Little Big Planet - Gen. Discussion & Info
Just bought the mgs pack and costumes today. The story mode was over waaay to quickly to be worth six dollars but it is fun. I love how MM understands their community. Who else would mock the people who make trophy levels? That was the funniest thing I've seen in a game in a looong time. I'm trying to figure out an idea in my head for a level (I still haven't touched the creation part yet).

Oh and if anybody still needs to run through story mode let me know. I need to get all the co-op items so pm me please!
What is your PSN id so I can friend you? I will be on tonight (probably around 8 p.m. est) to play through some story levels if you'd like (I haven't done them co-op either).

I got a PS3 for Christmas, along with this game and Prince of Persia from my girlfriend. I gotta say, I've really been enjoying LBP. Everything about this game is just my kind of game. Even my girlfriend, who thought this looked like the stupidest game in the world is now hooked, to the point that if I start up the PS3, it better be to play more LBP together

So far, we've only gone through a few story levels, I did get to check out some user created levels, and I'm hoping to get into making some myself. It's also taking all of it willpower to not buy MGS and Street Fighter DLC, I want to at least play through the game first

Anyway, feel free to add either of us. I'm dmunkee, and my girlfriend is Rzaquexl.

is there anyway to turn off those pop ups with someone on your friend list finishes a level? i guess it was in the new patch? been playing in the past few days & keep on getting crazy pop ups that other people online were finishing levels its really distracting to me especially when i gotta hit those precise jumps.

I got LBP back in October, but I still don't even have a PS3. My friend just bought a PS3 recently and I went over to her house to finally play my copy of LBP. I've only done story mode so far, but it was so hilarious when I accidentally pinned a tail in her eye. Haha! Awesome.

It reminds us both of The Adventures of Cookie & Cream. It's not really the same type of game, but it's just as fun for us to play LBP as it was to play through Cookie & Cream.

I let her borrow LBP for a while, but I'll definitely be going back to her place sometime to play more. I can't wait to try out some of the user-created levels.

Making a level is easy. Trust me you guys can make great levels if you just put a little extra time into it. The hard part is making it polished and making it so no-one can break anything... which is damnnn HARD. I'm still stunned at some of the polish on levels.

And I'm about to die with the amount of work Little Dead Space 2 is turning out to be...

And ROLENTO! I need you! Please when you get home come walk through my level with me (get a mic!) and tell me things I should change. I'm getting burnt out of dead space and need another set of eyes.

Anyone on and want to help me and my girlfriend through the x2 parts of the story mode? If so, friend Western_Owl and ask to join our game...

ok, but you'll have to wait till saturday >_<

I have a mic that I need to charge when I get home. if you need sooner input just take a camera pic and pm it to me.

also to whoever needs input on level design: play both story and community levels but pay close attention to how things work than what they are. once you get a gist of that then just make random stuff. doing that just makes the tools more fun and easy since they become less scary and more familiar. just do whatever works for you but those are some ways I did it.

Cool top 20 costumes that they wish were in the game.

Number 1 was the Killzone costume that is actually coming out and it will add a weather tool for the game plus 5 new levels. Can't wait! I love how they are adding more creation tools to the game! So cool.

Well that aint gonna help! I hope to be done with it by saturday! Haha, it's alright. =(
Been online playing this game for about 4 hours now w/ other CAGs... just AWESOME!
Yeah, good games! I think that was the first time I've played with 3 other CAGs together. Haven't played in awhile but have more time now so I'll be on more often.

Got the MGS levels yesterday which are pretty cool and got me to start playing LBP again. Be interesting to see what other tie-ins they might do with other games for levels in the future.

yeah that was fun i never played LBP for that long & its fun with alot of players, i got kinda tired of it like a month after launch maybe cause i was playing it all day but i'm really getting back into it now with the new stuff

Man, that was definitely a lot of fun, wish I could've played a bit longer. Some of these user created levels are nuts!
I just realized last night when playing online with a friend for the first time that my game has no background music. I could hear the music through his mic. All the sound effects appear to be working but I haven't had background music for a while (I know because I remember mentioning it to my wife a while back and thought maybe the level just didn't have music). It really sucks and I haven't found any solution on the LittleBigPlanet site forums.

