They have a younger hitter who they think is better than Nevin anyway. Nevin hasn't been good for a few years now.
yeah but isnt that due to injuries though? i know when he was fully healthy with SD he had even resurrected his career there...

who knows what Texas was thinking maybe Nevin complained about playing time and sick of DHing for them. they probably got hairston for defensive purposes because their offense doesnt need any help....

anyway i would have loved to see Clemens in a BoSox Uni because that means he is out of the NL and it would be great for him to end his career with the team he broke out with.

Bonds past 6 games: .365 Avg 4 R's and R RBI's.

What we need right now is that, Alou's still out, Niekro and Matheny. Awesome series vs the Mets though.

How about this Armando Benitez for a bag of doritos? Any takers?

yeah ill give it to you guys...I thought Milledge's homer was sure to turn around the game..and your team still beat us...i never like heath bell any way...he reminds me of Donnie Wall for some reason..

haha feel my pain of having that guy..he practially blows every critical game leaving his fast ball up high so guys can just drill him...how about a old moldy bag of Utz chips for him?

Watching those 3 games, was pure pain. But I loved the fact that the rooks didn't quit on us. Benitez hanged one to a rookie who was 1-12 coming up, and jacks one long.

Benitez has his stuff all games, but big time scenarios he blows it.

I remember 00' against the Giants, J.T. belts one for a game tying 3 run dinger.

Just got back from seeing The Rocket pitch for the Lexington Legends. It was wild to go see something like this especially since the stadium is just two minutes from my house and I have been on that field when we made it to state finals for high school baseball two years ago.

wow i just watched the replays on espn...man even after a long break he still has nasty stuff...now you can say that you played on the same field that the Rocket played on...hehe what a treat.

well pedro got blown up tonight...i feel like grady little is the anti rabbits foot to Pedro..first the ALCS blow up and now this a 6 run inning blow up.

yeah i know...the subway series was where i felt the most pain...every time they would put him in...he would get blown up for 2-3 runs and end up blowing the game...i think if we had a different closer we mightve had a better chance...

hopefully with all the injuries coming on now for teams in the Central, the Cubs could mount a comeback seeing as prior and lee should be back really soon.

yeah seriously...Carlos Zambrano is heating up also so you guys should be fine.
oswalt is on the DL for a back strain
what a bad time and when the Rocket just came back...i guess that answers the reason for the Rook to start today for them.

Anyone see Schmiddty Boy's 16 K complete gamer?

Well after that awesomeness, we lose 8-1 today against teh Fish...oh well Bonds was resting and Willis was pitching. Next up Pirates...hopefully we get a sweep.

Don't count the Reds out. Griffey is back and I don't know if anyone else is on the DL or not. They may just surprise everyone. And they're only 1 back and play St Louis tonight. I can only hope they get back to being atleast in the playoff hunt come September and October.

And damn, the Red Sox/Yankees game got rained out. 2nd time this year. Hopefully they can pull off the win tomorrow and stay within a 1/2 game of the Yankees.

It's not surprising though; New England is a highly populated area, and a large number of their fans will vote blindly with team loyalty instead of voting for the best players. There's a reason the All-Star voting has been likened to a popularity contest in the past.
7/8 Position player so far on the AL All-Star team are Yanks and Sox.

Bullshit.
Happens when you have the consensus pick for best national rivalry in baseball .

No doubt it's an awesome rivalry but it's horrible to see when the likes of a Joe Mauer, Jim Thome, Konerko all get screwed just because we need to see more of Yanks and Sox, already tired of that shit.

Exactly. Catcher is probably the most glaring position right now, but Damon does not deserve to go either at this point.

I'll give you guys that, I don't think there should be that many people from either team as the starters. And Damon doesn't deserve CF, but at this point, not really sure who does though.

Also, where's a link to the current teams for both AL and NL starters.

