone purchases (I know they won't, but it sure would be nice).
that would be sweet, I ordered a shit-ton of impulse sets because:

A) Target/MW/KM doesn't carry them
B) TRU Sucks
C) No Lego stores around
D) TRU really SUCKS

Picked up Pizza Planet Rescue today during lunch. Can't wait to get home and build it, but I already took Hamm and Rex out, and they're pretty awesome. I kinda want the dumpster set from TRU as well, but I'll have to wait for now.

I consider myself lucky that I have a lego store nearby, because when those farmer impulse sets come out, I'll be picking up ten of them. I want the pigs, but there's no way I'm buying the pig farm. Yes, they give you 4 pigs in the set, but theres not enough pieces in the set to make it worthwhile.

Ah, finally some hi-res screens of those sets. I really don't want to get into trains due to space considerations, but those are so fucking awesome, I don't think I can resist. I definitely want that cargo train, and if I get that, I might as well get that passenger train too. fuck Lego, you're bleeding me dry. :p

Four Impulse sets will cost you $16 for 4 pigs and maybe, at most 80 pieces. The Pig Farm cost $35 for 256 pieces.

What's interesting is that the Train sets were not shown at any North American toy fairs. So hopefully they will be released here.

Yeah, but I don't care about the other pieces. I only want the pigs. I can recreate the rest of the set (if not make it better) with Lego in my collection.

I'm liking most of them. Damn. I think I've spent more money on LEGOs this year than any other year and we're not even into summer sets yet!

Me too. :cold:

Built the Pizza Planet truck today...and I'm really impressed. If any of you are put off by the 220+ pieces for $39.99, I would give it a chance (though if you can wait, I'm sure it will go on sale at some point soon). The truck is fairly big, meaning most of those 220+ pieces are pretty big. It also has a bunch of unique pieces (all of the decorations are printed, not stickers) such as several window pieces in opaque yellow, not to mention the build is extremely fun and non repetitive, and includes a few interesting and surprising building techniques. Plus, the minifigure selection is great.

And the pizza launcher not only includes SIX pizzas, but it actually uses a RUBBER BAND to launch them! Lego better prepare for the onslaught of lawsuits that will no doubt be cast upon them, as we all know all non-flickfire projectiles are extremely dangerous

NO... my mom did. ;)

I also forgot the dump truck I bought for $13 at Walmart and should have returned, I don't like that set.

I really wish LEGO would release some info on the Train sets, such as a price!

Hm the venator is $104.31 @Amazon right now. Still too rich for my blood, but that's about as low as I've seen it recently.

20% coupon for first-time purchases at BN.com (create a new account if you've already ordered from there). They have a bunch of LEGO stuff at MSRP, and a couple sale items.

Coupon code is Y3T3H8T.

EDIT: For example, the big Prince of Persia set is $57.60 after coupon.

I could not get this code to work for me. I tried different emails and addreses that were not registered before to no avail.

I just tried it again and it works for me. Did you go all the way through the checkout process? You can input the coupon code on the very last screen before you confirm your order. Earlier in the checkout process the coupon might not work because you need to completely register the email address, choose a password, etc.

I think I remember doing something like this prior... you have to log in first, don't register when you order.

This was the assortment breakdown from the review.
4
Cavemen
3 Cheerleaders
3 Circus Clowns
4 Cowboys
5 Deep Sea Divers
5 Demolition Dummies
4 Forestmen
4 Magicians
5 Ninja
3 Nurses
4 Robots
3 Skaters
4 Spacemen
3 Super Wrestler
3 Tribal Hunters
3 Zombies

It sounds like this is what will be in every box. It's too bad that they decided to have 5 of some figures when it should have been split up more evenly. Both of the female characters get the minimum count? Of course Deep Sea Divers and Crash Test Dummies are on the bottom of most people's list and they are packed heavy? Those two characters are going to be worth 15 cents on the dollar with that volume.

I have preordered 2 cases (120 units) from BBTS. That's already a good chunk of cash. To get a decent cheerleader/zombie/tribal/etc squad, either a lot more needs to be spent or cases will have to be raided at stores. I feel scummy raiding cases and I don't have time to devote to it. I guess I need to buy some more cases and use a barcode trick to sort out all the excess.

I believe hording for profit is wrong, but I think people should be able to buy any volume of specific products they want without paying aftermarket prices.

Haha, individually? No. You'll be lucky to get them at MSRP I imagine. Heck, just based on the buzz on the Lego forums, you might be lucky to get them at all.

