Lets hope it ends with one as well. The Yankee's need to take a lopsided beating.

And surprisingly, this is the first time since 2000, that the Red Sox have won their opening game. Talk about slow starts.

And my fantasy, money team, is off to a decent start. Wright and Kohjima (Seattle catcher) both homered and my 2 teams each picked up a win. Willis was amazing, but no decision. Now time to wait for my other starters to actually pitch a game. Thats what I get with a rookie filled rotation (E. Santana, F. Hernandez, and Z. Duke) with only 2 experienced guys (D. Willis and C. Lee)
Just because a pitcher only has 14 wins does not mean they weren't great. You need to realize that most rookie pitchers do not start the season in the rotation.

I was just replying to the fact that you said that rookie pitchers cannot be dominant. Willis was 14-6 and a 3.30 era, Gooden was 17-9 his rookie year (not sure where you got your stats, but these are from mlb.com) with a 2.60 era. That's pretty damn dominant. Felix only pitched in 12 games and had a 2.67 ERA and I threw him in because it was the most recent example.

I can give you more, like Roy Oswalt, 14-3 with a 2.73 ERA . You can't look just at wins when evaluating a pitcher, especially if they only pitch half a season their first year. Their ratios (WHIP and ERA) are much more indicative.
I was responding to someones post about santana having a breakout year, and how the angels will be a great team. While whip is an important number, it all comes down to someone winning. Clemans last year was arguably the Cy young winner for the NL, but his win total was horrible. He ended up in 3rd place. I don't think the angels will be a playoff team, unless they win the west. I don't think santana will win more then 12 games.

I didn't realize Prince Fielder was in the Bigs already. I can actually say I played against a Major Leaguer, well not really "played against;" I was on the bench, but the team I was on played him.

As I watched the Pads play a very complete game, I see a Padre fan throws a seringe (sp?) onto the field while Bonds runs to the dugout. While I have no problem with the signs (as long as it doesn't get personal ie; family, race) and boos, their is no justification for throwing an object especially one that has something to do with steroids. Barry has not been commited yet, and until then, that Padre fan or w/e he may be, can go suck a dick.

As you know, I am not a Bonds fan, but I agree throwing anything on the field is ridiculous.

Oh, and if anyone saw the "Trade Barry" sign that was outside the stadium, it was a marketing gimmick between Bonds and Topps to promote some special edition cards.

The "Trade Barry" thing I went wtf on, thought it was some idiotic fan, but realizing it was "Trade Barry" as in trade cards..

I think everyone was thinking that, but then the billboard was changed today. Apparantly Bonds was in on the whole thing too. Pretty good marketing strategy in my mind.

Just watched Bonds on Bonds, still reafirms what I believe and that this guy is a human being. If you hate fanboyism, biased opinions, or just hate Barry Bonds, please dont read any more of my post.

Keep fighting the good fight Barry, show them niggers what's up.

and the Brew Crew wins another... 2-0 for the season. Like I say, forsee great things from this franchise this year.

Wow, a post where you refer to someone as a "human being," yet make a remark that totally dehumanizes an entire group of people. Good job.

How do I dehumanize people that don't like Barry Bonds?

Oh yeah, Rain out vs Pads.

You didn't dehumanize people who like Bonds; you typed a word that has some very negative connotations toward black people. Nothing personal against you, but it is a bit contradicting and ignorant to call someone a "human-being," and then turn around and say "show them NINJAs who's boss."

meh.... no hometown love for the Brew Crew? Im ashamed... I thought at least one other person from wisconsin would make mention of them.

I have a bunch of times before. I'm happy with their start. ;)
And I honestly hope that Arroyo is the help they need. I want him to succeed there. I really thought they'd play better than that today. But then again, that one inning blew it wide open. If not for that inning, it was a close game.
Well, with Arroyo starting the Reds were able to keep the Cubs to only 6 runs, so we have our new Ace!

He can't be as bad as their pick up last season, Milton, can he? And he hit a homerun too.
and he walked, ob% is perfect.

Too bad NL pitchers don't get their batting statistics counted in fantasy leagues.

I wonder who has the most homeruns as a pitcher, entire (professional) career as a pitcher that is. Obviously, it'd be Babe Ruth without the entire career stipulation.