Suprised nobody has brought up the Grimsley debacle. This could really be huge, seeing as how it's a federal investigation and Grimsley seems to be willing to take anyone down with him.
Holy shit, its June 7th, and the Cincinnati Reds are in first (tied) place. Now thats insane.
It really isn't that shocking...maybe...shame Griffey is still struggling with quad issues but almost everyone is producing. The pitching staff and bull pen is stepping up as well.

I was thinking the exact same thing when we almost posted at the same time. This situation has the potential to be utterly devestating.

First guy who popped in my head was Giambi.

Grimsley's given a list already of around they said on ESPN about 16 guys he 'suspects', obviously for legal matter it can't be released.

yeah but now Grimsley's agent Novak is saying that he was pressured to wear a wire and find info on Bonds. Also if he didnt cooperate that the FBI would leak it as just they did.in a sense i think baseball needs to do blood testing because thats the only way i think you test for HGH. if not that it just gets uglier for baseball and makes baseball just even that more tainted..

One thing this baseball situation does is prove what I think is true in most of life. More people cheat to get what they want than many people realize.

I think it is going to be HUGE...HGH, is going to really hurt the PR of MLB. In the end I doubt it will have a major effect on the revenue...maybe a hiccup in ad sales.

If Pujols is found to have used, and I had a thought about it but didn't want to believe it, trust me, MLB as we know it, will crash.

Think about it, it doesn't help that the NBA is back and looks to be controlling everything, NFL is God...Baseball could be #3.

I agree. Pujols has been portrayed as all that is good in baseball, so if this would be true it would be terrible for baseball.

I am praying that Pujols has nothing to do with this because he seems like a cool guy. But if he has, I don't know if I'll ever devote anymore of my time to baseball ever again. I love the game but all the lies are disappointing.

nonsense...you will hear purist and some people who think that steroids are horrible, and it ruined the game blah blah blah....but people will still go to the park...fans say the home run race in the late 90's brought people back to the stadiums, I say that is BS, they were fairly full anyways. Yeah it helped get some non baseball fans interested, but the league was far from struggling. Look at the shit that went down the past offseasons....they have had balco info leaked, a congressional hearing, jose canseco's book, jason giambei practically crying and saying sorry (never said for what), and barry bonds and him breaking home run records. Is baseball struggling currently?

On a more positive note (from a redsox fan) Sheffield to have wrist surgery.

i dont think baseball i sstruggling currently...baseball has such a huge longtime fan base that the fans will still keep coming back to watch their team win...hell if Carlos Delgado used steroids it wouldnt stop making me love the Mets. I think steroids hurts the players then more the game. And the controlling body which is the MLB which should have it controlled failed so in doing it. i think the public thinks that one player can be the answer when winning games...and when they find out that one player used the roids the fans blame more on that than their own team's horrible play. i think the game for the players is tainted...but the game in general is not.

when are the red sox going to stop babying the young arms, and get rid of rudy seanez and tavares. Sox fans are all happy timlin is back. Timlin, the pitcher that comes in the game usually with runners on base, and he let in over 50% of inherited runners to score last year. Don't know his exact stats, but he hasn't been lighting it up this year either.

well they just dealt riske for the young arm Javier Jopez today..
well they just dealt riske for the young arm Javier Jopez today..
Riske is 29 and Lopez will be 29 in July. Lopez also has a career 6.09 ERA in the majors. This is a very minor deal. Riske actually might be the better pitcher.

riske hasn't pitched bad for us either...he had 1 bad outing and then went on the dl....he has been good since he came back. A 3.37 era...but hey lets keep seanez who allows all inherited runners to score, and has a high 4 era. And then there is tavarez with a low to mid 6 era....and the fucking white sox wanted seanez. Theo came out and said that there is a log jam of right handed relief and it appears that tito (francona) has riske at the end of the log jam. So instead of forcing francona not to go to seanez and tavarez time and time again by trading one, you make his reasoning stand up better. IMO riske is the better pitchers, but we got lopez due to him being a lefty, and with lenny dinardo on the DL, we don't have any in the bullpen.