Yeah, demand seems really high on these. I think series 1 is going to disappear pretty fast. I ordered a box off of entertainmentearth, which is obviously the best price of the options now. Throw in bing cashback and it was a no brainer for me. Takes away the thrill of the hunt, but this way I think I will end up with enough of each figure.
Though if the breakdown above is truly how every box is (and I don't doubt that) I might try to track down a few more zombies. Very disappointing that crash test dummies and deep sea divers are going to be so plentiful. Zombies, tribal hunters, and forestmen all seem like better choices for the larger production run. The ninja is a good choice at least.

Picked up Lotso's Dumptruck today at Wal-Mart. For some reason, it was only 14.35. I don't know if that's a nationwide price, but it sure beats 19.99.

Looking forward to a second case breakdown and hopefully the totals won't be exactly the same. Either way I'm glad Lego didn't go the common/uncommon/rare/very rare route. That would stink having 12 of one figure and zero of the one you want.

I saw the Dumptruck at Walmart today for $14.xx (I'm pretty sure it wasn't 14.35 though). I haven't been following the new Toy Story line to know the MSRP.

I just doube checked, it was 14.37. I was off by 2 cents. I don't think I've ever seen walmart price a lego set at anything ending in 37 cents, so I have no idea what's up with that.

Holy crap, my local Border's had TS3 sets in, but the markup--!

Western Train was $94.99!?!?

And they changed prices on some older but still in production sets too. That $50 Tie Defender was $62.99?!? Hard to believe they are now actually worse than TRU.

We'll see if those toys continue to sell well for them with those fucked up prices. While I'd love for people to vote with their wallets and leave them with piles of overpriced inventory crowding their shelves, it's probably a sign that Borders in its current iteration is going to disappear sooner rather than later.

i'm not a LEGO collector (I did play with them ages ago & would love to collect), but i am more in the market for the Mindstorm NXT.

More so for my friend who has 2 boys. Does anyone knows where there might be deals (or where to look out for such deals?)

Let's be real here, when they were priced at MSRP and we were all using the 40% off coupons, Borders was losing money on each set that was sold (lots of it). It was inevitable that they would have to raise the prices but the thing is, even with the higher prices, when they run a 40% off coupon you can still get some good deals. The TS3 train for example; Border's price is $94.99 so taking 40% off of that brings it down to $56.99. That's still over 25% off of MSRP!

With as few sales as Legos get, Borders+coupons are still one of the best deals around.

+1

Plus that's better than say, oh, discontinuing the coupon, or making them not work on Lego products.

Co-sign! Let's just hope Borders continues to carry LEGOs and at the same time still issue coupons.

On a side note. I'm not going to lie. I'm getting impatient. I'm really jealous that both the european and asian countries have the luxury of purchasing the collectable minifigs. Just take a look on eBay or Bricklink. Bastards!

Give them time and eventually Border's will price Legos like they do with their Blu-rays...almost double what BB, Target, and Walmart charge. Same with their CD prices and even the books are cheaper on amazon. A $13 increase on a $50 set is just too much regardless of any coupons they may give out. One less store I have to worry about stopping at and looking for deals.

Sorry, I'm with Husher on this one. It's a slipperly slope they're on.

Honestly, all I care about is the deal. Borders can easily exclude the toys from the coupon like they do pretty much any non-book item that they're really afraid of losing money on if it was that much of a problem.

People don't go to Borders to buy toys, those are just "while you're here, why don't you check this out" type of stuff. Marking up that extraneous stuff way over every other store is more of a losing proposition IMO as no one is going to impulse buy or "while I'm here I'll just grab this" at those kind of prices any more.

Anyway you can't sell me on "if it's 40% off a 20% markup, that's still 20% off!" marketing garbage. Just give a 20% off MSRP.

And really, it's not like they have 40% offs on a regular basis.

I forgot to add, I happened to pick up next month's Lego Store Calendar, and they mention to look for the limited edition minifig collection in-store the week of June 21st.

June coupon for next month is a free mini tractor with $50 purchase.

Was able to PM TRU 25% off ad for TS3 Lego at Walmart yesterday. The Cashier was cool and did not even read the fine print. Got the Western Train Chase (7597) for $59.99 plus tax. We were going to buy the set even at full retail if we were shot down. Very happy to get this set at that price!

Have you guys seen this yet? Although I kinda like the older ones with the crane too.

I've never been good at this lego thing. That's why it amazes me to see people build such structures using legos. I've always loved legos ever since I was a kid, but i never had the creativity to build such great things with i.

That would be some bad marketing garbage, since it's actually 28% off. :)

Oops. Well you get what I'm saying--don't mark it up way over retail and then pretend the discount is more than it really is. I just hate when retailers do that.
