Little Big Planet - Gen. Discussion & Info
I'm late to the party. I just got this game today, and I'm not sure why I waited so long.
Nice - welcome. Not many people play anymore, but if ya need any help I may be able to give ya some.
I'd play more if I weren't so afraid of my save dying.
Haha, I agree. Only seems to be a problem with creation though, hopefully cornish yard(?) fixes it.
agreed but I think GGT can be blamed as well.
Not nearly as much as OTT though. That place can turn out like the bane of 4chan without the visuals :cold:
is it just me or do people here not take darkness seriously (at least outside of this thread)?

where'd all the respect on CAG go?
Have you seen how he acts outside of this thread? Huge douche. Especially a year or so ago when his PS3 fanboyism was through the roof. He has been a lot better lately though.

my point exactly in terms of people willing to not only give respect but gain respect.

wow, that's pretty deep!

i didn't really follow all the OT discussion, but yeah, it takes hundreds and thousands good posts to gain respect, but only takes a few to destroy it.

Are You guys kidding me?!?! The cornish Yarg update is out and no one here mentions it yet? What the hell people, lets get back to being focused!

*haven't looked at this thread in a while*

Man zewone, you are always so dang confusing. I've always felt we were on the same side - maybe I mistook you for someone else. But, I always liked ya.

Anyways, I've been desperately trying to find people that can point out examples of my douchery! I do not want to be a douche! I believe there is a hidden post a made one crazed night in a wild drunken rage that I do not remember and was deleted the day after. Cause everyone really is peeved off at me on these boards (some people I never even knew till recently).

I'll admit my overwhelming exuberance towards the PS3 at its launch and my "SDF badge", but that was only in response to the insane pasionate anger people spewed out about the PS3 at its beginings, most of it was just - but a lot of it was blind anger. (And I ussually kept my PS3 fanboyism to the PS3 boards, although it may have slipped out once in a while).

Well, I would love to fix my behavior - and it's difficult when I don't get anyone letting me know what the hell it is I did. I'm trying buddies!

AND ON TOPIC :lol::

Cornish Yarg... MM did it again. I always feel like the changes are going to be more exciting then they are, and am sad after 5 minutes of LBP play time.

Could somebody explain the "fixed the sackboy decoration"?

So I talked to Media Molecule. She stated that as of now they cannot go any further, she said my level was really amazing to look at but it lacked "gameplay mechanics" which I thought my job description was Level Designer (which deals mainly with aesthetics) my field of expertise is art/creation, so I was not to surprised to hear my gameplay ideas were lacking. She said after school that they will leave a space open for their creative arts team, so that should be good.

I'm going to be trying to get a spot in Lionhead I've always enjoyed their game's art styles much more than MM's. It was a great honor to be chosen though - so it was a good expereince overall.

Taduh!
I'm guessing that Bear will be awarded with a crown.

OR

I just listened to the MM podcast and they were impressed with your work on Dead Space 2 and there still looking for level designers. Job maybe?
So, I was right on both.:applause:

The crown is much nicer in person. I'll have to remind myself to steal it next time :)

So in my first real time in actually playing LBP in a few months (early February) I can say that the majority of the levels I'm playing now are pretty cool. There's a roller coaster level on the front page that's kinda neat.

That Modern Warfare level is cool (Got the 'you don't have the KZ2 DLC memo while playing it) as well as the Mario Kart level, although that's the lowpoint, and Darkness can atest to this: those vehicles have a lot of flipping problems, especially that second yellow vehicle. Kept flipping on him over and over for a good 2 minutes, what a laugh.

Haha, yea I was laughing pretty hard. That yellow cart had a mind of its own - I loved how every cart I touched would break... I've found a better Mario Kart level, it's pretty sweet.

Didn't realize that was Modern Warfare. Hmmm, makes sense.

...it said Modern Warfare in the title.

If we did a game collab, now that I think about it, maybe NES Ninja Gaiden would be good. Not NG2 or 3, just Ninja Gaiden. With that, you don't have all that wall climbing nonsense to deal with.

That or Mega Man

Ok, I have a building question but not sure how to ask it.