My guess is Livan Hernandez. That dude can hit.

Argh, I hate PetCo, Niekro just jacked one and ended up on the track.

To Red Sox fans, has JT Snow played? I loved that guy when he was a Giant.

My Giants are up 6-2 but Lowry is hurt, from what they saw it's the same injury Sabathia got..this blows ass, our top young ace is injured.

Oh yeah, the Braves pitchers are being lil bitches by not pitching to Bonds.
Try to use this for discussions, rather than posting random scores, thanks Jin.
Fine my discussion will be how I love Omar Vizquel.

I love Omar Vizquel because, he can hit and has a hell of a glove. Jamey Wright pitched very well, and could be one of the best acquistitions we've had in a while. Barry's been running fine and made some defensive catches and he's been on the top of 3-4 pitches he could've jacked out of the ballpark. I hate the SF Bullpen and hope we call up Valdez soon.

Anyone know when All-Star tickets go on sale for the 07' season? Really want to see it at the AT&T Park (or is it SBC?)?

looks like the brewers finally taught prince fielder to hit... and the brewers are still undefeated 5-0. *orgasms*

no way bronson arroyo is the home run machine...did you see that blast in the reds game. dam he shoulda been in the nl a long time ago....haha

Wow, its a week into the season, and the Brewers and Tigers are at the top of their divisions. Who would've seen that coming into the season. I know the season is still young, but those 2 teams could be division contenders in another year or 2. (some say this year for the Brewers)

And as long as the Yankees are at the bottom of the division, the season is good.

Its good to see the Reds and Red Sox get off to good starts. Just hope the trend continues for the Reds; I have no doubt that it will for the Sox.

And speaking of Sox, the White Sox are looking disappointing, along with the Twins. But then again, theres still a whole season of head of them.

I'm glad to see the Brewers doing well, but it's not like they've beaten the top teams. The Pirates are still winless and the Diamondbacks are horrid, and an interesting fact Kirkjian(spelling?) pointed out is that during this 5 game streak, the Brewers have had to come back to win every game. Carlos Lee is a beast though.

yeah especially when the white sox are going by closer by commitee....bobby jenks and niel cotts look awful in their debuts. with the twins you can kinda expect a poor opening week...i still dont agree if they did moving liriano to the bull pen...they need a starter and if he is the next santana than let him pitch..which i think he did tonight right? too lazy to check espn...

Yeah, like 2 2/3 or something.

I was at the redsox/balt game on saturday. I was first row behind home plate, sox side of the split where the ground crew comes out....Schilling looked ok, threw hard later on, but he left a lot of straight pitches right down the pipe, as well as painting the outside corners....paplebon looked awsome...it was fucking freezing, and he come in throwing 96/97 pretty much every pitch, and no one could touch him. I don't like seeing him in the bullpen, but he will be great if foulke doesn't get back to being good....I can't wait for a beckett/paplebon/lester rotation, with delcarmen as the setup guy and hanson closing.

Bronson Arroyo just went yard again. He's going to be moving up in the pinch hitter charts if he keeps this up.

Edit: Just realized that both of them were of Glendon Rusch. He's got that dude's number.

Arroyo's season stats as of right now:

2 for 2 with 2 homeruns a 100% OB percentage, 1.000 batting average and a 4.000 slugging percentage.

Viva Arroyo. I hope he's pitching when I decide to drive down to catch a game. But I'd rather them be in a hunt for 1st place at that time as well.
yeah, that is exactly what foulke needed, willie mo knocking a catchable ball out of the park..
But in the end, the result was good, a W in the books and a 3 game lead over the Yankees. Anything can turn positive, when the Yankees lose.

Edit: I'm surprised to see no mention of Crisp going to the DL for a broken finger.
is crisp going on the dl, last report I heard was maybe 10 days...
They put Crisp on the DL yesterday so they could call up Dustan Mohr. They'll have to make another roster move when they take Wells off the DL today, they can either put Nixon on the DL or send somebody down.

damm you dafoomie, you beat me to it ;) I was in the car when I heard it...

crisp got 15.5 mill for 3 season...arbitration eligible each season, club option for season 4

the red sox put riske on the dl, to make room for wells...

stern isn't starting tonight...mohr is in cf and pena in rf
