I think using that 20% off coupon and getting the $10 coupon book is YMMV. It says right on the coupon that it can not be combined with any other deal.

So it depends on the cashier? Hmm. I might just go back to Amazon. The Favre figure isn't too important to me, and they have the GC too, with no tax. Is it too late to get release date delivery?

well I just called 4 different toys r us in my area and they all said there not getting the collector edition so I guess the best deals for madden 09 collectors edition gotta be Besy Buy with the 10 off in games coupon.....thats about it.
 
If TRU doesn't get the collector's edition, I believe the best deal would be Amazon with the $10GC with free release date delivery for those who have Prime.

If that actually works tick I think I'm in for the same deal. I am still stuck between best buys deal or amazons its really a 5 dollar difference with a 10 dollar gift card. I am still in the middle of what I'm going to do.

I canceled my Amazon order for the fourth time. I finally decided I'm going with TRU. FedEx/UPS always gets to my house at 7PM, and I don't feel like waiting. I guess I'll stop by today to preorder and pick up the coupon book.

I was at Best Buy and saw a Madden Coupon Book. There's a 25% off Guide and Game specifically for Madden NFL '09 Game and Guide including the Collector's Edition. Pay $60 out to door, or $59.99 to be exact, which is same price as the regular edition.

It's also worth noting that the TRU 20% off coupon is valid Aug. 15-21. Plus, there is another 20% off coupon in the same book that is valid Aug. 22-28. I went to the R'Zone and asked the cashier for the books, I got two of them.

Yeah, I just grabbed them from behind one of the registers, since when I bought my pre-order they didn't give me one.

I talked to a person 7 Eleven and they said you just have to buy a Snickers and you get $10 off the game. That sounds pretty good for those who don't want to wait.

It is a pretty good deal, if you want Madden and Head Coach. Unfortunately, Madden obviously has a lot of baggage, so any topic about the franchise is going to get some haters lurking.

As far as other content, I'm sure we will get the usual making-of crap and what not you usually see in other CE's. Also, according to Amazon, there is a fully-playable version of Madden 93. I had heard it was Madden 95. I don't know. Whatever. I will probably only play it a few times. They did this previously with the 05 CE, which had 3 older Madden games. I played them a few times for laughs and memories. If I really wanted to play older versions, I would rather just emulate the actual game, so that you get the old rosters and such.

Speaking of the 05 version, anyone remember that they marketed that as the 15th anniversary? I know it's all about marketing and pretty meaningless, but I do find it funny that EA decided simply to keep changing the actual beginning date of the franchise, which I do believe was '88. So, they were right this time around.

Yeah, the extra content isn't great (as was posted before) but for two games I want anyways (I'm one of the few people to really enjoy the original Head Coach, even though it wasn't all that good of a game) and the extra 20%, $10 GC and stupid Favre figurine (Bad time to get that as a Packer fan) it's a good deal. I think it'll actually be cheaper than getting each game off GameFly.

I hope the CE is still available by next year instead of $90, it will be only $30...

Also to the person asking how they did a 15-year anniversary for Madden 05 and 20th now for 09; 05 was the 15th year of the game on consoles, while this year is the 20th anniversary of the whole series, which started on the Apple II in 1989.
