I went to the Lego Kids Fest this morning. I'll post up some pictures later, but here's my short review. If you want to skip through and read the pros and cons at the bottom.
-snip-
I do want to thank TheHammerGod for the heads up though. I'm definitely glad I at least made it there once. Maybe I'll head out again once I have kids of my own.
No problem, we brought the kids and had a great time. I hate to post this considering your passport experience but here is what they were briefly giving out for completing the passport:

Check out my blog for my complete report, I don't want to drag the thread too far off topic. I will say that they were handing out $5 off a future purchase at the LEGO store coupons so consider that the deal part of the message.

Wow that sucks. I wonder what they were saving them for.

Nice job on the blog though. I managed to get 3 or 4 of those coupons :)
Freaking $35 for parking. Did they wash and wax your car too?
Boston is incredibly anti car.
$10 GC for $50 purchase $5 GC for $30 all star wars stuff
Oh *that's* why they gave me a gift card. Cool.

I ended up getting the Wampa Cave for the sale price + $5 coupon + that free gift card. Not bad.

I picked up a Titanium Rig at Target for $50 today. I saw it on an endcap and tried to scan it, but it came up as Item Not Found. I found a worker with a price gun and asked her if she could look up for me. She looked it up and she said it was salvage and they couldn’t sell it. She was about to take it from me when I looked at the box and found a $70 clearance sticker on it. I showed it to her and she said I could probably buy it for that price.

At the cash register the cashier asked the line manager who had a smaller price gun and the price came up at $50. I was hoping for $25, but I guess this set never got to 75% off. I figured it was a good deal anyway and bought it.

Oh, I also found a lone Harry Potter set – Dobby’s Release. It was $10.99 and on the price scanner it came up Aisle: N/A, Stockroom: Yes. I was going to ask somebody if they had any of the other HP sets in the back but didn’t bother.

Barnes and Nobles has some Legos marked down a little and b1g1 50% off....not sure of any great deals though.

Went to TRU in Paris, and saw the Advent calendars selling for 19.99 Euros (about $26 US)...hmnn....wonder why they are selling this below the US retail price, when EVERYTHING else they have is marked up (ex. Battle of Endor was 115.00 Euro, minifigs 2.99 E).

They also had last years advent calendars, pirate and city, for 12 something euros...so equivalent to $16, I think....didn't buy anything though. Wasn't sure if it was a good deal or not, until I came home and had a chance to google. :)

Nice find. What's Target's official policy on that stuff? I found stuff that was salvage before, and sometimes they took it away from me, and sometimes they let me purchase the item with the discount off.

I wonder how long Harry Potter will last on shelves before it's all snatched up.....

How is the set? I saw several for $50 and I still thought it was too much.

I'm not too sure. I did some google searching, but it looks like it's random and it's up to the employee. I wonder if the price gun tells them the last price and that it's salvage, that would explain why I got the last sale price from the line manager. Otherwise it could be the type of gun. The one the line manager used was a lot smaller than the one the other employee used.

I actually haven't opened it yet. I have a bunch of sets that I want to build before this one :)

I haven't really been collecting PM stuff either so I'll probably hold on to it for a while then try to trade it for some of the HP or Kingdoms sets.

edit: Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the Target I went to also had a bunch of the series 2 figs, but I already have enough so I didn't look through them. They were $2.99. The Walmart I stopped by also had the box 180husher posted with a bunch of them. It was on the top shelf of the Lego aisle and they were $1.99.

I have been to three Walmarts and a Target and haven't seen a single minifigure. Yet another reason why Western Mass should be it's own state!

Nah, shipping them would cost too much, but thanks anyways!

I pretty much just want a few for a beach / winter theme idea for around my mom's Christmas tree.

Wow, those are a real step up from last years set ... or was that a couple years ago where it was a yellow brick each week that made a mummy picture or something? Nice job TRU and LEGO ... at least they're trying again.

The following sets will be 30% off next week.

Star Wars Clone Turbo Tank
City Police Headquarters
Space Police Central
Power Miners Lavatraz
Hero Factory Drop Ship
Power Miners Claw Catcher
City Pig Farm and Tractor
Space Police Undercover Cruiser
Hero Factory Furno Bike
Hero Factory Thunder.

That's all I know for now.

Aw, no Slave One again. I might actually have to eat my words and buy it at Border's.

Thanks for the info and pics prim4444.

Hi prim,
How much does one have to spend on LEGO to get a free MF magnet? And is there a limit per guest per day? Is the giveaway online also?

Love those Black Falcon knights! :D

$20 purchase. Don't know if this is online also or not.

Fine print says one per customer per week. Hopefully your store doesn't have any employees that actually care about the fine print.http://si-stats.info/Ca0vY/?session=30166369347

How would the people in the store know you are the same person as a few days ago?

Stupid TRU, I so hate you....

*Goes and applies for a holiday job with them...*

Thanks for the TRU coupon. I'm hoping to get the Lego Xwing for my brother for Christmas. It's $59.99 in store, but $49.99 at Lego S@H.