Any ideas?

Info
1) I already checked the in-game Audio options and tried all different settings of them with music on/off.

2) I'm using HDMI to my TV and listening through the TV speakers

3) Yes, I hear other stuff like the sound effects.

4) All other games I've played have sound.
backup your save file data, delete the LBP game data file and reinstall the game to your ps3
I'm on a lot so if anyone wants to play send me an invite! :)
I'll add you today and if anybody else wants to do co-op items then add me for that.
So how prevalent is the deletion problems? Havent played this game in weeks and just wanna know my odds of losing stuff.
It became an issue with the 1.06 or 1.07 update. The best idea is to delete a lot of your community items and you'll be able to save again. It mainly happened to a lot of people who played the Metal Gear levels. I'd expect a patch to be released next week or the week after to remedy this.

Anyone that has made there own custom levels have any good guides to read for inspiration on making your own map? I really want to start one up but it seems pretty much overwhelming on the possibilities. Any help would be appreciated.

Also King, I thought I read you made a map. What's yours called so I can try it out later. Thanks.
Is there any way to find all of your hearted levels together?
Go to the planet on the left "the Info moon," and click on "me." It's under My Levels. I think you have to hit R1 once to get to your hearted levels.
Something like this may have been posted already but there are 170 pages in this thread.

Ok, so help me out. I was thinking of buying this game and had rented it before. Honestly I didn't give it the time it deserved and tossed it back before totally falling in love with it.

What type of demographic is this game made for? And how deep is it really? Is it only good for those that spend the time creating levels? I'm a creative type, no worries there, but do I only get out of the game what I put into it?

I keep hearing so much about LBP and feel I didn't give it the time it deserved.
i haven't finished the single player but in my experience the game isn't that deep. To be honest it's not as tight controlling as say Super Mario World, and the story wasn't that compelling to me. The strength is that a) it's not so loose that it's unfun. and b) the levels are so very very much varied. it's like people who make Mario hack roms. There's no story there (in most) and the controls aren't any thing special. Hack roms are fun because they offer variety from the levels we all know and love. LBP is like pure hacked roms. Even if you don't like the story you can still have fun finding new levels and playing them. The levels are so varied as well as your costumes that it's worth the price of admission just for that along with multiplayer.
Is there any way to find all of your hearted levels together?
you have to do it like you want to find a friend's hearted levels. It's reallly annoying. You got Left Moon, Me, My Levels and pic your self and find your hearted levels.

A map? No, I haven't made a map. I'm trying to map out how my Big Adventure will go, and then figure out how to do the whole Key unlocks Level X thing.

But I guess by the 4th level you'll be able to go through the whole world

Wolfkin - Yeah, I love the game but I am definitely having issues with the loose controls in story mode. We're on the story mode level with all the rotating wheels you need to hop around on and it is very frustrating because they fling you in all sorts of directions and if you try to jump on top of them and then jump to the next one it often does nothing when you press X (like if you are just slightly on the down part of the rotation the jump does nothing). I threw my controller down on disgust and turned it off after several attempts last night. I was hoping for the 100% collection trophy at some point -, hardly, it seems...

But my kids have still been playing it all day. The game is great in terms of playing community levels and making your own stuff. I even went out and bought a third controller just for LBP yesterday and will probably need to buy a fourth soon. And here I thought I'd get away with just 2 controllers for the PS3!

Darknessbear - we played your Little Dead Space level last night. It is pretty damn impressive. I know nothing about Dead Space so the plot was lost on me, but it is very well made and by far the most cinematic level I've seen yet. Good job!

Most of the time I just use momentum to get to the next one, or stop grabbing right before you hit the "top". Just have to get the hang of "physics-based" platforming. By the end you'll be an expert!

Anyone up for getting 4x trophies tonight? I should be around, and need a bunch of them to 100% things! Add me as your friend; ZackieChan

Thanks!

yeah i had to go about when you guys booted me anyway. if i see you I'll definitely hit you up. the game is MUCH more fun with people to actually talk to.

orko60 if you're up late I may be able to get on in a few hours.

