LOST - The Final Season - LOST Auction Aug 21-22 (Post 1439)

Soooo yea...
So, does it really mean that they were all dead that entire time? Or was it suppose mean it restarted time?

Oh shit are we not doing spoilers or something?
OK so there are all dead after the plane crash? so why the hell did some of them leave in the plane at the end?
No, they all died at different times. That's just where they ended up after, Christian even said some of them lived long after. Hurley and Ben confirmed that with their dialogue at the end.

Showing the wreckage at the end was the only confusing part to me, since it did kind of make it seem like they'd been dead the whole time. I don't think that's the case though.
I thought I understood till they showed the wreckage at the end. It made it look as though it never happened.
I think it was just jack getting ready to die after the plane crashed....so he was in the plane crash, and fell into the bamboo area... and the series took place as he was preparing himself for the whatever is next

Why the fuck was Penny at the church? At the dock was the only time she was in danger of being killed and it was implied Ben failed at the task.

But does that mean Jack died in the plane crash?

I also dont really understand the parallel universe then, what was that all about?

I thought it was just re-showing the set where everything first took place. Nothing really story wise, just a shot of the props and the beautiful Hawaiian island where it all started.

Why the hell couldn't they bring back Mr. Eko? :(

And I don't get why Ana Lucia was in the previous episode, but wasn't in the church. You'd think Desmond/Hurley would've clued her in.

How was jack watching the plane go by though? Wasnt he thrown in the bushes after it crashed?

What the fuck is going on!!!

That's what I think too, but they certainly invited the speculation, didn't they? Which I'm sure occurred to them. They want people to keep discussing it for years, which is fine by me.

I'm 99% sure that wasn't a "they all died in the crash" ending

you are LOST

WHY DOES NO ONE GET IT?!?! I thought it was perfect, loved it sooo much. I'm confused by the confusion.

Everything that happened on the island was real. The people on the plane may or may not have gotten off the island. Hurley and Ben become guardians (hence the comment: You were a good #2, you were a great #1.

The parallel universe is a sort of middle ground between Earth and the next life. Everyone was just waiting for everyone else to realize this so they could all go to whatever comes after Earth.

The plane probably blowed up. They implied there might be more bombs on it. Lapidus never considered that. I kept watching the episode when they would use the walkie talkie and wanted to say "Dude, tell the idiots the plane is probably still rigged to blow!" but nobody did.

Hugo, Desmond, and Ben probably died of old age. Jack never said the magic voodoo words, he just gave Hurley regular ol' creek water.
Everyone died at different times, Christian even says so at the end. People need to listen.
This. Hurley and Ben obviously died long after, which was pretty explicit from their conversation at the end (spinoff anyone? :D).

The story ended the way it began. Jack waking up in the bamboo/Jack dying in the bamboo.

Oh, that makes sense then.

But explain the last scene with jack on the ground then watching the plane.

EDIT: I see that I posted that seconds after you answered that. The only thing I dont get now is why he was watching the plane go by.

That was the plane the others had just taken off in...

Others or others? Sorry, couldn't resist.
We never learned MIBs name. Now that pisses me off.
It's Steve. Happy? :D

We never learned MIBs name. Now that pisses me off.
Tell me why it really matters.

And soodmeg, what do you mean by explain Jack watching the plane? He sees that the Lapidus plane did indeed get off and into the air.
That was the plane the others had just taken off in...
Yeah, it was somewhat difficult to see whether the plane's colors being Aijira or Oceanic. With all the dead revelation, the newfound flashes of light, time going all topsy turvy, along with the very last scene of the Oceanic crash set, I could see the confusion

I'm just glad it was good enough for people to be posting like crazy. Just like when the Sopranos ended. People were mindfucked but figured it all out a little while after. I fear that was the intention, for the creators to conveniently say they had a "all questions answered" special feature on the upcoming box set. Shit, I'm going to buy the set anyway though. No reason not to finish the set. Oddball ending aside, this show was still a landmark in the television industry.
If the creators were attempting a Sopranos style finale, they failed. The Sopranos finale was crafted perfectly. As this crazy sumbitch can attest:

http://masterofsopranos.wordpress.com/the-sopranos-definitive-explanation-of-the-end/

Sopranos finale = 100x greater than Lost finale.
I got it basically as soon as I saw it. I think pretty much everyone knew Tony got shot, but I still think it was a crap episode. Shit, the last 3 years of Sopranos were crap.