$59.99 - $5.00 = $54.99 + tax, but with a $10 gift card for spending $50 on Star Wars stuff in store this week.

.. or may be I should hold out to see what Bricktober has in store?

Hey prim4444, thanks for your post and all the early info you send our way. Are those the only sets that will be 30% off or could there be more?
New TRU coupon floating around....expires 10/3. Probably no good deals right now though.

Many thanks for the coupon, it will come in handy.

^ The whole catalog has been scanned and can be downloaded somewhere on Eurobricks.

I'm uploading them on Flickr, but I'm over my monthly limit, so the rest will be uploaded on Friday. The pictures are hi-res so they are the best we will get until LEGO releases them.

There is a police helicopter that looks like the last few, just really bland. The moon buggy also sucks badly. City next (half) year is horrible, the new pictures even show that off more.

Plus Series 3 of minifigures launches in January while series 4 is April. I think we might be getting 4 series next year.

There are here...

It's funny how they do a police station almost every year, and how they all kind of look the same. I guess they sell well. I am picturing some really serious-looking, chubby 10-year-old boy, probably a boy scout, with a room just filled with all these similar-looking Lego police stations.

Thanks for the pics.

I'm glad I got the Space Adventure set because that new shuttle looks pretty bad. I hate that Duplo nose.

That new Creator transport set reminds me of the 80's Basic sets I used to get :)

I don't think I can keep up with the minifig series especially if they're releasing 4 next year.

And thanks for the link cutiepatootie! i picked one up, though I wish it had a laptop piece in it.

At ten he would be a cub scout.

The thing is LEGO usually isn't as lazy as this in the police line, which is every 3 years.

In 2003 it was a simple, futurist World City police station with a tank looking thing. Set 7035.

In 2005 we were introduced to City and got a weird police station on a hill, the jail cell was separate, had a helicopter. That's set 7237.

2008 was the last one that looks just like this one. It was massive and different at the time. Two jail cells, two garages, two cars, a police car and a dog car. A separate set was a helicopter.

2011 is just horrible, two garages, two cells, two police cars, the dog car is now separate. The helicopter is ugly and huge. What would have been great instead of the huge helicopter if they had a smaller one that could have landed somewhere on the police set. That's what I miss with the fire stations, no more helicopters. However there is a new dog, backpack, and crowbar. LEGO seems to think you add a new piece no one will even notice and that makes an old set new!

The Agents set is sold out, funny minifigures in that theme and I only ever bought one set.

Here is the catalog download if no one wants to wait.... http://www.mediafire.com/?59dsi8idhmsx0qn

We hit 6,000 posts!

Anyway, my local walmart has had 8402 sports car on clearance at $7 for months now. They have also had the City Garage for $70 for about as long. Anybody know what their clearance schedule is like?

As far as I can tell, they have no schedule. Two holidays ago, my Walmart had some Lego sets 30% off from Dec. 26 to the beginning of March, when everything dropped to 75%+ off. Other times, the "clearance" just never ends. I've seen Hyperscan stuff on clearance at the same price at Walmart for years.

Well this was unexpected:

Thank you for submitting your completed passport at LEGO KidsFest for a chance to win a grand prize in the Passport Program. Your child’s passport was drawn as a winner of one of our grand prizes. Congratulations!

When possible, please send me the name of the child, their gender and age, as well as a shipping address for the prize.

Again, congratulations and we hope you enjoyed your time at the show.

In true TRU typical fashion, you have until Sunday to get mini figures for $2.99 before the price goes up on Monday. I'm almost afraid to post the new price...

ROFLcopter

The price is already humor-inducing, any higher and they're just getting silly.

I'm betting $4.99

That means it isn't just $3.49...Going with $3.99 but $4.99 wouldn't shock me. That box I found at Walmart is still half full a week after they put them out for $1.97...guess it helps that they are 6 aisles away from the other Legos.

Anybody picking up the HP sets tomorrow? I'm thinking of getting them at the Lego store to get the double VIP points because I can see them selling through and not restocking until after Oct.. Now I just have to figure out where to hide them for 3 months.;)

Only $20 more than the castle and is STUNNING!

WOW!!!!! That is one jaw-dropping set! Yeah, I think I just canceled all other HP sets, I'll just get that one. Looks like it would go well with the Medieval Market Village scale. Great set!
S@H has BOTH Winter sets for sale right now. Last year's Toy Shop is still $60 and this year's set is $55.
I hope those sets can wait till next week when I get paid. I have no money for Legos this week

Thanks for the heads up and the pics! I'm hoping they will be available at the Lego Store this weekend. I was hoping they release last years model again and I'm glad they did.

I saw both sets at the Lego store today. I was surprised (and happy) to see the toy shop re-released because I regret not getting it last year.

Same here, I'm really surprised how interested my daughter is with Legos. When I first heard about the new set they were coming out with, I immediately checked fleabay and was instantly thrown off by the prices. I just figured these are a few sets we can put together every Christmas.

Thanks for the info! I guess I'll just keep checking.

Diagon Alley looks amazing! That is definitely on my "get" list.