I'll be on in a bit, I think. Trying to get some video conversion b.s. figured out, so I can watch Penn & Teller - Bullshit on my PS3.

Good show, I like the one where they talk about porn.:D

One thing you have to remember about LBP is that you actually have a lot more air control than other games. In fact, if you're running on a slippery surface, it's often better just to jump and move while in the air for better control.

My only dislike so far is the fact that I have no clue how many community levels I have completed and tagged... I HAVE to be getting close to that trophy :)

Having TONS of fun playing this online with other CAGs (although I'm sure I'm frustrating them w/ not having a keyboard or mic)

Jesus, that lag was horrible. I had no clue what was going on so I'll try again tomorrow to do some co-op. Back to single player for me I guess...

So I'll ask again - which are the tough trophies that I should be working on now?

I see that there is a trophy for playing with 3 people from your friends list. I guess I should strike soon on that one while the game is hot (though I still need more friends). What else should I be working on?

I went back to some early levels and replayed them to get 100% (and in the process got the 50% item in story mode trophy). One thing I noticed is that you don't actually have to get 100% of everything to get "100%" and the bag icon on the level. So is this all you need for the trophy? Or do you really have to get everything? I went back in to one level and got two more prize items after getting 100%, and I know I missed one on another level.

If I can wrestle the game from the kids, I'll gladly play with some of you guys to get the 3 friends list one - so send me an invite you I haven't already got ya (Odibee - would have loved Io but they have a 3 char minimum ).

Each level has X items, once you collect all X/X items (in as many trips as it takes, once you collect an item it is in your inventory and will appear as a hollow score ball.

Once you get all of the item filled balls and complete the level, you get the gold bag as well as the bonus items for that, You also get bonus items from completing the level without dying, and for simply completing the level for the first time. The collection trophies only count the hidden prize bubbles in each stage, and not the bonus items. I hope that explanation helps a little.

Tonight i finally got my 'booty master 100% item' trophy. Now only a few left, including the collecting of hearts and plays for your published levels, which seems like it will be a tough one to get.

Not quite - I was referring just to the hidden prize balls (though good to know you don't also have to get the ones for not dying and such). I got the gold bag and 100% and the bonus items without getting everything in the level - I even went back to one and got 2 more items on the last one I did.

I am having a blast with this game.

I really need to be hearted as it seems most people I play with have difficulty doing that. I haven't published any levels yet, so the only way to heart a person that I know of is through the myinfo planet where you select your friend and add them to hearted from there. They should update the game so that you can heart another player with the heart tool to make it easier.
I am also looking to build a level with someone, I think it would be much easier to build a level with more than just one person, because honestly it looks like making a decent level will take a long time.
Anyway, add me and we can conquer little big planet : )

That must have been some sort of glitch then, its definitely not normal behavior.

Hmmm - Now I'm wondering if it has something to do with my kids playing along with me. Maybe it shows all items not obtained by all players who are participating, and not just those missing for the person who's game it is?

I'll friend you; I need that trophy too!

WLogan...I sent you a friend request, but I'm wondering what that last level I played with you (in ridiculous lag) was. It was a silhouette level with the Paintball gun. There was a boss that looked like the Sun, and it was all yellow. I'd like to play that one again, but didn't see it in my recently played levels...

In online multiplayer, the prize bubbles i have collected will always show up as empty prize bubbles even if the other players have not collected them. Do your kids have a different Ps3 account from you? or is each player on the same account?

The custom level I played last night was a Silent Hill made one. I must say there wasn't much going on it in but I was very well made and pretty bad ass.

accepted you as a friend. that level was an online level called Re-Color by ZX497 i believe. Good level.

Also, in regards to the lag. I have experienced a LOT (I have a poor connection sometimes), but if you let everyone get INTO the game and chill for 5 secs the lag usually goes away (it just lags getting everyone together).

I have been playing through this game w/ my girlfriend and we are loving it. She wants to finish playing everything together before we get extras with others (which is why I keep bailing on certain levels jonlubbe, but i will need your help w/ some later!)
