LIVE Scheduled Downtime September 29
Well XBox Live appears to be down now also as I can't login and the My XBox section of XBox.com has disappeared. XBox.com forums also appear to be down.
Same.
That's the main reason I'm going to get an Elite. I still play some older games so I'll be keeping several on the hard drive.

Same here. Guess it wouldn't be an update without MS fucking up somehow.

From Major Nelson's site:

Bitches better have this up by tomorrow, I need to get my Mega Man on.
Yea I need my Mega Man bright and early tomorrow. They better have this working or they can give me free Mega Man :D
fuckin' hell! Just when my disc drive started actually letting me play COD4, Xbox LIVE goes down.

God damn it.
I was in the middle of fuck testing a new wireless router. Then this fuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuck happens. I wasted about a fuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuck hour debugging the connection. Then I got on my pc and checked the board...and fuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuck it's the service that's down.

Oh neat. New router? What brand and model? I just picked up a new Linksys. It's all sexy and black.

But yes, this is quite bothersome. More so since this is first time I have been on XBL in two weeks. :bomb: I don't know if I will have time tomorrow to play online.

I am able to log into xbox.com now and my live seems to be back up. What about you guys?

Edit: Spoke too soon as i was signed right out of live after posting and am unable to re-sign in. I'm gonna just head to bed and prepare for Mega man tomorrow.

Yeah, XBOX.com lists that service is down, they are "aware" of the problem. Blah. I was talking to a friend when it went down. They owe me 2 days of Live now. Oh well, I have about 35 GTA 1 month cards to use up anyway. I'm stacking them all up as soon as live comes back on.

I logged in to play some Dukematch, and right when I highlighted "Xbox Live" it disconnects.

fuck it. I'm done tonight. I hope I can get online tomorrow night. Ugh.

Ok, tell me if this sounds right. I just received my new Arcade bundle from Amazon yesterday, finished transferring all my data from my old 20gb hd to my new 120 that I bought on eBay. I then discovered that Live was down (again). Now today, it's making me recover my gamertag...which would be no big deal, but when I do that, it tells me there's a required update.

Fine. I tell it to update, it goes to the progress bar and fails every time. It tells me to check my network. I do and everything is fine until it gets to Xbox Live. Now the question. Problem on their end...or my end? I'll tell ya, this is a terrible time to be getting a new system up and running.
xbox live is down AGAIN... maybe they will give us another crap arcade game for free...
think it's just you bro, mine works just fine
xbox live is down AGAIN... maybe they will give us another crap arcade game for free...
If it's as good as undertow, then they can be down for another day for all I care.

It depends. It's mostly down, for all intents and purposes. I was able to sign on but it takes 20x as long to load any sections of the Marketplace, if at all.

Let's see if I can at least grab the trial of MM9 while it's up/not-up/down.

Yeah, I just checked on my old 360 with the 20gb hd, and it can't connect either. Starting to think that Live is just
fucked again. "up to 24 hours".....riiiiiiiiiiight. I knew they were dreaming.

Annnnnd here we go again. Current status per Xbox.com

Users will not be able to connect or log into Xbox LIVE. We are aware of the problem and working to resolve the issue. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
I had no problem an hour ago signing in and being kept signed in
Consider yourself lucky. Alive then...dead now. I'm not making this up.

Not being a fanboy as I own quite a few systems, but honestly this is the service we're paying to get. The PSN is still free for now, and it is 1000 times more stable than live. Microsoft obviously did not properly plan for the growth of the service.

I'm signed in right now, downloading the trial of War World

I think it's more a matter of being disorganized and sloppy in their "upgrades" or pre-upgrades or whatever the hell they just did. For the most part, the service is pretty solid when they're not screwing with it.

It just seems like they've got a bunch of slack ass programmers who forget to carry ones and crap. You know the type: smart as hell, but not an ounce of common sense. These are the kind of problems Live suffers from. The kind of stuff that makes you think you could do a better job running it yourself. This IS Xbox Live.

then maybe you're the reason it's fucked up? lol..just kidding. That's retarded on all kinds of levels. Are you outside the US? (not that that should make any difference)

nope, here in Wisconsin

I remember reading an article on the working conditions of the people who actually test their upgrades, and games in general. Minimum wage, red eyed, overworked, under paid, with no job security, and tight deadlines.
That's a nice combination that tends to lead to failure...

Well I just was on for about 20 minutes, then kicked off again around 2:30. My advice...don't plan any long online games until its fixed.

Um I was just playing some NBA 2K8 and I was kicked off. My connection is fine, but it won't allow me to sign in. Is this a Live problem or is my XBOX broken?

Live problem. I Was dl'ing the Megaman 9 demo and all of a sudden it just stopped and I got booted off Live. Goddamn, hope we get a free game out of this or something like with Undertow.

not trying to crush anyone's hopes on this, but i doubt we will see anything free over a couple of days of live being down. considering we got freaking undertow for free after it was having problems for almost a month i highly doubt they are going to do anything for a couple of days worth.

How do you plan to accomplish that?

See, good thing they did this upgrade on their end now rather than doing it and the dashboard update at the same time as some of you were wishing for!

Imagine all the problems they'd have trying to do both. They needed to do this and get the kinks worked out before they launch the new dashboard or it would have been a real clusterfuck.

Flying to Microsoft HQ and then leaving with glitter in their eyes and tipped over magazine racks.

I noticed that, on Xbox.com, we can now view our full friends list (all 100!) on one page rather than having to cycle through pages. Yay!

Don't worry, they'll find a way to fuck that up too.

Cool, I'll check that out now.
Since the downtime when I've played both Carcassone & Ticket To Ride no stats are updating. Anyone else having any problems like this?
Halo 3 had issues with stats not updating after the work on Monday, but I think that was fixed. Since those games are not as played, I would post on the XBox forums and see if anyone else has the same issue. If enough of a stink is made about it there, then it should get fixed.