I sort of get it after readying some of these posts, but I still kinda don't. If it was supposed to have everyone who died move on together, they were still missing a good amount of people (Mr. Eko, Ana Lucia, Alex, Roussou, etc.).

Yea, I saw that right after I posted it.

Also, come on people its LOST dont act like you understood everything in the show. Its very easy to read to far into the because thats how they wanted it.

Not to mention Nikki and Paulo...

Yep, that's it in a nut shell.

Guess they weren't ready to move on yet, like Ben, Eloise etc.

Or just not there as none of them were in that group that was waiting for all of them to die so they could leave together. None of those were close to the group of main characters in the church.

Yeah the absence of Walt and Michael is really annoying me. For fucks sake you had Barnard and his wife in the final yet skip on two players that were the focus of many seasons.

Why do the creators hate them so much?

I took it as this:

The entire flash-sideways subplot was a form of purgatory. Richard, Lapidus, Miles, Sawyer, Kate, and Claire flew off the island and lived out their lives. Hurley and Ben stayed back and took care of things for the rest of their own. Desmond was sent back to Penny via some unexplained method that Hurley and Ben must have discovered, and eventually the two passed away together as well.

The purgatory was created for the entire group once the last Oceanic member died in the original timeline, with Christian as their guardian angel or "shepherd" (har har). In order to gain access to heaven, they all had to rediscover their former selves in the context of their false lives in the flash-sideways...like a final trial or rebirth.

I'm assuming Anna Lucia, Nikki, Paulo, Mr. Eko, and Michael were too fucked up and got sent to hell. Ben is kind of in the middle of things, so I'm assuming he's spending more time in purgatory. I don't know why Penny, Desmond, and Juliette would be included with the Oceanic crew, other than a "love conquers all" kind of deal. As far as Walt, who the fuck knows.

Now, I think I have a firm understanding of it, but I'm still not entirely happy with the direction they took. In short- FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Only thing I'm dissatisfied with is why no one in the sideways universe remembers their former life after the plane crash and they need to be reminded. Oh, and where's Walt? I understand why no Michael-----he doesn't deserve to go on with the rest of the Losties because of his crimes (hence why he is stuck on the island).

Obviously it would have been impossible to get EVERYONE back. For me, they explained it well enough by saying some people weren't ready to move on (Faraday, Ben, Ana Lucia, etc).
Well.......we're gonna get 3 alternate endings in about 5 minutes.....so lets see how those were.
Im pretty sure they're fake, funny alt endings.

I disagree with the choice of Ben being part of the losties, Michael killed 2 people to get his boy off the island. Ben killed about 500 people for a hundred different reasons. Although I do like Ben.
Im pretty sure they're fake, funny alt endings.
They've been pushing them pretty hard in the commercials, so I think they're gonna be actual alternate endings. Probably only about 2 minutes long each, so the purgatory ending is still going to be what actually happens, we'll probably just see different variations.

I believe Mr. Eko wasn't on the show because he asked to leave (hence his character getting killed) and hasn't been seen on the show since (Hurley playing chess with nobody and making the comment about it being Mr. Eko). As for the other people that didn't make an appearance, I have no idea.
I disagree with the choice of Ben being part of the losties, Michael killed 2 people to get his boy off the island. Ben killed about 500 people for a hundred different reasons.
Which is why Ben was not in the Church.

Or they were already at peace. Right before Michael blew up, he had redeemed himself, no reason to go to a place to "wait" for others.

Ana Lucia was never awoken, so she is still living inbetween, never moving on.
Which is why Ben was not in the Church.
And now he is repenting, living there knowing what he did.
