Can you play with random people online?

I don't have any friends interested in playing this game with me, so it's going to be kind of lame if I can't...
 
Yes, you can.
Hit quick play, or "play online" on a level with a lot of people playing.

You'll either join a game, or you'll become the host whilst waiting for others to join.
 
Finally just got this game yesterday and its fantastic. I only played the first two levels and messed around with my POD and Sackboy. But this is truley a great game. Well worth the wait.
 
My Circuit City "glitched" pre-order just shipped... of course I get the notice after I stopped by Best Buy and picked up an "emergency" copy in case the DLC looks to go away before I receive my CC order. I'm hoping it shows up by Friday... I won't have much time to play til the weekend anyway but I don't think my willpower will let me keep the game unopened much past Saturday morning..!
 
Justin, you could always simply download the DLC from the store. Even if you don't have the game.
That way, you'll be ready.

Good tip for anyone who won't have the game the first week.

Really? I thought you had to get it through the game.. not going to be all that exclusive, I guess, if you can just go and download it. But good to know, thanks..

I won't have the game for another 3 weeks... what should I download?
 
Has anyone been able to pick up a copy at Blockbuster? I called about 6 different locations and they all gave me the "...recall - we're still waiting for our shipment" message.
 
After this game of the World Series is done, I'll get on. Anyone want to join in helping me get a few story-based items that only multiple people can get? Remember that microphones are preferred.
 
Has anyone gotten the preorder bonus digital guide in their amazon media library yet? Mine shipped today but no download for me yet.

I was hoping to play, too. But I just got on and servers are down. They always seem to be down at this hour.

Edit - Got on after trying and trying.
 
Update 1.03 seems to be screwing up a lot of stuff. How many times can one friend get a score of 3,000,000 on Trophies Galore?

EDIT: I think they might've changed the physics around a little bit too, actually. Weird.
 
That change in physics might be the unfathomably terrible lag you're experiencing while playing online. I thought that downloading a patch and taking a server break for a few days would fix that, but I suppose not. As it is right now, the game is unplayable online. That being said, the "Temple" levels were some of the coolest platforming levels I've ever played. Anyone that just plays the first few levels and writes the game off is not giving the game it's fair shake.
 
Wow, level making is so fun. I have a super cool boss in my level (I made it, and it sucks, but it's funny). I did the begining and the end, but I have nothing in the middle >.
 
I'm not at 100% in World 1, World 2, World 3 and World 6 and am at least at 84% (the last world) in all other worlds. I'm missing like 3 items in the Mines, and once that's done it's off to finish World 5 (I need like...3 items in the Subway which I can't find).

Rolento, I saw your level. Pretty...sadistic. I made a comment on it that you should fix the ending because you can either a) Overshoot final part and skip to the end or b) Undershoot it, leaving you stuck to die.

yeah I took note. I'll be redoing the part where it pulls you up. I'll probably remake that into platforms you jump up. to make it less crazy.

more CAGs please check out my level since I wouldn't be surprised it gets pulled if the violence in it disturbs people (which i really doubt).
 
I don't think it will disturb people. It is weird, though. Maybe you can tweak the explosion at the end so it's not completely covering the scoreboard?

Have any of you guys seen any good web sites out there that have good tutorials? Such as ones for more complicated monsters? There's some stuff in the India levels, too, that I don't quite know how they did it (the snakes and the weird floors).

when I tested it out about 50 times it never went past the scoreboard... need to fix it I guess >_
 
Servers seem to be screwy again... Trying to publish my new mini-level. Come try it! And if ya haven't please, please play my Winkle and the Stolen Stars. For some reason, it says no-one has played it, in beta in the first 2 hours I got like 8 people that played it, I think the servers might be screwy.

I'm 100%/Aced on worlds 1, 2, 3 & 6. I haven't started 7 yet. And screw world 4 (mexico canyon level) so friggen hard...

Play my levels! I'ma play all yours once the servers get up.
 
I back to TRU to try to pick up this game, and damn, I said Hey " you guys got LBP for PS3" first guy says yeah we got some in the back... some other manager guy comes, and says no they can't sell it to me. He was so serious, it was like I asked him to sell me some TRU child porn
 
I'm online now if anyone wants to play. I have aced all the aceable levels and have all single player items. My psn id is - se7en082

Going to be online for about an hour or so. Going to do early voting, so if I'm not on you know where I'm at. lol
 
Amazon just e-mailed me the mini-guide. Completely forgot about it. Not too bad actually. Essentially goes through what the in-game tutorials do while showing you how to make things like springboards and launchpads.

What the hell, why can't they sell it to you?
 
Has this happened to anyone? I am at the loading screen because someone is joining my game. It says loading in the background and do not turn off your system, but washed out. And it has been that way for the past 5 minutes...

Should I turn the system off? I notice my controller does nothing. Not even if I press the PS button.

On an amusing side note, has anyone else already tried to make it look like Sackboy is 'dancing' by holding the L2/R2 triggers down and moving the joysticks? I have a feeling that many people are going to make YouTube videos with multiple Sackboys and Sackgirls doing all sorts of dances. :lol:

I'm assuming you mean flipping the switch, right? That's how I've read many peoples PS3's get seriously screwed up.

Just hold down the reset/power button on the right side of the system until it shuts down. Hope everything is ok after that....

Good lord. Everything is okay, but that was scary. Thought I was going to lose everything saved up to that point.

I've had that happen on GTA IV a bunch of times and every time I hear the 3 beeps, I'm in fear of the infamous YLOD and the system not even wanting to turn on for long enough to let it spit out my game disc.

As for not being able to play online thus far, I guess maybe I should try finishing the tutorial/single player offline before trying to go online.

But I know many were having problems and I was actually having wireless issues yesterday.
 
Loading bombs on the mine carts on Boom Town isn't doing my nerves any favors. I swear, as soon as I have everything laid out perfectly someone sets the bombs off early.

Luckily, I did this with 4 players and it went pretty smooth the second time. I laughed so much I started crying of how everyone was blowing each other up. Especially in the multiplayer parts.
 
I just got my copy today but have not popped it in. Is this game 3 player multiplayer on one box? I want to grab a new controller after work if so.


EDIT: I got my game at Walmart by trading in a game I had won but didnt want so I dont have any cool sackboy outfits. I would love it if one of my fellow CAGers had an extra code for a cool outfit could toss one my way. I could maybe find a way to repay the favor.

Saw some presumably Japanese players sporting the astronaut costume. Oh, and there's that Ape Escape costume, too. Wouldn't mind getting my hands on that. A shame the siren doesn't turn on when the player gets close to danger.