A cool GS asst. mgr. gave us two pieces of advice before building LBP levels...#1 Use Black Matter (seems obvious to you but a month ago, not to us) and it is great.
#2 and this is the confusing one (she is on vacation).
Split your level into segments to gain additional thermometers, supposedly easy to do and the end result looks seamless. Well, we never figured this out and now are at "hot" on a level that is almost complete (we have deleted and deleted but to no avail...)
So, can someone explain or point us to a you tube or something to figure out her advice?
Thanks in advance.

The other person cannot see the title!

(about the level design) Yea definitely. I would love to do something.

Alright, so I think your question is: 1.) How can you split your level up? 2.) Why is it filling up so fast?

1.) The only way you can split your level up is by completing the level in two different level patches (like you would creating multiple level), but linking them together requires you to lock the second part and publish the second part (you are given a key), put the key in your first part so it unlocks the second part. Thus giving you "two thermometers".

2.) What makes your level fill up so fast is multiple materials. I can fill up an entire level, with just 20-30 tiny blocks (if you use a different material for every block), if I use the same material for every block I could put over 200-300 blocks of the same size in the level. So what you should do is only use a few different types of materials/objects. Go back and use the change material tool and convert the different materials into a similar material throughout. (IE, only use one type of cardboard).

Anyone want to trade heart for heart? I have 4 accounts ready to trade if anyone is interested to trade four hearts for your four hearts (or two or more heart of yours). Please add me: tagout.
So Little Dead Space 2 was fun til it froze during the boss battle. :twoguns: mm
Oh my I know... The game freezes a ridiculous amount of times for me. They messed up something and Cornish Yarg didn't fix it.

I believe there is a H4H (hate that crap...) thread.

So the LBP Creator pack came out today, and it's pretty great. It comes with five Tutorials as well that show you how to use em.

First:
Infinite Respawn point - the tutorial is awesome, and the addition is much appreciated.
Then:
Teatherless Jetpack and Remover - finally, it was annoying not being able to take away the guns.
Also:
Adjustable angle for triggers - I still don't get the point of this... Never had a problem with the 360 trigger
AND:
Global Light adjuster - woohoo! It is amazing, makes your levels so much . . . better! Added it to my pirate levels
AND the best most amazing thing! :
Ability to hide all bolts, ropes, pistons ect. - Yessss!!! I've always liked making my levels with realism in mind and it totally would kill me making things with ugly ass bolts on em. This is the best!
I hope the whole poster thing points towards there being some new levels included for it.
That would be awesome, but the bottom of the poster reads...
"2000AD Costumes and Stickers Coming Soon"

Here I was thinking it'd be a level pack. Guess I was wrong. It could've provided Armor, too. That would be cool.
yeah, they said that a while ago, but apparently some of the stickers might have functionality unless my source is buslhitting me.
You mean this?

Users who download stickers will be able to get a lot more functionality in the future as an upcoming patch will allow players to create items simply using stickers. "They are so empowering those bits because you just stick them on the materials, cut it out, and you've got like a handmade character.

I initially took it as they'll be a feature in an upcoming patch that'll add a feature that'll remove material that isn't part of the sticker. Kinda like an inverse selection and delete.
But it would be cool if you could stick a sticker to a material and it would "build" a more complex item instantly.

I can't believe they haven't made another level pack since the metal gear one. I thought that would have become a somewhat infrequent thing they did but man, I was wrong.
And will we ever get online level creation?

bingo... but I think they might be bullshitting us. might just be stickers that they say make for great use on stuff we have to make >_<

as for a level pack, I expect one either around E3 or near FF7AC Complete release.

So - I've been really in the mood to create another level. But, I'm not really sure what I want to do and I'd like to work with some other CAGs on one. Either it be we each create a level to create a giant story (Ex Contra levels) or just creating parts and sending them over via mail. *Shrug*

I dunno, does anyone have a suggestion?

Hey, Bear I would like to help out. I haven't been creating much on my main profile because its all full. I'm using my Euro account Rienheart57 for now and I've got levels on there that show I know what I'm doing create wise.

For creating a set of levels it would have to be an abandonware title. Like the Contra was.

I also did a search for CAG on LBP and didn't find anything that related to the site. Even though Cheapy, Shipwreck, and Wombat dislike LBP. A CAG level would be awesome.

Also, did you hear that johnee (creator of Future Warzone)got a job at Mm.
